Maybe they’ll release it for other devices later today. Maybe not. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe next week. It’s hard to predict apple’s behavior lately. Hoping for today. Been on 11.2.6 and curious to see how much faster 11.3 is on iPhone X

How is everyone so certain this was a pubic release for the new iPad? What proof exists of that. Maybe its the GM only available to developer profiles.

It's an official release for the new iPad as it has public direct download link to it.

There is nothing strange here. The new iPad needs IPSW files to allow iTunes to restore the new devices. The new iPad comes with iOS 11.3 preinstalled with build numbers (15E216 for WiFi and 15E218 for LTE). 15E216 or 15218 will be released to other devices later this week or next Monday depends on whether they find a bug.

Apple didn't release an iOS 11.3 OTA since the new iPad is already on iOS 11.3, just released the IPSW files to allow restoring. This is not beta.

The build number suggests that it is the exact same build number with the beta 6 except debugging/logging stuff disabled. There will be no GM. There were no GM builds for iOS 10.3 or iOS 9.3 either. Stop waiting for GM versions. The GM versions are released only for major releases iOS such as 10.0 or 11.0 except some special cases.

If that’s the case that beta 6 is GM, then iOS 11.3 will suck, since there are a gajillion remaining issues on the beta 6 thread. Ugh.

There is no GM for point releases. GM is for developers to say all new APIs are final and logging. However, there is not many new APIs introduced in point releases. So, there is no GM.
Si if I install beta 6 now there won't be any difference with official next week ?

I do not recommend it at this point. Beta 6 is a beta release and all logging/debugging stuff is enabled. There will be a lot of garbage files in your device. I think you should wait for the final release. However, if you don't mind logs, beta 6 is very smooth.

the reason why we are getting a 11.4. to fix issues that did not make the 11.3 schedule.

i find this odd they released this for the new ipads when nobody has one yet.

Why is it odd? They have to ship it with something loaded on it, and they chose that something to be 11.3.

How does anyone know the new iPads ship with 11.3? No one has one yet and there is nothing on the Dev portal to show that there is a specific version for that device.

This is interesting! I might say that if Apple RIGHT NOW has a final version of 11.3 for a specific device this means we might get the 11.3 for the rest of the devices very soon. From a logical perspective this could happen even today or tomorrow.

Point.Point releases do not have new SDK only major or point releases have. So, iOS 11.3 has a new SDK, but iOS 10.3.2 has not. As announced, ClassKit will need a new SDK, therefore Apple can't put in iOS 11.3.2 (which must have same iOS 11.3 SDK), it must be iOS 11.4.

Which doesn't answer why they haven't released 11.3 for other devices.
