If there’s no difference in 11.2.5 compared to 11.2.2 then what’s the point of Apple releasing the update then other than to fix the iMessage freeze bug? Not to mention Apple had 7 betas leading up to the final version of 11.2.5 so what we’re all these beta tests for if there’s no difference compared to 11.2.2?
It’s called “under the hood” improvements. Cleaning up code. Setting up code for future updates. According to sunny, there is an Apple Pay update in here. The update really isn’t that big. These are for minor bug fixes and that’s it. Nothing major. X.x builds are for more system changes and performance.

Who said I was expecting a “major change”? I said I wanted optimization and stability improvement and that is why I’m looking forward to this update.

You said you wanted noticeable changes. That won’t happen in a X.x.x build.

I didn’t say I wanted noticeable changes so don’t put words in my mouth, you’re making it sound like I wanted “visual” changes and new features added. I said I want optimization and stability improvement because in my opinion 11.2.2 is not as stable as it should be. My brother also has an iPhone X and is running 11.2.2 and he doesn’t have a very seamless experience either due to the current version or iOS which IS buggy and not properly optimized.

I would just like the messages app fixed since me and many others have seen messages out of order ever since 11.2. Not a coincidence so clearly something got broken for some of us at the same time. Between that , the embarrassing calculator bug that took two months to fix, the weather widget not updating, stuttering animations on iPad Pro with pro-motion (ruins the whole point if animations are choppy), messages text box disappearing when in split screen on iPad randomly forcing a reboot of the app.....I’d be damn happy if Apple didn’t release one new feature for the next year and start testing the features they currently have properly.

How about in June we see.....iOS 11.5 preview.....no new features. Just making sure everything is damn near flawless. The problem is that so many bugs have become sporadic. Happens to some and not others. Moreso than any version of iOS to date. So it makes it insanely hard to tell apple how to “reproduce” the bug.

For example a buddy and I find so many stupid bugs all over iOS 11 all the time and send them to each other.

Is iOS growing out of control with so many random bugs? I can’t cant answer that. That’s what we pay Apple for. But they tried to remedy some of that with these massive amounts of public betas which seem to be doing nothing. If you think I’m full of it , the calculator bug was proven to have been submitted to Apple back in beta 2 of iOS 11 last summer. So the question begs to be asked.....seriously WTF is going on in Apple’s Software QC department?

As buggy as 11.2.5 may be, it’s got to be an improvement over the horrendous 11.2.2 release so at this point I’ll take whatever Apple gives me.

You said it’s got to be an improvement over 11.2.2. You are implying that you will see changes. Visual changes doesn’t mean aesthetic difference, but it means speed, reduce in lag or stutter. And I’m saying (madscotsman as well) that 11.2.5 doesn’t have that. What you want is not in 11.2.5.

I did not put words in your mouth, but you seem to be mischaracterizing what exactly I said.

Yeah and our buddy @dan9700, who has been pretty vocal on iOS 11 and the iPX says that 11.2.5 has been quite a bit better on his X as far as lag and stutter goes and so have a few others here. So certainly after 7 betas it should be some better as far as stability and optimization. Seems others are reporting better battery life as well, which could be simply due to removing the beta logging and code from the GM or due to better optimization or both.

Yeah, battery life from 11.2.2 to 11.2.5 on my 8Plus is almost identical.

Well in fairness, most iOS updates are that way for me including the betas. There have been a few here and there but for the most part not a lot of difference with battery life for me. Stability and smoothness is another subject tho. There have been definite improvements there over the course of the iOS 11 series of updates.
