I have been streaming movies from a WD My Cloud Ultra EX2 to ATV4 using Infuse for about a year now. Works very well. Infuse plays everything that I stream to it. Much easier setup and use than Plex.
The option you are seeing inside Infuse is actually a volume boost, and not a volume adjustment. The difference is subtle, but in essence a volume boost allows for a higher than max volume in cases where there is a lot of background noise. EG a train, airplane etc... It's most helpful on mobile devices, but since Infuse iOS/tvOS share the same codebase we made it available on Apple TV as well.I noticed while playing two MKV (lossless files) the following (Infuse for ATV). Note: the version I am testing is the last 4.X, so I have no idea if this was changed in 5.X. I still haven't made another purchase.
- File #1 is from Cosmos (1980).

While using the Airpods we can't increase the volume inside Infuse. This option is not available. So that means we are stick with the 0-10-20... 100% volume levels from the ATV internal settings.
Now, file #2, from Planet Earth 2 (2016), also MKV (lossless):

Not only we can increase the volume inside Infuse, it be up to a 400%.
Is there a technical reason for excluding a DD track from that benefit? In my opinion the Airpods always need a boost regardless of what app I am using, if it's in the iPAD I always add 200% (it can go to 400%, too), because it's my opinion the volume is too low. Sure it depends on what we are watching, but if I don't have that option I'll always wish for more.
And I can tell you I hate listening things too loud, this is light years from being the case here, I am talking about a normal volume which allows me to listen to that content properly.
Yeah, it's exactly that I am talking about. Unfortunately this little feature is needed for all files, not only those with DTS/DTS-HD MA tracks, because the volume close to 100% is still low. Maybe these tracks will sound OK if I send the audio to a home theater (currently I don't have one lying around to do some tests), however if we are talking about the Airpods (and I'll assume most headphones, regardless of being bluetooth or not, are not much different), the max volume is insufficient. And I am afraid this "help" is needed for the whole thing, not just background noise. Maybe it's just me thinking headphones should be a lot better in this regard. The option you are seeing inside Infuse is actually a volume boost, and not a volume adjustment. I don't rely on Siri, and for this specific task I see no reason for it, since I can adjust the volume by just touching the screen. That will be much faster and allow a very quick adjustment compared to issuing commands by voice. There's always a delay for that, and a chance yours isn't recognized.Have you tried using Siri to adjust the volume on your AirPods? https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT207010
Videos stored in Infuse for iOS can be streamed via AirPlay to an Apple TV (2nd gen or later).Maybe it is a silly question, but I am new to AppleTV:
Can I use Infuse to stream local video files that I have on my iPad (mkv, mp4) to an AppleTV?
If you like v4, you should try v5 as it has quite a few new additions.Infuse 4 is the best.
Those are 2 different things. One is a container and the other is video. Generally MKV is the preferred container. ATV4 and 4k with TVOS11 both support HEVC so you're set there. HDR is the real question but I believe I read it's coming in infuse. The only issue is lack of atmos/DTS:XAnd would it need to be .MP4 or will h.265 work?
Full support for tvOS 11, Apple TV 4K, and HDR are in progress and will be available in a series of free updates coming soon. https://firecore.com/blog/18839Will infuse support HDR 4K playback of files via a NAS? Does iOS 11 and new ATV 4K allow this? Eg I have a few 4k HDR titles ready to play just wondering if infuse can play these natively

Infuse supports h.264 and h.265 in any container (MP4, MKV, MTS, etc...).
Thanks, much appreciated!Wonderful! Btw I'm a infuse 5 supporter happy to keep paying for a great app keep it up
Hooray!Ready and waiting for the new ATV to be released in Thailand - 't'will be adios Minix and XBMC/Kodi...
Yes, external subtitles will be available when streaming via SMB, NFS, FTP/SFTP, or WebDAV from your NAS.External srt subtitles are supported for mkv containers streamed from a NAS? I'm assuming so... but assumption can always lead to horrible disappointment ( yes, I paid for a lifetime Plex Pass... oh, the humanity)
This is on our radar to look into for a future update. #staytunedCan you connect to SFTP via public key authentication yet? I know a couple of versions ago this wasn't an option.
Sounds good. Can you explain in a bit more detail how the recently added files are handled now? Is it based on the timestamps of the file now (if supported by the network protocol)?Infuse 5.5.3 is now available!
Includes iOS/tvOS 11 support, better handling of recently added files, streaming improvements, and more.
Yep! Infuse now uses file modified dates for determining what's new, and sorting by date. Existing libraries will be updated automatically during the next scan. Date info is available when streaming via SMB, NFS, FTP/SFTP, WebDAV, Dropbox, Google Drive, and OneDrive.Sounds good. Ahh, thank goodness! It's been maddening to see Infuse display the last few films alphabetically in the "Top Shelf" as "recently added" just because they were the last files to be read when I added my Plex share to Infuse. - Is this true passthrough, or is there any scenario where Infuse will transcode another format into Dolby/DTS?Passthrough: Audio will be sent as Dolby or DTS via S/PDIF (up to 5.1 channels and 16-bit).
Passthrough is available in Infuse for DTS (core) and Dolby (AC3), and is limited to 16-bit formats. If you play another audio format (PCM, MP3, AAC, TrueHD, etc...) with Passthrough enabled, Infuse will simply switch to Auto for that particular video.Few questions regarding the audio output. Your audio FAQ says:
- Is this true passthrough, or is there any scenario where Infuse will transcode another format into Dolby/DTS?
IIRC, DD+ is available on the ATV4 as well...though this is still 16-bit.- Given that the ATV4k now apparently supports DD+ bitstreaming, will that also be supported in Infuse?
The only global setting that needs to be adjusted when using Infuse's Passthrough option is 'Reduce Loud Sounds' needs to be disabled. Other settings will be disregarded.- How does Infuse's passthrough setting interact with the global ATV audio setting? Which global setting should be used when using passthrough?
This actually refers to audio being packed into S/PDIF (the protocol, not the cable) and sent over HDMI - though we probably could adjust the phrasing to avoid confusion.- Just a comment: the wording in the FAQ is a little confusing, since the ATV4/4k no longer have an S/PDIF port
