i thought the new ipads would be shipping out later in the week and arrive early next week which makes me question the need for this to be out for new ipads only now.

I bought one and mine has already shipped with delivery tomorrow. When I ordered it the page said 29th march to 4th april.
Makes sense to push 11.3 now when the first bunch of iPads arrive tomorrow.

Just don’t act like you know everything when actually nobody here knows almost nothing because Apple can always surprise or change things.
I have never once claimed I know everything, and always eat my words when proven wrong. If anything, I claim that no one but Apple knows. Check my 12,000+ posts.

I find Mirollin's posts forceful and logical. He also admits when's he's wrong.
Thank you.

All of the new iPad review units that are in the reviewers hands were "shipped" with 11.3 installed on them, so I assume this is why it was released on it's own, and early.

if that is the final release then beta 6s the FINAL
Most likely. They could change things up a bit but most likely just removed the logging and beta code and sending it.

Latest iPad build is 15E216, Beta 6 is 15E5216a so same build with 5 and a dropped off?
Seems so. The '5' is a beta notifier that that particular build is not ready for shipping and the 'a' is just the revision of that particular build and it typically dropped from the release version. So once a build, for example 15E5216a, is ready to ship and they decide there are no other real changes they are planning to make, they turn off the beta logging code and it gets the 15E216 build# and it is released.

Perhaps 11.3 will be like 10.0, when 10.0.1 came out on the day we were expecting just 10.0? Apple could release 11.3.1 on the day they expect 11.3 to be released, incorporating some of the bug fixes that relate to security that have been noticed in recent days.

This, like everything else in this thread, is just speculation. Something about 11.3 was holding back a public release. Maybe device specific to iPhones or the A11?

Small chance of something dropping today. No reason for Apple to wait till after Easter since it’s already out for new iPad.
