Hmm, I may have to give iOS 12 a chance on my iPad down the road. I am curious to see how the benchmarks work on an iPhone, especially with an A11 chip?

I was really critical on iOS 12 since it just felt like Snow Leopard for iOS.
Between the real/apparent speed increases, the inclusion of Siri Shortcuts and the enhancements to ARKit make this a fairly worthy revision. And who knows what capabilities a new phone may bring to iOS 12.

But at the end of the day, absent some truly groundbreaking technological leap forward, we do have to resign ourselves to the fact that the feature curve has to flatten out somewhat. Its just not realistic to expect multiple blockbuster new features every year from either iOS or Android.

I can it’s definitely not slower on my 6s. It’s probably faster and it sure seems smoother all around. So far, very impressed with 12

Oh yeah, definitely not slower. I was just saying that for me, on a 7+, I cannot detect obvious speed increases. It's not like it was slow on 10.4 anyway. I am super pleased with the consistent smoothness though.

I was expecting Apple to include something like split-screen apps on the iPhone + models for the last two or three iOS updates. To me, that would be a blockbuster feature. When I use it on Android, it does add versatility. However, it's not needed. Would be a nice addition though.

iOS 13 is probably the big edition anyways. I am right now exploring the Pixel software to see if I can commit to iOS or Android long term this fall. If iOS 12 does outstandingly well, then I may just go with Apple for the hardware polish that Google doesn't provide as much of.

My 7 was pretty fast on 11.4 and while on iOS 12 it's not slower but not noticibly faster by much. Overall except for a couple things it's pretty smooth . Hoping the next beta smooths it even more, that'd be fine. ;)

For the most part this is a very good first beta. I have tested them for many years now and the first beta of 10 and 11 were the worst.

I have noticed what others have posted and have no problem living with them. The one thing I did need to do was change my work exchange email from push to fetch, as push appears to not be working. We use AirWatch if it matters to anyone.

Is anybody using iOS 12 with a watch on WatchOS 4? My S3 battery is draining much faster than on iOS 11. I'm gonna try to unpair and pair it again and see how it goes.

I have a series 2 on watchOS 4 and it is acting normal. Sometimes a process will get hug, I would suggest shutting the watch down and restarting it to see if that helps before unpair/pairing.

I've already done the unpairing, so too late. Normally my watch had like 70% left at the end of the day and since updating to iOS 12, my watch had less than 40% remaining at the end of the day.

Even on a 7+ I wouldn't say I find it noticeably faster (it may well be, but it's not something I would be able to discern without a side by side). What it is smoother and more consistent in a very pleasing way that had been missing for a number of years. It's a very promising start indeed.

They should have claimed twice as smooth ! Not twice as fast ! Lol

Apparent bug: some Reminders notifications just randomly disappear from the Notification Center (but not others). Anyone else seen this?

Edit: I see now that it’s just showing one reminder at a time. Each time I swipe one away, the next one appears. Definitely a bug.

Post how that goes. My Series 0 (gen 1) is running out of juice by 4 or 5 pm daily now. If that continues, I’ll have to stop using it.

Just noticed that in the Files app, you can now swipe left and right when looking at the preview of a file to change files, instead of having to close the preview and select another file! THIS IS A BIG DEAL FOR ME, OKAY

I have a question. In iOS11, on the ipad, if i swipe up, i have quick access to my dock and summon a second app for split view etc....now with swipe up i always go to home screen
So there is no way to quick access my dock?

If I swipe up in iOS 12, I get the dock and the task switcher.

1. I have also noticed SMS to non-iphone not going thru while incoming msgs are fine.
2. while on Call, dial pad doesn't work. IVRS key in not recognized.
Have you checked to make sure the “send as SMS” option is enabled? My texts to non-iPhones deliver just fine.

Swipe up and hold your finger in the middle for like half a second and then let go.

Swipe up a little bit and hold to reveal the dock. Cumbersome indeed.

Mine ran out yesterday (S2)... overnight though I noticed it only charged to 75%. I restarted the watch and it jumped to 100%. It's been off charge 3+ hours and is still at 100%. Either I fixed it or it's stuck again!
