I thought there was going to be a separate app for those Siri shortcuts, but there isn't (as of yet)?
They've put it with the "Siri & Search" settings. It only starts to list shortcut options once you start doing stuff with your phone. There seems to be no way to create one manually, you just need to do whatever it is you want a shortcut to, and then hope it shows in the list. You then record your action phrase and it's set.

The facility to create one's own shortcuts from scratch must be part of the Shortcuts app which hasn't been released yet.

For example, I just looked at my daily cycling distance in the health app and now I have a shortcut which I can trigger with "Show cycling data" and it opens up the health app to the screen I was looking at. Nice.

Well, I say nice, but so far I've never used Siri! Let's see if this changes me.

Nice, way to NOT copy my entire post to try and prove your point. Just disregard if you cannot comprehend the point I was making. Its fine. BTW the entire post was:

"Wow, guessing the rumors that this was just a 'bug fix release for iOS11' were not exactly correct. Several new features and a TON of bugs in the initial beta listed. Before I get flamed, I know its beta, the point being if this was just a fix to iOS 11 chaos, then I would not expect such an extensive 'whats broken' list. So clearly this is a normal iOS release."
According to the WWDC keynote, this is primarily a bugfix and performance release. The first beta of a new OS release is expected to be somewhat buggy. Even normal small bugfix releases like 11.4.1 are a bit buggy for example.

A nice long list of problems with iOS 12 Developer Beta 1 doesn't indicate anything as it's fully expected.

It's a "normal" release like Snow Leopard was a normal release. Major OS release, some new features, but primarily focused on bug fixes and performance.

I can’t get over how smooth everything is! Also I just started to type this and noticed that the QuickType bar on top of the keyboard is different, it blends in more to the rest of the keyboard. Honestly I’m super impressed. Running near-perfect on my iPhone 7+

Unless I missed something, I think you'll still lose health and activity data unless you did an encrypted backup.
Health and Activity data (including achievements) does sync to iCloud sincd iOS 10 afaik. Make sure you have the toggle on in your iCloud settings.

I checked the support article for iCloud backups and the stuff we lose is:
- App data (if the app has no separate backup mechanism)
- Home configuration (no idea what this means considering my parents got access to my Home just fine and I barely use the app anyways)
- Call logs and visual voice mail stuff
There are a bunch more bulletpoints but they all were pretty minor (system settings etc).

ooo - from https://www.apple.com/ios/ios-12-preview/features/

"Security code AutoFill

SMS one-time passcodes will appear automatically as AutoFill suggestions, so you never have to worry about quickly memorizing them or typing them again."

That's going to be great! I hope MacOS gets that too.

Hmm ... just tested it and a message containing "mTAN for your new login:123456" didn't get picked up.

Anyone figure out how to group Shortcuts? I can create single event ones like opening MacRumors but haven’t figured out how to do more than one thing.

everythingapple pro uploaded a video and said on the X it feels exactly the same no speed improvements, can anyone with an X confirm that or is he wrong

iPhone 7’s running slick as can be. Might even start to enjoy using the phone again. Glad I decided to become a developer, lol

It does feel smoother but not any faster. I’ll DFU restore using iTunes when I get home to test it. I also noticed system takes up 15GB of storage too

Does beta 1 include the update to car play to be able to use Google maps? If so, how is it working?

This might be what I am most excited about out of the things announced today.

My iPhone 6 is super fast. I think they removed some of the transpirancy (sp) elements though. The font seems a lot more black in many areas like the word suggestions on the keyboard

The developers of any third party navigation apps will need to update their respective apps as well for CarPlay to work. It is a two way street.
