Because the loyal defenders are apples majority which translates to polls, media/online publication to keep apple on top. Potential buyers see apple leading and presume their money should go there.

Meanwhile whiners with genuine issues like me are kept somewhere in forum discussion wilderness. Shot down at every opportunity by blind defence/loyalty. People like myself dont usually make it to polls and such, forums and media have no interest in my feedback if it doesnt fit their agenda to keep apple safe from harm
Except that "loyal defenders" or "dissenters" even all together don't come even close to being a majority that the typical consumers who don't care about going out of their way to publicly praise or put down just another thing they use in their life represent.

iMessage cloud sync didn’t come with iOS 11. Nor did p2p payments. And no. Delivering late is not delivering per promises. But hey defend Apple. Defenders like you are why they have lost so much of their luster.

You keep saying same thing over and over. First of all, no "promises" were made or ever have been to the best of my knowledge. I hate to be nit-picky with words, but since you keep using it repeatedly, "promise" isn't the right word here. Second of all, I've known for months that neither of those two items would make 11.0. They announced that months ago. If you thought they would be in 11.0, that's on you, not them. So from my point of view, they haven't broken any "promises" this year in regards to iOS 11.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say. Try constricting a sentence.
You stated my statement was nonsense by protesting 1 billion iphones sold, presumably the majority of that number will naturally defend their purchase is all i am saying. What is it you dont get?

If 1 billion people own an iphone then chances are the majority are happy with their iphones and have some degree of loyalty to the brand Vs the minority (like me) who have issues and having a negative experience. It doesnt matter because like i said the majority (call it your 1 billion) will defend apple as you are doing here, while any negativity from the minorities (me) will be sneered at, as you have demonstrated above

Kinda like a circle-jerk of putting the naysayers in their place

I haven’t read every single post in this thread so pardon if it has been asked or brought up already but, could Apple incorporate a similar UI that Apple Watch has to where you essentially have endless customization of the home screen, circular apps, etc? I understand the watch UI was purposefully designed because of the application of being on a small screen. Someone a while ago posted a video on YouTube showcasing what a watch UI would look like on an iPhone and it was really really sharp. Quite frankly, I have zero complaints overall with iOS 11 and the current UI but having something new and fresh would be awesome too. I also agree with others when it comes to fewer customizations to keep better stability and security. Stability and Privacy are probably the two things I like best about iOS.

What you actually said was

Because the loyal defenders are apples majority

In attempt to portray an army of loyalty, all against poor little you.

Now your weak sauce follow up, after I point out the obvious fallacy of 1 billion phones being sold to "a majority of loyal defenders" is "presumably the majority of that number will naturally defend their purchase". Your presumptions mean nothing and are so unlikely as to obviously be absurd.

Take a deep breath, calm down, and post whatever your problem is in a rational thread where you're not trying to call anyone who might help you an irrational idiot.

yes, ‘people using their devices’ until they are on forums like this and run into posters like myself who dared to criticise an operating systems ui.
That is enough to bring out some weird defence mechanism in some folk who apparently own the same device as i do, which i love btw. Sadly, iOS11 imo is a mess

Some disagree, others agree, others still have other things they want to talk about, and then the majority couldn't care less about something like these forums, let alone bother "defending" or "dissenting".

Wander into a Boston Red Sox forum and, rather than express any rationality on what your problem is, just accuse everyone of being idiots who were duped. Now do the same on a Ford forum. Now try a Dyson vacuum forum. Now try an android forum. Now try a home schooling forum. When you get back from these forums having gathered useful feedback, please post it.

Alternatively, if you have a problem with your iOS device and manage to not throw your toys out of the pram and accuse everyone but you of being idiots, post a thread with a useful query. There are lots of helpful people here. Put on your big boy pants and try it.

I hear what you are saying. And am not enjoying dragging this out. Its draining. But in my defence I came here earlier to make a comment based on my own opinions, in a forum with the title

“IOS 11 A Foreshadow Of An Underwhelming 10 Year Iphone Release”

The title alone and my posting on this particular thread seems pretty justified

For some that's certainly the case, as it is pretty much every year. For the vast majority, it's more or less just another year basically.

Hi, one could say I'm an old iSheep or Fanboy. I live well with this. But then there's where I'm heading and where my dear Apple is heading. I don't wanna part with Apple but I'm not going in the 1500$ (yes in Canada) iPhone direction. Actually, such a marvel of technology, if this is one, made me think of the necessity of being so avant-garde iPhone talking. The young and the younger will probably fall for a 1000$ + iPhone but the older fans and customers like me, I'm not so sure. So if iOS 11 and iPhone X represent the future of Apple, count me out. I probably will stick to my dinosaurian 5s, maybe try to buy a used 6s Plus and that will be it. I can afford a 2500$ iPhone but one has to ask himself: what am I gonna do better with this? Or will it better suit my needs? To me, it's the same as when you go to the dealer: a Chevy Cruze or a BM? Answer is easy when you need a car for basic transportation like I do. As for jumping ship, no way, I can't stand and understand Android. And I'm sticking to iOS 10 for now...My 2 cents.

I'm not saying Apple OWES me .. I'm simply saying users have a right to rely on their announcements in making purchase decisions, and when they make purchase decisions based on advance announcements of features they'll be able to use, they have every right to feel disenfranchised. But hey, keep defending Apple's shortcomings, this is why Apple has become the mess they've become. Because people just give them a pass.

Its this that drives me mad. The blind defense no matter what. Apple have so many actual fans that just can not, will not, hear anything negative being discussed. Its like they have an inbuilt antennae that only hears ‘Genuine’ user issues/concerns as negative feedback.

This is such a problem for genuine users as these defenders (no matter what) are in such huge numbers and post all over forums and polls proclaiming their love and misguided support for anything and everything that apple dish out means that any feedback going back to apple is overwhelmingly skewed in favour of blind defence.

Even if apple wanted to progress/improve, the defenders in their majority are telling them they ‘don't have to’ everything's rosy, when in reality these people are soley hell bent in shutting down anyone who could genuinely offer apple constructive feedback, even though it may come from critical observations, its coming from users who love their iDevices and enjoy their iOS experience as much as the defenders who simply choose to unsee any issues. Things that could be rectified if they chose to be honest.

Yeah, it baffles me. I think there may be a lot of their 80k employees here.

Such delays are not new in the industry and certainly not only applicable for Apple. It’s better to delay things until they’re implemented properly rather than releasing something half baked. More than me not having a clue, I think you just don’t understand anything about the industry and have unrealistic expectations.

Generally Google and Microsoft stick true to their commitments when they announce specific features that'll be in a release when they are within 90 days of release. Anything other than meeting those features is just bad project management.

So did Apple say these features would be available upon iOS 11 launch? Alternatively, did Apple mention somewhere that they won’t be there?

When Apple says months ahead of time that a feature is coming in iOS 11 (not specifically 11.0), then a week later clarify that those items won't in fact be in 11.0 but will be in a later 11.x release, I don't see how that is Apple's fault. They never kept it a secret. They were clear and upfront about things. The fact that you didn't follow the news as closely as others does not mean I'm defending Apple. Take some personal responsibility here. And quit claiming they "promised" it would be available on release day. Or, provide a link to that promise. Otherwise you're just whining about your own lack of education, both on iOS 11.0 features and marketing in general. You're holding them to "promises" that exist only inside your own head.

I admire your commitment to this thread that i mistook for being a thread for users to offload some disappointment with the new OS. Unfortunately others got wind of us being here and true to form came with their patronisingly demeaning response to your thread and any supporting comments to it.

Its futile mate. Guess this is just the wrong forum to be in without a positive apple worldview. Best of luck ;)

If you don't want a public conversation where others are free to offer up their opinions, don't post in a public forum. That's like going to the ER and complaining that the other people there aren't in the mood to dance. Some suggestions for you: a phone call, a text message, a group chat held on email with like minded people. There are a myriad of ways you can hold a conversation and without having to be bothered with dissenting opinions. A public forum isn't one of those.

And here we go again! I didnt come here to argue with you people but every time i post something you are on me like tramps on a sandwich.
I came here to agree with the OP and offer my 2 cents and i have been suitably ridiculed for doing so. I get the point.

No need to reply btw. Think its time other members had the floor. Im done with discussing back and forth the rules of etiquette on forum discussion

When your $0.02 mentions others coming here "with their patronisingly demeaning response to your thread", then you've lost the right to the claim that you're just here to support the original poster. That was a very direct attack against those that disagree with you. So either drop the innocent act or admit that you're poking the bear just as much as everyone else.

Sorry I missed out on your "rules of etiquette of forum discussion". I'm sure it would have been insightful. Or not. After all, I AM just a "tramp on a sandwich".

That’s what gets me.

*get a bad reaction* B..B..but you’re all mean :(

What the f are people expecting? Got a problem? That sucks, me too. Come and discuss it like an adult.
