While listening to a podcast through my AirPods, I got a call through Google Voice. It went to the phone instead of the AirPods without giving me a choice, like it did on 11.4.

I have been scrolling through but couldn't find anything. Anyone having issues with the App Store? It keeps telling me there's no connection. It's happening on all of my devices running beta 2.

I have experienced that before in the past year on rental cars that have had CarPlay...not new....drove me nuts...

So this is controlled by the car, not Apple? I assumed CarPlay would be the same on every vehicle. I actually do have a Chevy Cruze rental car at the moment, but I feel like I noticed the change with beta 2. Maybe it was a coincidence.

My personal car has an Alpine iLX-107 that supports wireless CarPlay.

Is anyone else having issues when receiving a phone call and trying to reject the call via reply with text or call back reminder it’s takes you to the home screen and you can’t get back to the call but the phone is still ringing?

Yes, it’s noted in the first page of the wiki

I couldn’t say...but I rent cars nearly every week and I distinctly remember being really mad when having a car for a week and not being able to search beyond my recent playlists without opening my phone...was so weird seeing you mention it.

I don’t think so. The head unit does factor in how CarPlay functions overall (integration with the in vehicle sound system, for example, or in some cases, integration with vehicle environmental controls). However, I don’t think OEMs or head unit mfrs have any say over the UI/UX of CarPlay itself. Basing this on discussions with engineers at the large OEM I used to work for.

It could be a memory limitation in the head unit. That would explain the variation. Not something the OEMs control, per se, but may be OEM dependent.

Has anyone noticed the interface changes to CarPlay with Beta 2? It doesn't let you have visual access to your entire library anymore. It filters by recently listened then when you reach the end of that list, it has a button for Siri to help you listen to other music. It's incredibly frustrating for me because I need to visually see the playlist/artist/song/album for me to remember what's in my 5500 song library. I understand it improves safety by limiting the user's time looking at a screen, but I feel like I'm more apt to just pick up my iPhone and scroll through my music there due to this change.

As others have said, I don’t think this is new. I believe if you’re stationary you’ll get full lists but if you start to move it will simplify/reduced some things and tell you to use Siri.

Was getting duplicate notifications for waterminder on ios 12 and watchOS 5. I unpaired watch and re-installed iOS 12 beta 2 using the ipsw file, then repaired watch and my duplicate notifications have gone back to normal. (no duplicates).

Anyone getting duplicates may want to try this. Also this seemed to solve my gps issue.

Does beta 12 have the super slow WiFi issue like 11.4.1? I can’t handle it anymore. Thinking about switching my 7plus over. Thanks guys.

Carplay broken with Beta 2. iPhone X on Verizon, aftermarket Pioneer AVQ-1330 head unit. When plugged it Carplay does not start, and the phone buzzes 4 times in quick succession, shows the battery screen, shows the notifications screen, and then repeats.

Reported to Apple. Hope it is fixed in Beta 3.

Update, when I told settings to forget my car, and then plugged it back in, CarPlay started working again, except that I had the same problem with it shutting off when I put the car in reverse.

I had to go back to 11.4, because the Tunnel app hasn't been updated yet, and I wasn't getting any of my work emails. Hopefully the CarPlay reverse bug is fixed soon.

I get a brief pause in CarPlay when I put the car in reverse but it comes back almost immediately.

I have a Pioneer NEX (don't remember the model number anymore; maybe 9400?).

I have the same issues. Either when my front sensors detect something or when I put it in reverse and the camera comes on and the car switches over to the radar and camera it disconnects every time. I also have issues initiating a connection to the car, I have to plug it in and unplug it multiple times to get it to work. I have an iPhone X and drive an 17 S3.

Bluetooth status in Settings remains shown as active, even after disabling it under Settings>Bluetooth>*Bluetooth*.
