Actually app updates are not automatic, they have to be submitted by the developer, and then Apple reviews them.
Are all updates reviewed by hand?

You'd think once a developer becomes very trusted, they would automate the process. Maybe automatically approve updates if less than a certain percentage of the code changes.

It must be extremely labor intensive to review every single updated app! I don't even have a lot of apps installed and I see typically a few updates per day.

Good question. I’m not sure.
I just know Apple has emailed me about an update I’ll have submitted, about a very minor issue, asking me questions are telling me of a small change to make, etc

Can you please explain why 12.1.1 is needed for this to happen? Although it has been predicted for a while that 12.1.1 will come in December, eSIM is fully enabled with 12.1. An update is not required. There is merely a visual voicemail bug with 12.1, which hardly prevents eSIM from being used.

It’s obviously not just visual voicemail that is bugged if they are having issues with the 2nd line dropping down to 2G, not all carrier issues can be fixed with a carrier update.

Considering it’s a Verizon only issue, it does seem like something that needs to be addressed carrier side. Most iOS updates include carrier updates built in. I had to use GigSky with my eSIM because all the AT&T towers in my area were destroyed from the fire, I had zero issues with 4G/LTE.

Why next week and not this week?

Even though apple probably has it in their back pocket. It was a US holiday last week. Just seems odd to release 12.1.1 this week. Also, to stop at beta 3. I've always seen at least to beta 4/+. Then final release.

any chance this we will get an update today? My phone(7plus)is constantly hot and my battery life is horrible. Im really thinking of going back to 12.1. This has been the worst beta for me in a while.

I hope you had submitted the feedback about heating. I also find heating happening.
