What I don’t understand is why release an official build different than the final beta build ?
I mean if the build is different nobody (at least no beta testers) could try it before the release ?
Sometimes the final beta is the release version (build) and sometimes basically the same version without the beta code and build versioning "5" and the revision letter at the end. Yet sometimes its an entirely new build that only Apple and the carriers test.

Beta 5 is out. Tiny update.
And they said it wouldn't happen :)

He also said beta 4 was the final beta, so... Being so small, I'd agree with @C DM. Must be unplanned and last minute.
Things like this happening further clouds the question about the betas we get are outdated from what Apple actually has. It makes total since if there was a small issue in Fridays beta that needed an unplanned fix that was seen last minute, BUT if Apple is already "several builds ahead" then why release Fridays version without this last minute change then release another version the next business day? Food for thought!

It's usually a mix of things. Internally development is often ahead in one sense or another. And then at times some urgent change need to be made that then would be made both in development branches and perhaps betas that might be our and maybe even in production if the change is urgent and important enough.

You've got to stop making statements like this! :p
Why? Every time I make the statement something happens. :p But in all seriousness, we all know I was responding to him saying public release.

He didn’t get that beta 4 was coming last Friday night.
He didn’t say it wasn’t. If he doesn’t make a claim it doesn’t go against him.

But did he get it wrong? Yes he said Beta 4 was the last beta, but being he doesn't work for Apple, a last minute change over the weekend is definitely plausible. I would call it more of a hiccup then flat out wrong.
Yeah, beta 4 could have been the last planned beta basically.

EDIT: Beaten. :)

I’m sorry for asking what seems like a simple question, I’m not familiar with beta history.. but in theory is the intended final beta the build that’s released to public or is the public release always or sometimes an altered version?

As I stated, the enabled engine points on an .xml File which refers include a list of country code (e.g. DE, IT) with enabled Apple Pay countries. Our banking builds refer to another file for testing purposes.

That N26 rumor was deleted immediately. My private german watch wants me to add a credit card using the double click on the watch button below the digital crown now since pairing my watch with my iPhone 8 plus (3 weeks now). I have never had this dialogue that long. Some users are reportedly saw the Apple Pay dialogue within the wallet app.

We (as an upcoming financial partner resp. project responsible) are currently passenger on that Apple ship...

N26 launched today without Germany in France. :-(

For this particular version at least it will (would?) be different since the final will include Apple Pay cash.
But then again nobody knows how it will work , if it is a server side activation it could be very well be this beta 5 the version released for public...

Interesting and weird. If customers outside of France are unable to use Apple Pay, the bank might use some kind of credit card/customer address comparison. Or France customers also have french N26 credit cards. But I may think the first one.

There are still no n26 launches in Spain, Italy and Finnland.

So the Scandinavian payment were also active. Interesting.
