I connected my external hard drive to my Wifi 6 Router, then I set the drive as a shared drive. However, movies are not listed on the home screen. There is only “watching “ on home screen. I added some folders to ”Favorite“, but the movies are in list view instead of grid view. How can I change it to grid view ?
You can switch to Grid View by disabling the 'List View' option in Settings. :)

Also, some info on managing favorites and lists can be found here.

I updated one of my AppleTV 4Ks to tvOS 15, certainly on the gen 1 Infuse crushes as soon as I tried to play something - the same situation as last time Apple updated tvOS….

If you use Infuse, don’t update yet.
This should be fixed in the next update. :)

Infuse 7.0.5 is now available! 🙌

Advanced upscaling and major playback improvements on macOS, new playlists screen layout, support for new NFO tags, fixes for our brave friends on tvOS 15, and more.

Enjoy! 🙂

@firecore

Do you guys think you'll ever do a lifetime license sale?

As a very original PlexPass lifetime buyer (like a decade ago now), I love the concept, but Infuse just keeps raising the lifetime license and it keeps making it less, not more, likely that some of us will ever become users.

Sort of frustrating.

(monthly sub has no chance for me - ever - none - zip - zero -- not for a media player)

The lifetime license was discounted for upgrading users for a period of time from 2017 to 2019, but outside of that it has never gone on sale.

The yearly sub is pretty affordable, so maybe that's a good middle ground? The price you subscribe at will never increase. :)

I pay an annual subscription and it’s about the best $10AUD I spend all year. Maybe I should have bought the lifetime licence when I had the chance, but I never regret my Infuse subscription when it comes around.

Do you have a timeline for supporting the new Siri remote? It's a pretty sweet remote, and Infuse is a pretty sweet app. Would be really nice if the two worked together better.
Currently in progress for 7.0.6. :)

Any news about apple opening up atmos for infuse on the new software?
I think Infuse can play Atmos from Apple-compatible sources, no?
Or did you mean opening up bitstreaming to HDMI? Which is the only thing needed for Infuse to support arbitrary audio formats.

They are talking about bitstream passthrough and the answer is, it ain't ever going to happen.
I am at peace with it.

I started a particular movie from a streaming service, stopped it and did not continue, and the movie is no longer available on the streaming service. However, I can still access it and play it using Infuse. How is this possible? Did my AppleTV download it to the AppleTV memory and Infuse is accessing it there? Nice feature if it works on other movies.

I'm a complete idiot with this stuff. Basic question: If I have Infuse and media files on my iMac, and Infuse on my Apple TV, and iPad, can I play the media stored on my iMac on the Apple TV and iPad? Or, do I need additional software to act as a media server? This of course assumes all are on the same wifi network. Apologies if this has been addressed in a previous post, but I wasn't going to read 80+ pages of posts. Thanks!

You don't need Infuse on the iMac to achieve this - just setting up a network shared folder on the iMac is enough, functionality built in to all macs.

But if you also want to use Infuse on the mac, it'll be able to access the same files.

Thanks much. I'm definitely going to try to set this up when I have a bit more time.

Also, a helpful guide with some basic info on streaming from a Mac (or PC/NAS) can be found here.

When you mention HDR tone mapping, I’m curious if this is any form of Dynamic Tone Mapping (DTM), a la’ MadVR PC Renderer, Lumagen Radiance Pro and Envy Video Processors or even Dolby Vision/LLDV?
Tone mapping here refers to taking an HDR video and mapping the colors so they appear correctly on non-HDR displays. This is needed if the Apple TV is connected to an SDR TV and for many iOS and Mac devices as well.

Unfortunately, the ability to do frame-by-frame adjustments on the Apple TV is not possible at this time.
