Sorry if this has been posted before, but I just noticed it and searched this thread and couldn't find mention anywhere. When you copy an address then double click the home button so the app switcher appears, a box on the bottom pops up and offers to take you directly to maps and get directions.
Neat tip! I got that too, but because I use Google Maps, that's the one that showed up. Problem is (and did anyone else have this problem?), when I tapped the tab to navigate via Google Maps, the app told me it couldn't find directions to the copied address. This is clearly a glitch, because when I cancel and manually tell GM to go to the address, it works.

So...I'm actually IN Boston and wanted to get the local weather on the Weather app....does the parsing seem a little whacked out here?

How can Boston, MA not come up at or very near the top of the list? I think I would literally need to be in one of those other "bostons" to understand why it wouldn't.

Thats annoying but I think that is the same IA that works in maps!!! Absolutely shy write the name street and show first one that is miles away.

This has bothered me for years. This shouldn’t be that difficult. Your phone knows where you are. Search results should be ordered by proximity. I mean, this is a glaring oversight. How could they not have corrected this already?

Not to mention that, if in doubt, default to a population-weighted result. Its waaaay more likely that someone is searching for Boston, MA than Boston, Anywhereelse.

Can someone please answer this: when you search for a song in Spotlight, do you still have to tap that ridiculous play button, or can you just tap the song to start playing?

Also, if you're using a keyboard and press enter (because the song is the top hit) does it start playing or take you to the music app?

In iOS 9, both of those actions just open the music app, they don't start playing the song. It's such a small detail but it drives me nuts.

You still have to tap the play button. If you tap the song, it links you to the respective page in the Apple Music app.

Do you mean using a hardware keyboard? Using a software keyboard and pressing return just closes the keyboard.

Tried using a hardware keyboard. When you press enter or return, it opens the first result (In the case, a song) to the screen on the right.

Thanks. Yes, I meant a hardware keyboard. *sigh* It seams like functionality is unchanged from iOS 9. That's disappointing. I like how in OS X I can just Command-Space and type the first word of a song and press Return to have the song start playing in iTunes. It doens't just take me to iTunes with that song's album open.

A little detail, but one that matters to me. Aw well.

Another detail that proves [that] iOS, even on an iPad, will not be as powerful as macOS anytime soon. Apparently there's no one perfect Apple "computer."

Ah yes the advanced computation required to start playing an mp3 instead of just displaying it in the correct app really proves that

At worst it's a bug or an inconsistentcy

Could you please give us a little more detail?

I used to be able to select or choose alternative navigational app (waze or timtom) once a destination is selected in the apple maps app .. ( alike an external link) ...
But since ios10 .. there's no such option anymore.
Thanks

Are you talking selecting an app for navigation? If so, you can only do that when selecting the Transit or Ride options.

does anyone know about RAW photo editing? does it mean iphones will shoot raw in the future? do you think that will cover a portion of the september keynote? (eg. presenting photo editing 3rd party apps, etc..)
many photographers are already switching to ipads for quick edit and on-the-go posting on internet/social media, i think it's a great tool for that application. i'm positively curious about the "tactile" feel of photo editing with your fingers/pen instead of using a mouse.

Have they removed lockscreen app suggestions or it's not working (connect headphones and music app is suggested)?

Thanks for the info. Bit of a shame, I know it is only a little thing but it really annoys me not being central on the screen.

Jason

It's a design choice they made. Clock is left side on the notification lock screen then shifts to the right side while in the widget screen (with weather taking the left side)

Personally IMO it's a little more elegant than just smack dab in the middle.
