Yep, checked it out and you're right.
DP 1 = June 13th
DP 2 = July 5th
PB 1 (DP 2) = July 7th
DP 3 = 18th July

it really threw us off last year when they did this. Lots of rampant speculation about how Apple was all screwed up. Then we were all "oh, yeah, makes sense you did it this way."

Nonetheless I find it odd people say things like "DP3 of a major new iOS release has never been released less than 4 weeks from DP1, since iOS 4" when we could also say a PB of a major new iOS release has never been in June. Yes, we know it will this year, because Apple told us- exactly! It's a 'rule' from previous years that they're 'breaking' - a trend from previous years that doesn't guide us this year. We're fortunate to know this one in advance. Other trends could be just as flimsy. :)

As I said, I'm not saying I know anything official, but that I was analyzing trends. Apple could surprise us all and deviate, I was just providing an educated guess.

And so was I, in the speculation thread.

Well, the reason why a PB hasn't been released in June in the past was because WWDC keynote was later in the month. Last year it was June 13th, 8 days later than this year. So that alone would have kept it from coming out in June. With iOS 9, the reason why it wasn't released in June was because it was the first PB for a X.0 version of iOS and again they specifically said "July".

I really hope they bring back "grouping notifications by app" and finally unlock dark mode!

I have been :/ I don't even understand why that change was made.
Although, I understand where you're coming from, I happen to want my notifications group in the order received. But it would be nice to be able to toggle between the two modes.

Wouldn't be surprised if beta 2 didn't come out till the last week of June. Apple said PB1 is coming "end of June" so why would they release b2 next week and then PB1 a week after

PB1 likely will not launch the same day as DP2. Generally there are 1-2 days of lag time between a DP and PB, especially with earlier betas, since they're generally less stable. I don't believe Apple tends to release software of any sort "later" in the week, meaning the latest we 'should' expect PB1 is 6/28 or 6/29. To me, this would suggest the latest we'll see DP2 is 6/26 or 6/27.

Again, just speculation based on past trends and Apple's plan to release a PB before end of June.

I am not sure that can make a DP 2 stable enough to use it as a PB 1. DP 1 is pretty rough around the edges. Its been requiring at least one reboot a day.

By Apple's own words DP2 will be PB1. Late June. There is no way they are releasing 3 DPs this month.

Well it thats the case they have a lot of work to do, because DP1 is the worst DP1 since probably iOS 7. They have a lot of work to do to make the next release stable enough to be a PB.

How are you able to determine that? I have almost zero issues on my iPad Air 2, and thats almost a 3 year old device? I have an occasional app crash or or glitch here and there, but I have yet to have a single springboard crash.

Just because some people on MacRumors don't think its stable doesn't mean its "the worst DP 1 since probably iOS 7". I strictly recall having 5x the amount of issues with iOS 8 and 9 over iOS 11.

[doublepost=1497649326][/doublepost]If you actually read what I said you would have caught that I am expressing my opinion. My expierence on my 7 plus and First gen iPad Pro 12.9 has not been very stable. Multiple video glitches, daily forced reboots, audio cutting out, and CarPlay freezing to name just a few issues off the top of my head. This would not be something suitable for a public beta and would “most probably” take substantial work to have it ready as a public beta at the next beta release. Again just my opinion.

Nothing you stated was in the context of an opinion. You did not say "I think that", "I feel that" or anything like that.

"Well it thats the case they have a lot of work to do, because DP1 is the worst DP1 since probably iOS 7. They have a lot of work to do to make the next release stable enough to be a PB."

Nothing there rings as an opinion. Those are all statements.

Also, experiences vary from user to user. You may have legitimate issues, while 95% of other users have none. That doesn’t make it the worst ever, necessarily. Finding out why YOU are having issues is why Apple runs these betas.

I don't think you meant to quote me for this response? I was quoting the other person who is saying it's the worst.

It'll either be this Tues the 20th or the 27th. Only time left before June to release a PB.

Originally I had thought PB would possibly be DP3 and first week of July missing just a few days but the 4th is the next Tues and a holiday.

For reference iOS10 PB 1 was released Wednesday 7/6/16, after DP2 on 7/5/16 (DP 1 was Monday 6/13/16).

So pushing everything back 1 week since WWDC was a week earlier this year on Monday 6/5 this year it would put PB around the 28th/29th which fits "by end of June"

I would say Tuesday 6/27 for DP2 and Wednesday 6/28 for PB1 based on iOS10 and sticking to what apple said about the PB. It gives them an extra week to get the big bugs from DP1.

That's how it was pre-iOS 10. The USER decided if the notifications would be "grouped" or "recent."
