Out of nowhere phone automatically booted up and now is continuing the instalation of ios 12 GM. wow.

After loading the GM my podcast app stops playing and I have to manually restart it when I get a notification, anyone else?

I restored as new as always after an major update. So i guess that means it wont take more then an hour or so considering that i just installed like 3-4 apps and configured settings?
I’ve been using an iPhone since the original so I have a ton of photos. Before iCloud Photos generally mine took a week to pull them all down after a restore. It’s usually a lot quicker if you’re using all the off-device storage features of iOS.

However, I NEVER restore as new with a new release unless there is some sort of weird issue I can’t resolve with other methods. During my beta usage I’ve had just as many new restored get borked as updates. It really isn’t worth the extra time and effort anymore.

Thanks for the fast answers.

"CarPlay adds support for third-party navigation apps"

As has been stated multiple times in every bet thread, you need to wait and hope Google actually takes Apple up on the feature and updates their apps. Probably not until at least public availability of iOS 12. Today is not the public release. Its an update for just beta testers and devs.

Multiple times? How about ten gazillion times. Including entire threads.

There is less than 0% chance Google won't "take up" Apple on this. Apple did not just randomly decide to feature Google Maps and Waze at its WWDC Keynote and then hope Google would join the party. Google probably actually paid a pretty penny for this privilege as it keeps people on Google Maps. Trust me, Google Maps and Waze probably are already locked and loaded to be released as soon as Apple says its ok (and their developers probably already have had the GM of X Code for several days now).

My iPhone 7 has been rather slow and laggy when opening apps, share sheet, and just slow in general. I am going to upgrade to iOS 12 next Monday. I was concidering doing a clean install to speed up the phone. Is it necessary to reset it as new or would it be fine to restore from iCloud backup? I am doing this for speed.

Unable to read through the thread, but has anyone confirmed this fixes the activity app with last weeks national park challenge?

Try and update first. Upgrading cleans out a lot of cruft. You’ll most likely find iOS 12 to be more than adequate for your iPhone 7. It’s quick on my 6S Plus.

Waze has been testing CarPlay for select testers only and not for that long. I doubt it’s public ready yet.

I shall stand by my prediction.

Well the GM release of iOS12 seems to have fixed the missing badge numbers problem I had with the Messages app on iPad.

Does anyone get choppy music playback when launching the camera app on iPad?

Activity badges are still missing and buggy, it’s showing me as not having 200% of my move goal today despite the ring and calorie burn showing otherwise.

I put the GM seed of Watch OS 5 on my Watch and no difference.

Honestly shocked Apple is releasing a GM with a bugged activity app.

The fact it’s saying I need 0 more calories today shows it knows I’ve doubled it today.
