All I see when viewing the thread on my phone are 6 links somewhere. I'm not really planning to click and go off somewhere six different times to try to figure out what's going on if some sort of a description can't be provided for what this is all actually about.

Yes, I am also seeing a lot of this.

Glad to know it's not just me...

I was having some issues with cellular service before, but Beta 5 seemed to resolve them. Beta 6 seems to be working good as well.

I haven't dropped down to HSPA yet on Beta 6. Not sure if I ever did on Beta 5...I can't recall it happening. I live and work in a fairly good service area though.

Interesting, I was hoping 5 and 6 would help, but don't seem to...

I have never started fresh. My backup can literally trace it's roots to my iPhone 3G.
I have the same experience. My backup is very old, iPhone 4, and has been on a 5, 5s, 6, 6s, 7, 8 and now X with all public betas ever available. Never had any major problems that caused reason to start from fresh. I have so many individual settings that I rely on that I wouldn’t wanna go throught writing them all down before installing from fresh.

My iPad config goes all the way back to the first ever iPad. Same experience.

I don’t even remember how old my Mac setup is... many years back. No critical problems ever.

I think there are to many people screaming ”Do a fresh install”. The few problems I have ever had was solved by deleting the app that was trublesome and reinstall it. That has solved 99 per cent of my problems. The other 1 per cent has been solved with upcoming system updates.

Seeing an issue in apple music starting with this beta. If I start a station it will occasionally have issues advancing to the next song. It will go, the album art and song length will load, but it won't play. If I try scrubbing it won't have any impact and if I go to the next song it is at that position in the song and won't play. Had to play around with airplane mode and opening and force closing the app for near 10 minutes earlier today. So far it has done it 3 times since I updated.

I think there's something wonky with Apple Music in general right now. I'm on 11.3.1, and I've had issues with advancing music not just on the radio, but also locking up when I try to skip (downloaded!) songs in general. This just started today for me.

I do.

"Good for him."

I've carried my backup nearly as long and I don't have 95% of the issues I see people report in these threads. It's a shame that so many people continue to recommend sacrificing your data for a better experience because based on my personal experience (and in my own opinion, obviously) it just isn't necessary.
I never restore backups nor have I ever “sacrificed” my data. I Just utilize iCloud’s free cloud storage. 5gb is more then enough for me at least for the next few years. All my media is streamed and stored in Cloud as well. It’s no different from your backups...I just resign into my accounts and its all there.

Don’t write them down. Take screen shots.

(Just remember to airdrop them to your computer before wiping your phone. ;-)

Most apps and services have this cloud-based backup system nowadays but it hasn't always been so. And there still isn't a way to retain Messages with a fresh install. They're working on it but it's still riddled with bugs from what I have read.

Even more so, iOS 9 brought all the iPad multitasking features and a lot of other large improvements. In iOS 12 the biggest change rumored is a redesigned stock app...I see a lot more potential for focusing on bugs and polish this time around.

Get a new battery and do a full restore, I had a customer come in the other day to get a new phone upgrading from her iPhone 5s. Only reason she was upgrading was her battery life was shot. I used her phone for a minute and it felt perfectly usable and smooth. People need to understand that every major update you really should wipe and start fresh. I get way to many people upgrading their phone because “it’s slow” when they could save a lot of money spending the hour to do a factory reset on their devices.

well...now that I finally have Messages in iCloud working well (set them up on Wednesday) on all my Devices I CAN do it....Woo Hoo!

So many settings?

It's an iPhone! :D

I believe that he is talking mostly about his installed apps...

The issue with all message threads and attachments are not being fully restored when doing a clean install is still present in this beta

When you say you have “iMessages working well” can you elaborate? As far as I know all you have to do is “enable” imesssages in iCloud settings. Is there more to set up and tweak?

Anyone having any issues playing music on Apple Watch with this iOS beta? I used to be able to tell my Apple Watch to play an album and it would play from my iPhone’s music library (I don’t use Apple Music). Now when I ask my Apple Watch to play a song or album the Siri interface just stops and nothing happens. Only started since iOS 11.4 betas. I have an Apple Watch series 3 (non-cellular) on 4.3 (non-beta) and iPhone X on 11.4 beta 5. Tried hard resets and unpairing/repairing.

Can anyone else confirm this? I’m curious if this is widespread so we can add it to the list of bugs for 11.4. It is working great for me otherwise.

I try to do it on the Watch without Siri and the same thing happens. 11.3.1 is fine in this regard, though.

Yea. And Siri on my phone running 11.4 beta is fine too. The problem seems to be specific to playing on-device music from the iPhone when requesting it from Siri on the watch. I don’t have Apple Music to see if that makes a difference.
