Wallet app still blinds you with brightness upon opening the app. (I know this is present in iOS 9, hope it'd be fixed however.)

Also noticed the copy and paste tools are more consistent, tap once and they'll appear, in iOS 9 they can be awkward.

this blinding brightness is needed for scanning the codes of tickets and etc

It turns the brightness up by design so you can scan barcodes etc.. without an issue

Really? Why would you need it to be full brightness though, just so you can see what you're scanning? Oh. Didn't know that. Thanks.

As far as i understand it it's about scanning a barcode FROM your device (e.g. Tickets etc). These external scanners work better with maximum contrast

Did Apple just introduced an extra step for requiring those who have Touch ID to press home before unlock, while device is in wake state ?

Bad move, especially for those with the 5.5" device
Don't most people wake up their phones by putting their finger on the home button and pressing the button to wake up the screen then it just unlocks. It's no different than what it is now.

So far the bad things I'm having:

- Snapchat tends to not allow me to take a snap, have to restart the app every time
- The latest chat I've had on FB Messenger goes under the search bar. I also can't change from the alphabetical order to Online friends, as that option has been hidden (I can see the bottom of the bar, but can't tap it).
- Have a weird multitasking bug - snapchat does it the best - with the red interference with News i'm guessing (video link below). It does this animation on all apps if it's the only one in the multitasking windows.

Otherwise everything else is good for me :)

Getting a lot of springboard crashes. Facebook is crashing very often and Bank of America app crashes on startup every time. When in Safari and typing it scrolls to the bottom of the page. The app store has major delays.

Also, does anyone know how to change this back to app by app notifications, (eg. on iOS 9) or is it to stay like this?

Yes, and this still works.

However, if you use your lock screen, you will need to press the button to open the device.

Not sure if this is required when you raise to turn on.

How is scrolling in Safari? Often times on my iPad Pro as I'm scrolling there is latency in content loading so I see a sea of white for a second or two until the content loads. If I close out of Safari and go back in it goes away for a while. I'm assuming this is a memory thing?

they've added an extra step for phones that don't have raise to wake
No it's basically the same. Now you swipe and you have widgets. You unlock by pressing the button enter code and you're in. Unless you don't want widgets and prefer to swipe to unlock. Maybe they should have an option to turn on or off widgets?

A couple of things right away I noticed about iOS 10 Beta 1:

1) VPN PPTP missing, and the other VPN setup options (IPSEC & L2TP) do not work in my networking environment (despite working before).
2) WatchOS 3 seems to be missing digital touch (instead sends them as undeliverable attachments in iMessage)

Has anyone else noticed these?
They moved everything to the messages on watchOS 3. The reason why on iOS 10 you can send digital touch messages. Also if you're sending these messages to people that don't have iOS 10 or watchOS 3 they won't get it.

Your steps are only one possible use case scenario. Remember the point of the lock screen changes- they were done so iPhone 6s users can see the notifications on their lock screen more easily right? So, remember that users you may not want to unlock to home screen immediately.

As an iPhone 6 user, in the past, you might have turned on the screen with the home button and immediately removed your finger from the button. You could then review and interact with your notifications - something that was always possible because the Touch ID is slow. After you'd finished with the notifications and while the screen was still on from your initial home button press, you could rest your finger on the home button to unlock it.

Now, though, you have to press it once more to unlock to home screen. That's an extra step.
If the screen is off and you press the home button it unlocks right away like it did before. At least on my 6s

Loving the new Heavy Rotation section on the Music App. I think that alone is a reason to upgrade to iOS 10. Once again kudos to Apple for continuing to innovate with pure emphasis on the user!

There's no Memories tab on my Photos app. How to enable it? On my Mac it works fine, but no sign of it at all on my iPhone. And the smart search feature also doesn't work. Help, please?

Pretty stoked because Universal Clipboard works even between iOS devices!

My iCloud account is f***ed though so most stuff only syncs from iPhone to iPad. Never the other way around except for iCPL and Safari data. So, universal clipboard only goes iPhone --> iPad not iPad --> iPhone.

Very annoying. I moved to a totally new iCloud account to try and fix and it did no thing but switch which device would be one-way!!!

Grrrr!!!!

I think this happens more often on 1GB ram devices than on 2GB ram devices. Don't know much about iPad Pro 12.9".
That makes sense. I discovered (by looking at logs) that it isn't a springboard crash... It's a Jetsam Event. Running out of memory. Usually memory management avoids crashes and such from lack of RAM but obviously something is screwed with that in iOS 10 where lack of memory crashes the whole device.
Just popping in to say I love the new animation for messages when the bubble slides in after sending. So crispy.

Can't really say much else about it. Nothing spectacular.
See, I feel the opposite. On my iPad it skips so there is like no animation and it looks terrible. It's so fast on my iPhone that it pretty much is nothing. Yeah, I'm weird lol.
I just found a bug where random static plays through when navigating with headphones plugged in.

Edit: Bug has been reported to Apple.
I've had this as well but I feel like it has happened even before this beta...
Could someone screenshot the new camera view on iPad?
https://imgur.com/a/SNDsy
seems like folders don't have the blur effect anymore on iPad Mini 2 its just transparent now. Is this on all A7 devices?
I get this too on my iPad mini 2 and it looks fugly to be honest. My iPhone 6 is fully blurred. https://imgur.com/a/9ZcVt
Battery life is a mess on iOS 10.
Honestly, it's a lot better for me than it was on iOS 9 lol. My iPad mini 2 typically barely makes it past 6 hours of use, last I checked I was at 5 hours with 35% remaining.
I've been lucky. Battery life has been the same as any iOS 9 build.

Really surprised how well this first beta runs. It's my daily.
Yeah it runs fantastic on my iPhone 6. iPad mini 2 is terrible though. Very frequent Jetsam Events that crash the entire thing to a black spinning wheel, extremely laggy animation when going in and out of apps at times, extremely laggy when going to e home screen from the app switcher. Other new blurred areas such as scrolling over to the new widget area is terribly laggy.

It's the first beta though, I'm sure it will get better.
iOS 10 Beta1 Battery life >>>>>>>>>>>> iOS 9 Beta 1 Battery life
That's how you need to compare iOS 10 with iOS 9 battery life, no sense in comparing beta with stable
Haha yes, didn't it run people's devices dry in just a few hours without even using it or something? I remember hearing awful things about battery life for the first iOS 9 beta. On my iPhone 6, iOS 10 beta 1 has been far better than iOS 9 beta 3 (public beta 1) was.
I noticed that when on lock screen if you go right and search calculator and click on it and then pull down notifications and then click on a notification or for example the calendar a different darker looking keyboard appears (and I don't have any keyboard apps) and doesn't go away unless you go to another search field, is the darker keyboard new to iOS 10,(I feel like I have seen it somewhere) or was it there before? either way though it appearing and then staying even when you unlock the phone is a bug.

(At lock screen)

(After on home)
That is weird. That's the alphanumeric passcode entry keyboard.
Ive been lucky when it comes to battery life on past betas.

But in beta 1 I just went on a ten minute break at work and it dropped 5% in that time. Brutal right now. #beta
Hmm. I wonder why some people are getting such varied results? iOS 10 is better on my battery on my iPad mini 2 to be honest. Slightly worse on my iPhone 6 but that's because I was letting someone play around with the new photos and messages apps for a very long time today and those must still be full of inefficient code. They are at the top of my usage list.
Gotta say the beta is very smooth (minus the bugs).

The animations/transitions are smooth, apps launch quicker, etc.

It'll only get better.

Yeah I'm running it on my daily driver iPhone 6... Very, very solid actually.

I think it does this so if you have like a Starbucks card the reader can see the barcode. Or at the movie theater to get in.
