Oh, that indeed looks quite better. Thanks.

Here is one from the lock screen (better showing that the dark does have translucency)

nope, still the green water gun

They aren't going to. It's clearly Apple's version of censorship. Don't want to say anything to get this moved to PRSI, but there are some serious unintended consequences by Apple going rogue with emojis...

For example, the simple suggestion of a picnic in the park could say something like this on iOS:

would look significantly different on an Android or Windows device.

IMO, Apple should either remove the gun emoji completely or work within the consortium to address the issue. The "water pistol" is NOT a solution. At. All.

Well I've worked out the parked car. It no longer records you parking at home (worked in Beta 4 but not in Beta 5 so maybe needs adding to changes?). It does however work for me away from home apart from the lock screen notification.

Only the widgets coded against the iOS 9 SDK have dark backgrounds and that's because the Today view used to have a dark background. I'm sure as soon as iOS 10 is released to the general public and debs will be able to upload apps coded against the iOS 10 SDK all widgets will have light backgrounds.

I happen to prefer the iOS 9 version - light text on a dark background square and a lighter colored page background/blur.

But what do I know, right?

I think that Apple added the homescreen layout to the icloud. I restored and "set up as new" and the stock apps are in the exact same order as they were on 9.3.4. Or maybe they just changed the order and it's just a coincidence, here it is:

If your intention is to ask someone to bring a gun then perhaps typing g-u-n is better than communicating like a 12 year old girl.

Um, first of all, I would never invite someone to the park and suggest that they bring a weapon of any kind (water pistol and water bombs excluded)... and secondly, is that the whole point having emojis in the first place? (that is, to allow one to communicate like a 12 year old girl)

It was there for some of us in beta 4 and still there in beta 5. Curious if those who had issues in beta 4 are seeing it now...
I had it on B4, and still have the issue on B5 - on a VZW Air 2, ATTWS 6S, and VZW 6S+. Then, and today, I tried Reset All Settings and removing/re-adding keyboards - nada. :( Tapping on the Emoji Keyboard highlights relevant words 100% of the time, so they're recognized, and I can change the highlighted words by tapping on them... o_O

My caveat is that I've updated from 9.3.3 through each Beta. I wanted to wait a bit to do a fresh install and may do that on one of the iPhones later today.

Let's say I accept your premise as true. In that case a water pistol is fine, since 12 year old girls shouldn't be taking guns anywhere. Grown ups can type the word.

Same issue here.

iPhone 6S+ performance is now stupid fast. They remove the screen blur on app open (that doesn't show up for most other phones anyway). It's now smooth as a baby's bottom.

Yeah I was just noticing this too! I liked the blur effect but will gladly go back to the old iOS 7-9 animation in exchange for better performance.

I'm getting better cell reception on this new beta. I used to have around 3-4 bars on my "spot" in my bedroom and now I'm having 5 bars all the time. Not a glitch too, showing as -63 to -65dBm in field test app.

I'm referring to when you get a notification and you scroll past the reply options. There's a dismiss button to dismiss the notification. It hasn't worked for me in any of the betas. It returns me to Notification Center or the watch face but the notification is still there.
works for me in Beta 4.

Whether or not you accept my premise, Apple (or any other company) should not be circumventing the consortium that oversees the whole cross-platform emoji thing. They've gone rogue. What's the point of even participating? Imagine the reaction if the Android team had taken this attitude and just started changing emojis all willy-nilly...

IMO, Apple is free to not offer anything in the slot of "gun" - just display a blank space. But to commandeer the process is wrong.

Truly the pressing issue of our times.
