The only .x feature I see is the Message in the cloud feature. Everything else (e.g. Apple Pay Cash) will not be part of the beta released to the developer/public testers.

Latter feature will not be available until officially launches the services - probably with the final release of iOS 11.1.
Not so sure about that. Look in your feedback app. There is an option for Apple Pay Cash now.

I just about to go back to 10.3.3, but since 11.0.2 is coming out tomorrow, I'll wait. This is probably the first time that I am eager to get bug (11.0.x) releases.

Well, that says factually nothing. We (on the banking beta tree) had this option since the first beta of iOS 11. They are not allowed to ship an unfinished Apple Pay feature within a beta outside Apple resp. banks. Apple Pay was not - while iOS 8.1 was in beta - enabled.

Either they ship the upcoming beta with a disabled Apple Pay cash button or Apple may even ship it Apple Pay Cash with an 11.0.x update. The former may be the case.

OK well I didnt say for a fact it was. I was implying it was a possibility due to there being a feedback option for it. It makes no since to add an option in feedback (which is only for betas) for something they will not be testing or wanting feedback on. But I have no facts either way, just simple speculation based on what I saw.

No big deal. ;-)

I wanted to explain that there are legal issues why such restrictions exist. For example, while implementing Apple Pay for a customer we use a basic iOS/macOS/watchOS (only with Apple Pay functionality and card setup) in a sandbox environment. We can not use those devices in stores or using it for Apple Pay on the web/apps as those transactions are handled in a separate testing environment. The same is for Apple Pay Cash which is harder to test, as we now have to test the transaction Apple Pay Cash Card to the personal banking account. This is not quite trivial..

My presumption is that this will be rolled out to beta testers (if ever) only upon Apple's receipt of final approval from the banking regulators (FDIC, FedReserve, Comptroller of the Currency, etc.. in the US and your equivalents in Canada and elsewhere). The "beta" testing would probably only be usability as opposed to functionality, which would have already been approved, and, thus, locked in stone.

In the past, Apple Pay and its features(since iOS 8.1) has never been part of any betas. Only then implemented and publicly rolled out Apple Pay features were part of the next beta cycle.

The problem with Apple Pay Cash is, that you need to test inter bank transactions (from the Apple Pay Cash Card issuer to your bank account). These tests are not for public test (developer and beta testing).

I wonder if this will lead to different builds for Developer and Public betas?

Like I said a couple of times, participating banks receive different (smaller) builds only with the necessary features for Apple Pay. These builds are only available for banks (participating and implementing).

There are basically two different beta trees - developer/public beta and banking.

No, I understood you. But Apple has done a lot of things this year that they haven’t in the past. So, it’s not inconceivable that they could test this feature, assuming it has already passed the much more stringent financial institution tests and received full or qualified regulatory approval. Not likely, as you suggest, but not totally outside the realm of possibility.

Yeah we will all be beta testing it when it goes public. You know, like most of the rest of iOS these days :) Then it will be fixed just before iOS 12.0 b1 drops. (Maybe)

ok cool do we know what will be addressed in this build?
Most likely "bug fixes and performance improvements". Like is typically mentioned on the update screen. But more specifically I suspect the iP 8/8+ crackle sound will be the most prominent since Apple has stated a fix for that is forthcoming soon.

1pmEST like every time any other release has been in apple's history
Not quite every time, but generally the most common/usual time (in additon to 10 AM there's also 1 PM US Pacific that is less typical but not unusual, as well as various other times which have been more rare, but there nonetheless).
