but its fixed in the 11.2.5 beta... unless they feel the need to fix it ASAP for everyone = 11.2.3.

It's quite possible depending on the severity of the bug, normally a quick public release (11.2.3) then its implemented in the following beta 11.2.5 beta 6. There might be one more beta possibly final build either next or the following week. Public release early next month following 11.3 beta.

Then again there are news confirming an upcoming software update to fix the chaiOS next week. it could be possible 11.2.3 or 11.2.5

I am betting on 11.2.5 next week as a final release. The urgency should be passed now as the site was taken down and removed from GitHub.

[Edit] Ah I see MR has now posted on this topic as well. Great timing :)

The chaiOS issue justifies a iOS 11.2.* without beta testing as you do not need external testing for such issues.

The reason why Apple decided to push a beta is to fix it for the public testers/developer tester, it was an annoying bug. Apple updates the betas first and the public releases after that. Why? Typically Apple focuses on finishing a beta cycle (logical reason why).

The public releases only get the main attention, if something security related is affected. Two questions are interesting though:

Does Apple release an extra patch for macOS within 10.13.2 or release a final 10.13.3 (does it include the chaiOS fix?) which isn‘t quite ready yet?

What about watchOS?

There are more pros for an iOS 11.2.3 release than for an iOS 11.2.5....

Did he? I’m pretty sure he said there was one coming because the beta his bank received last Friday had issues.

Yep, I said, we may not see a beta at the begin of the week. But I did not know that iOS had the chaiOS within iMessage.

Edit:

I just searched for a similar issue in 2015: A similiar bug was found in late May and Apple fixed in late June with 8.4. The fix was first included in beta 4. Additionally Apple released a workaround for it on their Support Website for the time being...

This new text bug "chaiOS" is more dangerous than the old one "effective power" because it locks up the device and can actually erase data. The old one only caused a respring.
