If you're planning on getting one of the new phones on Friday and are also planning on restoring a backup, don't update to 12.1 as there is currently no beta for those phones.

All you have to do to avoid this is to turn off iCloud backup before updating to the beta.

The "last backup" will still be on 12.0 and will restore just fine to your new iPhone.

You'll lose any changes you make between now and then, but most apps are cloud-based these days and you're probably not doing anything super-critical with a phone running a beta, right?

Hopefully they learned their lesson from last year and they’ll have an iPhone Xs update available on Friday before the deliveries arrive.

at least not yet, im sure they will when the device goes on sale on Friday.
Last year when the X was released there was no beta IPSW or OTA available until the next planned beta release, I think about 5 days later...

EDIT: even though it's macOS, same story for the 2018 MBP release. It was nearly a week until a Mojave beta was available for them.

I don't see an option anywhere in iOS 12 to enable or disable Messages in the Cloud.

Autofilling passwords is requiring Touch ID verification everrrry single time.

Are these two changes intended?

As for Autofill. It’s under Passcode settings.

Thanks, do you know which setting I should change to make it so I don't have to use Touch ID every time I want to autofill a website or app password? To clarify, I still want to use Touch ID and don't want to turn that off.

They released the iPhone X beta around 4pm the day of the release because they realized all the Devs could not restore their phones to the new device.

Why don't you ask your friends?

Does anyone else have really nice colors in app splashscreens?

I opened reddit the first time after installing and the orange circle was REALLY really orange, looked very nice. After the splashscreen is gone and the circle starts its opening animation you can see the „real“ color for a second, much brighter orange tone.

There was a point in ios 12 betas where apple decided to change its color calibration, you can see that with the stock ios 12 wallpaper really good. Look at the colors when you set up the wallpaper and how its ended on the homescreen, very washed out. I hope this will be changed I hate this washed out look. And no I dont have this whitepoint thing on.

The twitter app splashscreen is a good example too.

about from group FaceTime nothing is new or changed feels exactly the same whats the point of this .1

You saved me! I make this mistake every year!

Reportedly, a landscape support for Face ID is coming on the new iPads, based on findings in the iOS 12.1 source code. This might also suggest an October-November release for the new iPads.
