It's done on purpose to see if any major issue pops up. Be thankful that the developer beta serves as a testing bed before you get the (same) build that's confirmed to work without bricking your device.

PB's usually roll out on the same day closing in on the release due to the builds getting more and more stable/GM-tier.

Next DP will probably have the PB at 1PM PDT. DP6/PB5 will probably both be 10AM releases.

We may start seeing 1 week Beta intervals with this Beta or with Beta 5. There seem to be less trends with Beta 4 and beyond.. sometimes Beta 4 lasted a week, sometimes Beta 5 lasted a month and a half. Sometimes there were 8 betas, sometimes there were 5.

Given a fairly major feature in iOS 11, iMessage on iCloud doesn’t even work for a lot of beta testers I can see them going to weekly cycles fairly soon, they won’t want to launch with that broken.

In iOS 10 beta, there were week or even less than week betas http://www.thinkybits.com/blog/iOS-versions/

Like I said, they are very rare for X.0 releases. Just because it happened in iOS 10 does not mean it will happen this time around. Its only ever happened in iOS 10. iOS 3/7 had 1 or 2 8-10 day betas, but thats it. X.0 release usually have longer gaps as they prepare the GM and start production on the devices. The GM must be loaded on those devices before they ship. So they need to allow 3-4 weeks for production.

Sure enough, I stand corrected. Looks like were waiting 'til tomorrow.
I wouldn’t rule today completely out though. We are all just using the past to try and predict what will happen, but Apple has been switching things up a bit lately. I am surprised they released the PB so early for both iOS and macOS as I felt they were certainly not ready for public testing given that a large number of public testers seem to use their primary device for testing. We’ll know in 40 minutes though.

It’ll be tomorrow. I just hope my devices quit freezing up after rotating the screen. I’ve had to turn on orientation lock last few days and just leave it on.
