Would it be possible to make the progress/scrubbing bar more like the native one Apple uses for iTunes movies/TV shows? It seems inevitable that I will accidentally scrub forward or backward while reaching for the remote. When scrubbing with Apple's progress bar, a marker is placed where you left off, and the cursor will automatically snap back to that position when you come close to it. With Infuse's bar, I can see where I left off, but the cursor will not automatically snap back to that position as I approach it. I usually miss it by at least 10 seconds or so.

Most likely yes.

The controls will continue to improve in upcoming versions based on feedback (like this) we get from those that use Infuse regularly. For example, one nice thing we've added in 4.0.3 is an option to jump between chapters using the touch pad.

Seems to be taking a long time to get the New Release thru Apple. It has been 7 days. Is this normal?
Regarding the iPad Version. Do you know when we can expect Release 4?

Thanks.

4.0.3 for Apple TV is now live! :)

With any luck, Infuse 4 for iOS will be out within the next few days.

Unfortunately, even though the release notes say "Improved audio track selection logic", this version still has the problem selecting the right default audio track in MKV files as previously described here:

There are still a few things we'd like to add in this regard - though the changes in 4.0.3 were directed at treating DTS and Dolby tracks equally. Previously, Infuse would skip over a DTS track in some cases.

1. I just did some initial testing. I mainly use it for Mpeg2 files that I recorded with a DVR. Even though it played ok once started it still takes about 4 seconds to buffer each time I stop and start. This was a big improvement with 4.0.2 from 4.0.1 but I was hoping it would be more instant in the 4.0.3 release. Other applications do not have this delay. Any idea what they have not been able to resolve it? Even though it seems to work fine it is not a good experience when try to skip commercials. I seldom play a MP4 file but when I do it starts instantly after a pause.

2. Probably because of #1 but when I use the FF Feature it would be nice if you could show what is on while doing it so that I know when I get to the end of the commercial. Other products I use can play while doing the FF. Since I now have to go FF say about 3 minutes then start playing to see where I am at and it takes about 4 seconds to start again you can see the problem.

3. Since I use it for playing DVR Files. After I watch it I am generally done. Do you have any plans to support "deleting" of files and folders? Maybe a setting to allow deleting of files (default to OFF).

I will continue to give Infuse Pro a try on each release because of the superior UI. But because of these issues I will continue with other options for now. The App I use that has no issue with these 3 items but has a terrible UI is MrMC.

Thanks for you consideration.

DebbieFL133 - if you read this, I know you are also using the same HDHomeRun DVR. I am using WDMyCloud NAS for my DVR. Are you experiencing the same 4 second restart after pause? Happens on all of my recordings that I have tested. Most are 1 hour shows. Maybe a 30 minute show would be less. Thanks.

Great. Can't wait for future update where one directory for iTunes media is supported. I hate the ATV4 native player. ATV4 Audio is rubbish, playback is jittery and hangs. Infuse works many times better than POS ATV 4 OS. Great job. Perhaps Apple needs to learn a thing or two from you guys.

Any idea why I can't find artwork/movie info for "The Legend"? I found it for "The Legend II" although only after this update. Are the search results truncated? The reason I ask is that sometimes results matching my identical query can be down the list and below other less relevant results.

We're using the default sort order provided by TMDb, and it doesn't look like The Legend comes up in the first few pages of results (https://www.themoviedb.org/search?query=The+Legend). One thing you can try is adding the year to the filename (E.G. The-Legend-1993.mp4) or search using one of the alternate titles (E.G. Iron Tiger) as either of these should help in cases like this.

Thanks. I was able to get it searching for "iron tiger" but "the legend 1993" had zero results despite the former search working.

Are you using a wired or wireless network connection? In almost all cases, Wi-Fi will be faster.

Great!

FYI, the year won't be available in the search box (the search on TMDb site doesn't support this either), but it will work if included in the actual filename.

Mike, not using HDHR DVR yet :). However I copied a 1 hr. Mpg recording to WD to test. On FF, I see about 2-3 sec. ATV4 on WiFi AC. WD plugged directly to newest Airport Express 2 rooms away.

Edit: s/b Airport Extreme (Time Capsule)

Thanks for that test. I was able to get a faster speed using WIFI (802.11ac to Airport Extreme). Are you really on an Express which is 802.11n? I would say from 4 secs down to 3 secs connected via SMB. My Airport is in the next room with line of site. I know AC is faster the 10/100 Ethernet but my Ethernet is connected to the same switch as the WDMyCloud (and also to the 2 HDHomeRun Primes). So pretty surprised with this test. Other parts of the house are not as close but the Ethernet connection is about the same speed. Did not test WiFi on those. Also, I tested with the DLNA Connection. In the past I found that NAStify was faster with DLNA but not as solid. Looks like DLNA is about 25% faster then SMB with Infuse as well. And works well with this first test. On Ethernet DLNA is 2-3 seconds compared to the 4 with SMB. But on Wifi it is about 1/2 second compared to the 2-3. This isolated test is faster but not sure I want 8 TV's all connected via WiFi. I actually have 1 that is on Wifi because I do not other connection in that room. But this still does not explain why MrMC is instant on Ethernet via SMB. I may just switch to DLNA but I loose the folder icon's because DLNA will only pass back video files and not JPEG.

Wired. DebbieFL133 also tested and she was on WiFi with a faster speed. I know 802.11ac is faster thee Ethernet 10/100 but all my devices are on the same Ethernet Switch for this test. In all my tests WiFi was about 25% faster. And the Wifi is in the next room via line of sight (Airport Extreme). I also tested using DLNA and it was a lot faster then SMB. I am using a WDMyCloud NAS.
1. SMB Ethernet 4 Seconds. WiFi 3 Seconds.
2. DLNA Ethernet 2.5 Seconds. WiFi 1/2 Second

I have 8 Apple TV's and only 1 is WiFi. I make a habit of trying to connect all stationary devices via Ethernet and mobile devices on WiFi. This isolated test proved you right. But not sure if I have a lot of devices connected to the same Airport would it have the same results. Also, my past has shown that Ethernet Connections are more stable.

But this does not explain why my other Apps on Ethernet have no buffering at all. Instant restart. Now, maybe they would also be faster on WiFi but I would not switch since there is no way I would notice the difference.

Also, why is DLNL so much faster then SMB? I would just switch to DLNA but I hate to loose the Folder ICONS. It would be nice if Infuse could pick up the icon for the first video in the folder if not JPEG Found. Of course is SMB was just as fast as DLNA then there would be no need.

Also, you did not say if you were planning to display the video while doing a FF. But even on WiFi with less delay I can not see how it would work unless you had zero buffering.

Any suggestions?

Yes, I was also floored by the WiFi AC vs Ethernet test. I have a fast MoCA network. A couple of weeks ago I tested Infuse with direct wire of ATV & MyCloud to AE (yes Extreme, I had edited) and it was essentially the same as WiFi AC (2 rooms away). Seems like Apple really let us down by not including a gb plug.

However, I am hoping Firecore will continue to work on SMB load times. Initial load time on 4 file SMB share from an i7 iMac still takes 16-17sec. (just a test to help another user). I have one share with 20 sub folders which always takes 6-7sec to load. Also, my ATVs are on off switches, so I always have at least 6-7sec for initial load of any share when using Infuse.

I do not have any of these load/restart time delays on MrMC.

DLNA/UPnP works the same for me as you posted. But I, like you, would rather use Infuse with SMB, on a wired network with my ATV's on the off switches for all the UI reasons you listed, plus I really have a hard time with MrMC FF/Rew on Siri remote, user manual dexterity problem :)

Still too many compromises for me, whichever I use. Keep on testing...

I agree on the startup times which are a worse performance problem but I can handle a little wait in the begging but not on every commercial. I also do not have a lot of DVR Files to go thru. Way too hard to skip commercials with it. I will continue to use MrMC until Infuse gets better or Channels App comes out with theirs. I expect Channels will be the best for my DVR needs. On the MrMC dexterity thing. I've gotten pretty good with it. With a quick swipe you get +/- 10 seconds. But if you do it 2 times you get 30 Seconds and 3 you get 1 minute and I think 4 you get 3 minutes. And I think it continues. But I usually start with 3 minutes and go from there. Also, with the actual controls which I don't reliably like you can set it to 2x, 4, 8x etc. I just watch it go by.

My main problem with MrMC has always been the UI. Since they came out with the Amber Skin and I customized the menu to just have Favorites and Settings it has been better. After adding the "folder.jpg" for Infuse I found out they also work for MrMC. So, I changed MrMC to use ICON View and that is a nicer look.

Still my favorite UI is Infuse so hopefully they can improve the performance soon but really not counting on it since they have had a lot of time to get it right. I also have the iPad App and it has the same performance problems. I will need to test it more since it is definitely on WiFi.

Why oh why does it take so damn long to load infuse on the AppleTV?
I have guests over to watch a movie and they start giving each other the stink eye as we all sit and watch the little circle spin for what seems like forever...

Crazy that you guys are experiencing such long load times. 4.0.3 is lightning fast for me using an SMB connection to the hard drive attached to my router. I'm connecting via 802.11ac with a brand new Linksys EA7500 router. Videos start playing almost instantly and the 10-second skip is also nearly instant. 4.0.3 is a big improvement for me. Hope you guys get it figured out!

When I say long load time I'm referring to actually loading all my library as I first enter the app. Once I'm in and the titles are displayed playing them is quick.
However initial load can be as much as 3 or 4 minutes...

Me too. But really not sure it is my network since no other App has this problem. And I have been testing a lot over last couple months. It is about 25% faster on Wifi 802.11ac but still not instant like "all" of my other Apps on Ethernet.
1. Close the App so that Infuse will load fresh.
2. Enter Infuse App and Select my Recordings Folder which has maybe 7 folders with a total about 15 recordings. It will take a good 6-7 seconds to load and show the icons. This does not seem right.
3. Exit back to Menu leaving Infuse in the background.
4. Enter Infuse and go to Recordings Favorite again and it is instant. So that first entry must have cached some things. I understand this but the initial load seems to be a problem. No idea what it could be doing.
5. Start playing video. Normally about 4 seconds on Ethernet and 2-3 seconds on Wifi. All other App < 1/2 second. Pretty much instant.
6. I was not doing the 10 second skip but it is the same as swipe over and then start again. The 10 second skip will take the same 4 seconds to restart.

These are all MPEG2 Files from a DVR which have metadata in them. I do have a MPEG4 file where it does start instantly like others (on Ethernet). If the MPEG2 Files worked like the MPEG4 Files then I would not be complaining about the performance. To be clear I mainly use MrMC now because it does not have this problem. It starts and stops instantly.

I also just did another test. The MPEG4 Favorite Folder currently only have 1 folder and 1 recording (I normally only use MPEG2 but created this as a test). Also, it is smaller then the MPEG2 Files. But, it has the same 6 second delay when loading for the first time.

I also have access via DLNA and the initial start of that favorite folder is instant. But that also does not show the icons for the folders since it does not get the "folder.jpg" files passed. And when watching the DLNA Videos (same videos as via SMB) are another 25% (or more) faster the SMB. So, if I gave up on SMB and also started using WiFi then things would be much faster. But I do not to use Wifi on all 8 of my Apple TV's just because of this 1 App. Also, I prefer not using DLNA because I loose the ICON Views of the folders. One workaround for the folders icon would be in Infuse would get the icon from the first video in the folder which it gets from somewhere. Or if it used the same of the folder to get the icon would be ok as well.

Lastly, I really like Infuse for the nice UI but this performance issue is a deal breaker for me when I have other options.
