Did Apple just introduced an extra step for requiring those who have Touch ID to press home before unlock, while device is in wake state ?

Bad move, especially for those with the 5.5" device

Hardly, your finger is on the button anyway, not that hard, people have gotten so lazy.

Simply placing your finger over the sensor vs having to actually press it can mean one hand vs two hands operation for 5.5" inch users

Besides 9.3.3 does not require users to press home for unlock while the phone in wake state

How on earth do you need two hands to press a single button on the larger display? I never use my 6s Plus with two hands lol.... especially when unlocking lmao.

Okay, either I've gone mad and it wasn't working from the beginning or my 6s running the beta has just developed a curious bug - vibration is not working within apps or when I flick mute. So, for instance, if I peek at a link within - for example - Safari, the Taptic Engine doesn't do anything, but if I click on a home screen icon or a lock screen notification, it does.

Similarly, the press on the left multitask shortcut works properly and vibrates, as does pressing on the keyboard. With regards to the phone vibration, while pushing mute or plugging the phone in doesn't trigger the vibration, an actual incoming call does.

I've tried restarting the phone to no avail.

Edit: Okay, I've got it - It seems to be linked to keyboard clicks. I turned them off last night and it stuffed up 3D Touch feedback. Just turned them back on and the vibrations are back.

what's the deal with the new larger emojis? I received a single emoji which was large and not contained by a bubble, but then in a later message the emoji's were small again and in a bubble (there was no text with either message)

Maps now uses ambient light sensors to determine the darkness level of the map itself. For example I was sitting in my car at night and I turned on the cabin lights the map went from night view to day view and I turned off the lights it went back to the night view.

Not new.
9.3.2 does this.
I just double-checked.

Updating apps doesn't work, they seem to work but they don't actually update and the update comes back in the tab in the App Store.
But I have just updated a few apps using cellular data, and apps are actually updated.
Only hassle is app should not be updated through mobile data since I turn it off for updates.

Hi

Anyone had a problem with sound not playing through headphones? I tried to watch video via safari and other apps and I just get the occasional crackle rather than any sound at all. A restart didn't fix it. This was a deal breaker for me on my iPad so I'm back with iOS 9.3.2

I can't update snapchat. So I update it through iTunes on my mac and it works.

Regarding the TouchID arguments, do people not realize that you have almost always had to press a button to activate TouchID? Before this update, the screen never turned on by lifting the device. This means that you'd either need to click the home button, the power/wake button, or have the screen light up because of a notification in order to use TouchID. It has never been the case that placing your finger on the button while screen is off unlocks the phone. I realize that the changes make it seem like they've added an extra step but they really haven't. I don't expect them to change this and I honestly hope they don't. If just placing my finger on the button unlocks the device, in my opinion, it will be far too easy to jump past the lock screen, missing notifications or the ability to swipe over to the widgets, pretty much the explanation that they gave on stage. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and maybe it would be best if they added an option or something, I'm just voicing mine.

Yeah, what I've found is that sometimes the notification bubble will return, but I go into the App Store and the updates are still completed. Then the bubble disappears again.

I've been fine listening to music through headphones, but I did have my phone get stuck in headphone mode after removing them yesterday. Reinserting and removing the 'phones again solved my problem.

People just want to whine to whine, nothing more nothing less. That extra 2mm of finger travel to press in the home button is simply too much for them to fathom.

Or they could go find a device that make it is easie....oh wait there are none.

A couple of things right away I noticed about iOS 10 Beta 1:

1) VPN PPTP missing, and the other VPN setup options (IPSEC & L2TP) do not work in my networking environment (despite working before).
2) WatchOS 3 seems to be missing digital touch (instead sends them as undeliverable attachments in iMessage)

Has anyone else noticed these?
