The issue of triviality when it comes to bugs like alignment inconsistencies are only trivial when they don’t relate to reasons you prefer the product over others. One of the things that draws me to the Apple ecosystem is the higher emphasis they place on attention to detail and the higher level of precision they strive for in their products than competitors.

I use Windows because between the types of software and database development I work on and gaming, it’s really the only platform I can use. This means design inconsistencies and general UI/UX awkwardness is irrelevant because it’s not necessarily all that bad and even if it was, what choice is there given my requirements.

I use my iPhone to browse the web, text, make calls, etc. There are many other smartphones out there that would give me the exact same functionality (at least so far as I use) as an iPhone. The difference in this case is the performance, polish, and attention to detail paid to the iPhone and iOS’s design compared to those other products. This elevates UI/UX wonkyness and uniformity issues higher than their triviality would suggest. Not game breaking, just not unimportant either.

Last night, I did a backup of my phone via iTunes on PC. I then immediately disconnected and upgraded the phone from 10.3.3 to 11.0 over-the-air. If I restore the phone from that backup I made last night, will it replace iOS 11 with iOS 10.3.3? Or, is there a separate "downgrade" process I must use?

Anytime you have calculator issues where you can get 1 + 2 + 3 to equal 23, you have a problem. Yes I realize that if you use the calculator slowly, you will not have this issue. The fact that you have to slow down your workflow in iOS bothers me. I have been an Apple fan for quite some time and this one has me scratching my head saying how did THIS get released with these bugs. I have had more app freezes in the past 24 hours than I have at any other time.

Whoa... first time I've seen this. That's really bad.

I love it - people complain that Apple never changes the looks of anything and then when they change things people complain about it.
Are there some things I don't love but they are insignificant and probably won't notice them in a week - meanwhile my 6s is faster and smoother than any other IOS that has been on it. That is more important to me that the look or alignment of an ICON

Listen, I'm not saying what I'm about to say to start anything but if you really look at the the past few years, Apple has turned into a company putting out beta products at a premium and nickel and diming customers. Maybe some ppl always felt that way. The initial Apple Watch, siri, the portrait mode. They are all work in progress products. Not finished products. And in some cases it makes sense, like siri, that needs users experience to improve. But in others it's just bad, sloppy decision making. I used to install these updates day one. Now after some trial an error, I've learned not to trust them and wait a few months. So really, this shouldn't be a surprise to you at this point.

Anyone else finding the emoji keyboard covers up the text entry areas in some apps? I have this issue in Facebook Messenger and instagram. Haven't seen it in iMessage yet.

To be honest, I am running iOS 11 on iPhone 5s and I am really happy. It's still as fast and to be fair, I haven't noticed any slow downs either. I was expecting it to run like iOS 9 on iPhone 4s. I am very happy with the new iOS. The control center is awesome and I no longer have to go to settings in order to turn mobile Internet off. Android has had this feature for awhile, however, don't forget I'm coming from Android and loving the iPhone even more. Even though my phone is quite old by now it still feels like a brand new phone.
Good job Apple!

I think Apple didn't do themselves a favor by "forcing" out a new major version of iOS and macOS EVERY YEAR in the fall together with the release of the new iPhone.
I'd rather have a stable system, get (security) updates, and then after let's say 2-3 years and after the developers have had enough time to put together a stable release with "all the new things", then release that.

Right now Apple even has to release features that they promised at WWDC in later updates because they couldn't finish it in time. I would even be fine with Microsoft's update policy: there's windows (10) and every now and then you'll get a bigger update with new features without the pressure of having to release the new major version.

I see that now since Apple introduces their new generation of iPhones with the new major iOS, it's hard to go back. People think they won't get "the newest thing" when it "only" ships with iOS 10.5 for example. But then on the other hand, it is accepted with iPads released in spring...

Maybe they are bad in Math.

The interface is not registering the input fast enough. In this case the + sign. So you are entering 1 + 23. Not nice, but it is not an incorrect calculation as some people seem to read out of this.
Did anyone test how prior iOS behaved on the calculator input speed?

Do me a favor. Since L.M.G.T.F.Y. is banned for being too snarky on MRF, would you Google something for me? Google "iOS10 problems" Does anything come up?

Hint - It's PAGES of articles complaining about iOS 10.0.0.

Yes, iOS 10.3.3 is great, but this happens every stinkin' year. (And issues get reported and rectified every stinkin' year.) How about we all calm down, take a deep breath, grab a beer, and enjoy our devices? If the issues bother you so much, join the beta program and report 'em.

I too am experiencing fit and finish glitches on my iPad Pro, but as stated this is the first release so I’m not sweating it. Overall both my iPad and iPhone are still very usable despite the minor annoyances.

As time progresses people have gotten more picky and complaints have increased. That’s what i’m seeing on various forums.

If iOS was truly as bad as “you guys” say it is, why isn’t there an exodus towards Android?

I see drama and hyperbole more than concrete error in iOS.

Yes I realize what it is and for some reason sometimes you have to be really patient to get the second operator to register. Yes prior iOS's have NEVER had this issue. As a scientist I constantly use the calculator. Thankfully there are many third party apps that can do calculations with more than one operator. Let's hope for a quick fix because the delay is ridiculous. But iOS 11.0.1 has really helped with the rest of my problems so I cannot complain too much.

Nobody is saying it is truly bad. There are a lot of bugs that should have been caught before iOS 11 released, but Apple fixed a good majority of them in iOS 11.0.1. Also, it is not easy to just 'switch to Android' as many people are deeply engrained in the Apple ecosystem, which even with the bugs is still the best ecosystem out there. Further, Android rarely supports updates to their older devices, so it is just a different experience. But to say people cannot complain about bugs when they are paying a premium running Apple devices is ludicrous. Thankfully Apple listens though and addresses those issues. I can say that if my battery life continued to be 2-4 hours after the iOS 11.0.1 update, I would have been very worried.

I would suggest those @ Mashable and Hackernoon write their own mobile operating system and compete with iOS if they feel they could do so much better...

This has to be the dumbest response to this criticism, especially considering its apple. This imaginary "Mashable os" wouldn't work/run on an iPhone, and the main reason many use iPhones is the integration with the rest of the ecosystem.

I also find it funny that many people here are saying that this is a criticism every year like that's an indication that it's not a problem rather than showing that the problem is getting worse.

I did not say or imply that people cannot complain. What I figure, however, is that if something is bothering you enough you would get rid of it instead of letting it make you miserable.

Also, how many of the complainants are filing bug reports?

Often enough people aren't saying that it's not a problem, more pointing out that it's not as extreme and hyperbolic as some making it out to be, and that a good part of it is simply reality of software and hardware development in the tech world.

A lot of these problems have been persistant for multiple iOS updates. Not every quirk and issue bothers me, but they should be trying to make the best os for everyone. One problem I know has been present since (at least) iOS 9 is the music app repeating the same songs over shuffle. One thing i do really like about iOS 11 is the ability to record your screen from the phone. I'm not sure if its been fixed becasue I stopped listenig to songs on shuffle (and just generally listened to less music becasue of it this past year). Hopefull this will make it easier for Apple to see and fix a variety of bugs.

Jesus christ... what the hell is Apple thinking? The typography looks like it's still in the neanderthal age. Everything is supersized and super bolded... what's the point of a bigger screen when you've upscaled everything and eliminated the screen real estate?

And worst yet, the music app is still unusable. My phone also feels like it's been in the oven all day and I can feel it dying with every little touch.

iOS 11 is trash.
