Apple has started to add new content to the Today page in the App Store every day for the past couple days rather than every Thursday.

It’s time. Strap in. Media invites Monday. Possible beta 8 or nothing Monday. GM seed at the Keynote.

There is no point in seeding a GM candidate before the event. It will be too late to change anything.
What does that mean "To late to change anything"? Its not to late ever to change anything before a release version. Not following what you mean by this. Typically the GM is the release version unless something comes up last minute that warrants changing it prior to releasing to general pop. Have seen a GM build get a minor bump a few days after it was released as well. But even sometimes they simply just release a .0.1 on release day (iOS 10 as example).

I think, @Mlrollin91 means that for iOS 11.0 (not iOS 11.0.1) the code is pretty much frozen (no problems will be fixed). This means, if there are any huge issues by now, those are fixed with iOS 11.0.1. App Developer now have a version which could declared as ready for shipping. They can adjust their apps to iOS 11 (version bump, etc). Maybe they also extended the expiration date of the beta cycle. The last betas had been pretty small build bumps and their download size was also untypical (around 100MB) for big spec bump.

Addiotnally, new payment functions (Hello Apple cash) has not been enabled by now.

Sunny got it spot on. Anything submitted as bug reports in Beta 7 and potential Beta 8 will not be fixed in the GM. Its too late. Going forward, all bug reports will be addressed now in 11.0.1 or later. The GM is done, and the GM has been seeded to devices. Now we may see a 11.0.1 GM like with 10.0.1, but new iPhones will have iOS 11.0, like new iPhones last year had 10.0.

Hmm so if the GM is done then why would they push a beta 8 (potentially tomorrow) rather than just the GM they have that's done? Of course we don't know if or what we may get tomorrow but the consensus is a beta 8. So that would make no since to seed a beta 8 if there is a GM that is already done. And maybe it is and beta 7 is it until release but I am doubting that. I am expecting a beta 8 then a GM that is potentially the same as the general release. With the GM at a higher build # than beta 8. Again all assumptions and speculation :)

The main reason, that under the hood features (e.g. Apple Pay) are not finally ready and not included in the beta releases which are sent out to developers.

Even x.x.x get nowadays 7+ Betas. There features which cannot be tested outside.

Ha that's my point, if that isn't ready or other features, then there shouldn't be a GM already finished then correct?

Because they never push the GM during the beta phase? Its always at the event. This isn't different than any other year. Thats why X.0.1 usually comes out within a week of the public being released. For fixes that were reported late in the beta stage. Its not all assumptions and speculation. Its been this way for 10 years.

There are two beta trees - one for developers and one for banks (slim version of iOS). So banks receive that slim version usually fridays prior new betas. The version for developers comes the next Monday.

At that point Apple freezes the code for iOS there will be no further changes in the slim version as well.

So Apple already have a GM since last week. Changes we receive now, are applied to releases after iOS 11.0.

So from what people are saying the slow animation speed when shutting apps is like this in the final GM im sure this hasn't finnished beta testing?

Don't forget, technically there are no iOS11 compatible apps by now. The animations will be smother than now, once iOS 11 is a public release and the apps become more and more compatible with iOS 11.

Another reason might be the general configuration of the profile. Typically the final/ GM has code cleaned up (of not needed apps e.g. Feedback apps). I completely wipe my "public beta" devices, once a public final is available. Through updating the betas, a lot of old system files remain from former betas could make a device "less responsive" or causes stuttering animations.
