I've got a question about cut and paste. I've only recently had need to start using this so I don't know if it's a recent problem - or if it's a problem at all - but......
On my iPhone 7 on 10.1 public beta 1, I select text to cut but when I try to extend the selected text by pulling the little bar, the entire block of text gets highlighted in a big box and I then can't shrink it back to the bit of text I want to cut. The box seems to keep jumping about.
Is it just me? Is it a bug? Is it something to do with the pressure feature of the 7?

I'd have to say it has been this way since copy and paste was introduced way back in iOS 3. The section portion has always been a bit flaky and I don't think Apple has modified the feature at all since its introduction in 2009.

So not true. Apps like Real Racing download files as you need them. When I no longer need them I either have to fully uninstall the app or I can run battery doctor. Upon running bttery doctor I get back upwards of 2GB from RR3 alone that I no longer need. It's extremely useful for me.

Got a link to that battery app? I downloaded a battery doctor but didn't see any option to clear cache.

First, I'm not on the attack here, I'm asking questions

"Apps like real racing download files"
"Upon running battery doctor I get back upwards of 2GB from RR3"

Are we talking RAM or storage here?

Real Racing has to download tracks and cars in addition to the game file. Once I complete certain events, I no longer need those tracks and cars again, therefore I don't need them to waste storage anymore. The person you quote said 'cache memory' which I'm assuming refers to storage, not RAM.

Unfortunately, the last update removed it. There is an app that is called Memory & Disk Scanner Pro that offers a cache cleaner. It comes with a free trial before you need to buy the IAP.

Couldn't have said it any better myself. That's the only reason I use battery docto, for Real Racing
Yep, exactly. RR3 downloads huge amounts of files that are only needed for a few minutes at a time.

Well I was certainly referring to RAM cleaning/clearing which is a bad idea in general (at least on iOS). Very weird that an app should be allowed to peer in another app's sandbox and delete files though.

It purges App cache. Any app with "junk" is then cleaned. This is extremely useful with Snapchat, Instagram and Facebook as well because it clears all the cached photos, documents and data in the background as well. I don't use the FB app anymore, but there are times that it would grow from 100MB to 5GB all from cached non-sense. Battery Doctor would get all the storage back without having to delete the app and re download it.

Remember the old 'rent iTunes' movie trick? Battery doctor does the same thing. It artificially fills storage space so then iOS is tricked into clearing cache. So its not breaking any sandboxing rules. Its just iOS being tricked into thinking storage is full so its trying to find more available storage.

Now to your point, RAM cleaning apps are entirely worthless and fake.

I think there was a split between some people with Battery Doctor. that was the only battery app I used to use and wondered why the name changed to Battery Saver and was missing the Battery function (which was the main thing I liked about it). it seems Battery Doctor kept the Battery side of it while Battery Saver took the Memory & Disk functionalities.

I can't get beta 2 to show up on my 7 plus

same here. kept trying last night. after the profile > phone reset thing, when I check for the Beta 2 update, it just says I'm up to date.

Thanks for the above, i wasn't aware that's how it worked. Can you elaborate on your last point re RAM cleaning apps? Battery Doctor can install (i have it) an iOS profile that "clears" RAM. My iPhone 6 is normally around 70% used RAM, after using TapBoost it drops to approx 30% used.

You have the developer beta profile installed and not the public beta profile, right?

Verizon LTE is definitely improved in areas where it used to be God awful. Also I'm saying that the phone overall is a lot smoother and there are less hick ups bugs and stutters. I do believe that this may be the last beta only because new macs are right around the corner and they like to release iOS updates around the same time

Yeah so the RAM portion of the app doesn't actually work. Its completely 'faked'. I've used System Stats which shows the available RAM, then I ran Battery Doctor TapBoost, then went back to System Stats and RAM information remained unchanged. Its not actually purging RAM, its just a fun graphic. System Stats RAM cleaner, 'kind of' works. All it does it just close out all open apps but as soon as you open them again, the RAM is then used again. iOS does a great job at RAM management, but a poor job at cache management, thats why apps like Battery Doctor are useful for cache.

hmm.. not sure. I thought I saw a few posts from Plus users mentioning about animations being smoother after Beta 2. I could be wrong. I'll wait for the official release for my 7. that thing is kind of slow with horrible battery runtimes though. only reason I have Beta on my Plus is just for Portrait Mode.

Portrait mode is the only reason I got it too.

Thanks for the reply, very informative. might as well delete the TapBoost profile then.

Guys i'm on ios 10.1 beta 1 for public .
I still get black screen with blue/green/white line instead of apple logo when I try to hard reset my phone. Do you have this problem too?!
It starts after I installed the first ios 10 beta in summer and it is there too this latest beta.
It also been there when i Installed the ios 10 public release too!
Is it known bug or this problem is just for me?

So is this a hardware issue or software? You are comparing two different devices on two different iOS versions.

Well they are different wallpapers between the two but the gray is lighter on hers. Also on mine it seems to be darker than what I remember seeing. No way to really compare now as I never got a screenshot of the lighter gray.
The background makes all the difference. I just put a 10.0.2 next to my 10.2 beta 2 with the same wallpaper and there is zero change in the shade of the Widgets.

Animations definitely seem cleaned up. Not perfect but better. And RAM management is definitely significantly improved. Far less ram dumping on my 7+

Not seeing that anymore in beta 2.

When I went to install the update yesterday, I noticed that my beta profile was missing. So I had to reinstall the profile and then the update showed up. Not sure what caused it.

Can anyone tell me if the disabled video player controls have returned when watching videos in alien blue?
