Think about it: the iPhone introduces most of the missing features that Android phones have, including screen size, and BAM! - record sales.

Meanwhile, 60% of existing owners refuse to upgrade to the current hardware design, and now sales are in decline from last year's peak.

Drag isn't a negative word: it's neutral. Vote for no.
Substitute "stay with" as opposed to "drag" and then see which one actually comes off as neutral and which one doesn't.

I'm paying a high price of 700-800 dollars for my phone, I want it to have a beautiful and precise design. Else I would buy a cheap plastic phone for 200 dollars.
With design being largely subjective you can certainly go with what comes closer to the desires that you have.

Gotta be in it to win it
My information about what ? The criticized iPhone 6 design ? Well just look on MacRumors (for example) at reactions after the iPhone 6 announcement and sorry but sales doesn't mean customer satisfaction.
So an anonymous internet forum where maybe about 30 or 40 people have expressed their opinions outweigh 75 million customers? I agree sales doesn't mean customer satisfaction, but surveys like JD Powers will show customer satisfaction. But pegging your whole talking point on an anonymous internet forum is well...you know.

I think it's time to stop LOL. It's not the sales numbers that make me believe the design is crap.
You can certainly think what makes sense to you, it just doesn't mean that your opinion actually makes it so though in general and for others.

You knew what the iPhone would look like before you bought it. Why are you complaining about it now? Or rather, why would you buy an iPhone knowing fully well there are aspects you are unhappy with?

I am using the 6S+ naked and you know what? I find I have come to appreciate the feel and shape of it in my hand. It doesn't feel like the slippery bar of soap people are making it out to be and I am still able to comfortably manipulate it with one hand.

I agree that iOS still feels a bit rough around the edges, but I have no doubt that Apple will continue to refine the design with future updates of ios. I quite like it. Moreso than ios6 at any rate.

I'm not complaining, I was answering to the guy who said that smartphones aren't a piece of jewelry and I assume meant that we shouldn't care about design.

I also have a 6s (the regular not plus) and I'm liking it a lot but I was just saying that Jony Ive have been sleeping these days by all the complains of the general public compared to a very few before.

By the way, I'm also using it naked and damn, it is so slippery for me I'm always dropping it (not on hard surface) but I have to agree it feels excellent in the hand. ;)

Not a visual overhaul, but perhaps the beginning of major functionality changes.

My theory is that 3D Touch will have a large influence iOS 10 functionality. Apple was never convinced that widgets as seen in Android provided enough value, and now they have an entirely new interaction method to build their own information access/surfacing paradigm on top of. Interesting things are ahead in this area.

I've always hated the flat iOS design. It seems like Google got flat better than Apple :-/

Yes, they have fixed a few things in iOS 8 and 9, yes they got flat OS X right, ... but for god's sake, bring back some depth to this corpse-dead interface please :( And reduce the white point.

Really? You would never be able to tell how "underwhelming and uninspiring " is based on the latest sales figures. But that aside I'm sure there will be some refreshes and tweaks; only Apple knows if it's a wholesale redesign.
That doesn't apply at all in here. Focus on design and opinion, not numbers
[doublepost=1455500316][/doublepost]
It means you're wrong and because the OP doesn't like it, so it's not possible for anyone else to like it. Because it's so poorly designed, because the OP says it is.
Because hundreds of users think the same, not just OP. There's a whole world outside this forum.

What in that case?
Strongest opinion wins, as simple as that. So stop voting with your sarcasm, and simply, vote.

Haven't i seen you before on other forums? Using the same kind of sarcasm?
Because with all due respect you look like a serious user, capable of more than that

Yeah, i would really like a new design. This one's not bad, but it doesn't feel fit for me. Like there's something wrong or missing.
They shouldn't have thrown away every aspect from iOS6

Uh...source?

Unless of course you're intentionally confusing sales GROWTH, with unit sales.

Hundreds of users think the same as OP but are such a small minority of the hundreds of millions of iOS users worldwide. The vast majority like how it is currently or they don't even care if the UI is like iOS 6 or iOS 9 or however it will look in iOS 148. They simply just use their device in how it is presented to them. They don't worry about if a button looks like a button from 4+ years ago and then complain about it. (quite frankly if someone doesn't know what a "button" in iOS 7-9 after 3 years looks like by now, I don't know what else to say to them.)

It is because Google’s designers understood that flat design is not possible without visual affordances. Shadows, contrasting colours and animations compensate the loss of visual cues due to the flat aesthetic. Apple has not made that choice, they went for minimalism over affordances.

Just saying 5 and 6 can be said for the Samsung line as well. 7 is purely a judgement call. I like the look. 8 has nothing to do with anything, however the genius of that battery case lies in it's simplicity.

Not really.Samsung has still stuck with some sort of chamfered edge approach and their S6 is easier to hold than the 6.I tried both. And Samsung is really irrelevant here considering that iPhone 4,5s did not have this issue at all.7 is not a judgement call.It is a factual design flaw.Even Jony Ive himself agrees as he removed those lines in the iPhone 7.
The battery case looks horrible compared to the other beautifullay designed third party options.Even Tim Cook had to give out a damage control interview about it
Hold on a second. How do you know iphone sales are dropping? Can you tell me the latest sales figure from the last quarterly earnings report?

Yes Tim Cook predicted drop in sales next quarter
Most iPhone owners have refused to buy the current design and Tim knows it. He may not have a clue about design but he will be prompted by such resistance.
I agree. There is a reason why Apple didn't go for their new design in the 5se
I'm not sure you really understand the simple reality of today's apple customer base. I don't know where you get your information but last quarter for example, apple sold 75million iphones. That's quite a feat for a hugely critical device. Everything else is a straw-man argument.
[doublepost=1455483621][/doublepost]
So last quarter, according your reasoning, there were 75 million new customers?
Justin Bieber is popular. His albums are crap.Call of Duty sells millions of copies and is one of the highest selling video games worldwide.Battlefield sells a fraction of how much COD sells.Yet it's universally accepted that it's a much higher quality title than COD

In Android,Samsung is one of the top selling OEMs .it has a very crappy update policy.Nexus is better than it yet Samsung keeps breaking sales records

Twilight is a crappy romance story yet it sells like hotcakes
Higher sales does not equal a better product.

Samsung is moving to rounded edges on the S7. So I guess that'll somehow make them harder to hold as well? If it was a bad design choice by Apple since the 6 then why are Samsung also now going to be doing it? Also, impossible to hold without a case? (Not surprised you continue to over exaggerate everything.) I must be defying the impossible then and anyone else who also don't use cases.

Samsung phones have an even bigger camera hump, so it must be even more impossible for Samsung phones to sit flat.

How are antenna bands a "factual design flaw?" And how does changing them in the iPhone 7 mean it's Ive admitting or agreeing it's a "factual design flaw"? With that kind of logic then that means iPhone 6/6+, 6s/6s+ removing of chamfered edges is admitting those were also a "factual design flaw" in older iPhones.

I'm not sure you ever think things through.
[doublepost=1455511879][/doublepost]

So what you're saying is a smaller phone is easier to hold? That's pretty obvious and it has nothing to do with its edges.

5. Also responsible for designing the whoops-there-it-goes feel of the larger iPhones making them impossible to use without a case
6. Also responsible for the camera bump which makes it impossible for for an iPhone to lay flat on a surface.SJ would have gone crazy about this flaw had he been alive
7. Also responsible for designing those ugly antenna lines on the back of the iPhone which Apple is correcting in the iPhone 7
8. Also responsible (?) for designing that atrocious battery case
9. Also responsible for "Designing" the vibrating chassis of the Air 2.He made it do damn thin the whole chassis vibrates like a motor engine when I play a game or see a movie

Yet, you still buy their products which shows zero integrity on your part.

I can imagine you at a restaurant "This food sucks! can I have more please?"

You have well-established yourself as a stringent critic of iPhones in this forum - wasting no time in pointing out their flaws and nit-picking at every single semblance of lag and 'non-smoothness'.

Yes, you are entitled to your opinion.

However, your irrationality at holding stubbornly onto a product that you despise so much and not moving on to other better alternatives tells people a lot about your character. This then extends to the (ir)relevance of your opinions.

Personally I'd like to see "some" tweaks to iOS 10 but on the whole I'm fairly happy with iOS as it stands.

Perhaps the design team could use weather data to change the icon on the screen (rather than sunny all of the time!) and minor changes like that.

Sorry bud, the Samsung s6 line is as easy, or hard to hold as the iPhone 6/6s. I don't know what that proves except smaller phones are easier to grip. Antenna lines okay whatever. Battery case now we're back on topic. :D Justin bieber laughing to the bank; quarterly drop come back to me in April when Apple has yet a smaller record breaking quarter. Posts do cover the gamut of everything off topic and through it all Apple is still the most valuable company in the world regardless of one persons opinion of slippery-gate, antenna-gate and battery pack-gate. Say what you will but that accounts for something.
