So you have an iPhone X? Aren’t you gonna sell the other phones?

Yeah. Mine just arrived. I am seeing if it works for me. So far the display size doesn’t seem that much smaller to me.

I am thinking of downgrading to 11.1.2 and use my 7 Plus to check out the imminent jail break. I haven’t decided on whether I am going to sell it or keep it just yet.
[doublepost=1513397752][/doublepost]
Then why apple update older devices?
To give the impression that they are supported so they can trash talk Android. It’s recommended to keep your device on the iOS version it shipped with for the best performance. Otherwise never update it beyond a further 2 iOS versions. It’s guaranteed to lag at that point.

Well good luck with the X.

Who recommended sleeping your iPhone on the version of iOS it shipped with? I don’t and many people I know don’t either. It’s always a subjective decision.

Battery life is incredible on this beta!! /s No but seriously, there IS an improvement, even if minor. And I’m experimenting with ways to extend battery life too.
[doublepost=1513406635][/doublepost]Oh yeah, I flipped on low power mode at about 1%, meant to do it a little bit sooner but no biggie. My phone died in the middle of that phone call though. Haha

Any iOS device always has the highest efficiency and performance on the version it ships with. Take my iPhone 7 Plus for instance. 7 hrs battery with moderate usage and Apple tells me this is normal battery usage times for 7 Plus. Then there is the home button delay.

On iPhone X, with the same usage as my 7 Plus I connected mine to the charger at 10.5 hrs usage with moderate use. The same iPhone X which Apple says lasts 1 hour lesser than the 8/7 Plus in battery. I am not upgrading this device to 12. It’s perfect as it is.

Nothing like making an opinion appear as fact. My 5s is doing great on iOS 11.2.5 b1. In fact imo better than iOS 7. Of course that’s a way back but iOS 7 wasn’t a stellar release.

My iPhone 6s, 6s+ and iPhone 7 don’t have any performance issues on iOS 11 nor delays.

Good luck in keeping the x on iOS 11.

let the man ask, don´t be a...

There is a specific reason I did that. It is not my general way.

I had received a message from him regarding 11.2 on 5s, and despite me telling him that I have installed it and it is working just fine for me, despite there being other members reporting positively about 11.2 on 5s, he insisted that I do a screen recording video and upload it.

It seems to be a trend where he is quite apprehensive to update, but really wants to update as well, but would not trust people when they tell him something. Therefore, I asked him to try for himself for once, as he would be the best judge for him. :)

This beta is running really nice on my X to be honest i would say its the best so far :)

I am enjoying your posts, ever since you got the X. Apple's X factor seems to be working for you.

$5 says you put iOS 12 on your X when it’s released.

No I am not. After dealing with the headache that is the 7 Plus I am not going to install new iOS versions on any of my newer iDevices and that has already started with my new iPad. iPhone X is next

Here is my iPad Pro 12.9 2017 still running iOS 10.3.3 with zero battery problems and a super fast home button.

I'm trying to do the same thing with my 7 Plus. Currently on 10.3.3 and I'm happy, but some of those iOS 11 features are very tempting...

I enjoy my fast home button too, FWIW. :D

I wouldnt try updating it to 11. Battery drain, delays and even ram management is bad. I am happy with my X running iOS 11 but even so RAM management on iOS 11 is still not fixed even with 11.2. I was just watching this speed tests and budget phones like One Plus and Razer have better ram management. iPhone 7 on iOS 10.3.3 was destroying all Androids in speed tests. I look forward to when Apple regains that title.

I’m not making excuses, but I’d love to see how those phones do with 3GB of ram instead of 8GB! Ram management will get better and has always been impressive on iPhones.

I don't think this points out iOS 11's poor RAM management. It just shows that the other phones can hold more apps in memory because they have more memory. Give those phones 3GB and I'd love to see how they fare.

It’s partly because some android phones like the one plus 5T removed the launch animation for apps, so they can save a little time on app launching, and gives them some extra seconds to win in these “speed test” on YouTube. But in day to day use, it doesn’t feel like these phones perform better. The 8GB RAM may help these android phones keeping more apps in the background, but we have to take into consideration that these “speed test” starts right after the phone restarts, and sometimes with no extra apps installed in the phone, so no extra background load. In real usage, there’s quite a lot of Android apps which are secretly starting themselves in the background after you use the phone for a while (some android apps don’t even use the Google push notifications service, and they always have a process in the background just for notifications), so there’s not gonna be so much free RAM in actual usage.

iOS 11 was buggy at the beginning, but 11.2.1 is working pretty well and I’m happy with it. These Android phones are having some “cheats” on animation speed, etc. that impacts much more in the result of these YouTube test videos than real performance, just like a few years ago some phones would get special optimizations to perform better in benchmark apps, it’s kind of a marketing thing now.

I have some friends at work who bought the one plus 5t, and it appears that their battery dies hours before my iPhone X. And obviously A11 is much faster on heavy tasks comparing to Snapdragon 835 in real usage.

My 6S+ is also good on 11.2.5 B1. I only installed it late last night and this is the first battery usage for a day on it. Usage of 5hrs and 42mins with Standby of 14hrs and 25mins, battery showing 20% left still. Thats good for me!

I moved to LG G3 from my iPhone at the time. Started great, I loved the customisation and still do with Android, BUT once I got using it over the few days and apps were loaded on, etc, it really did get laggy and annoying with it. The supposedly larger and better screen just wasn't that at all and Android ended up doing my head in. I want to like it, I tried it, however I am staying with Apple for now. There is nothing yet that tempts me away. I just wish i could 'trial' a phone for a proper amount of time to see what it's like in the real world of how I use them.

The RAM thing is actually also an ecosystem thing.

As a developer, I've heard some companies with multiple apps doing this on Android: When you launch one of their apps, all of the other installed apps of the same company would launch in the background. Obviously this won't happen in iOS under Apple's control. This problem is especially annoying in China, as Google Play Service is not available there and all the Android apps would like to keep a process in the background. (That's why some Android phones have 6GB RAM worldwide, but sells an 8GB RAM version in China.)

I use both iOS and Android (as test devices) at work. Sometimes I do miss the flexibility of Android on my iPhone, but most of the time, the iPhone simply has much better app quality, the ecosystem is cleaner, and the overall user experience is better.

That's quite a variety of phones to be using on a regular basis to make a judgment. Lol

Seems like various others are using a variety of devices as well fairly regularly and are making all kinds of calls as well. Seems like something that's really neither here nor there.
