I took the leap last night, so far so good.

This morning however, Siri stunned me. First on my phone, I had an entry in Maps Destinations for Parked Car.

Second, my iPad just popped up with a Siri Suggestion that I open YouTube to my Subscriptions tab... something I do every morning to watch Good Mythical Morning and Ola Englund.

Bravo, Apple.

This is when phones start really getting fun and useful. 13.4 has a lot of refinements I've noticed to little things (that I should note here, but usually notice when I'm out and about and forget to document them).

To be fair, I don't know if the Parked Car location was due to me just getting a vehicle with CarPlay (and the phone detecting it's been disconnected from the radio, obvious signalling that the vehicle has been parked), or 13.4.

Either way, I'm pretty stoked about it. I can't wait to use it at all the concerts we're planning on attending this year.

This really seems pretty good for me as well. Well, apart from the usual email issues. The only outstanding problem I’ve got is I cannot install the Alexa app. At first it started with a loop trying to update yesterday, so I deleted it. Now I just can’t install it at all. I don’t know if this is a fault with the Alexa app or this version of iOS. I will wait to see what happens with the next beta.

Edit: oh and dictation is noticeably slower and nowhere near as accurate.

Noticed dictation being stuttery but works okay for me. I think the Alexa app is a server side issue and not related to the beta. It has happened before with other apps and was resolved on its own.

1) Is smart zoom (double tap) in Safari completely restored like on iOS 12 and previous versions? Or the behavior is still inaccurate?

Double Tap to zoom in Safari is not working for me at all right now. Anyone else having this problem?

It's more of a Car Play feature than 13.4. I'm not sure if it worked prior to 13.3 but it definitely does on 13.3.1.

Anyone seen this behaviour, I went to instal an update for the Alexa app last night; it failed and now won’t install at despite numerous attempts to delete and restart.

Happens on the Beta and 13.3 release. Its a App Store issue with the package. Amazon will release a new one.

Try triple tap in Safari. Triple is working for me.

Not just a Car Play feature but bluetooth as well. I don't have Car Play and I get the parked car location when the phone disconnects from the car via bluetooth.

iPhone (11) and iPad (mini, fifth-gen) both continue to run well on the new beta; battery life and performance feel solid especially after backing up, after performing restarts as needed as well as after turning off Screen Time (which I had been using only to disable Siri functionality, but which I also had come to theorize was impacting performance and battery life more than just leaving Screen Time off along with all basic Siri functionality).

Yesterday I did experience some strange/frustrating connectivity issues with both wifi and cellular connections, but as of right now I’m happy to report that those appear to be resolved with time and good, old-fashioned restarts.

Ditto for me, starting yesterday. AT&T, and suddenly no internet while on LTE (didn't try wifi). Fixed with momentary Airplane mode/cellular off then back on/or a restart. Happened a couple of times yesterday, and twice today so far. Never experienced this before on any of the betas. Hmm.

Yep must be a problem with the Alexa app update, I can'tr get it to install either, will have to wait until they release a new update.

The constant showing of directions still showing on my phone when connecting to car play , like how this has not changed, you don’t gotta remind me I gotta turn every 20 seconds when I can just look at the screen on my car

I have to say things look pretty good on XR. Been using beta 1 on main device, tut, tut, and installation, battery life, speed all are good. Smoother and snappier than 3.3.1 to be honest. Mail works for what I need it to do without question, using an exchange and gmail. Connectivity to 5ghtz WiFi still an issue. “Not connected to the internet” is quite frequent after it’s been on my bedside all night. A simple WiFi on and off sorts the problem but there is definitely something still underlying about that as 2.4ghtz works perfectly.

Soooooo...swipe up and change it to something else. You don’t have to have Maps visible on your phone to use it on CarPlay.

Ideally, the phone's screen should turn off when CarPlay is active. Mine usually does. It may be a bug if the screen doesn’t time out.

Relatedly, I wish the Apple Watch would not provide directions when Maps is active on CarPlay. Even if you swap to something else, it comes back.

I have t noticed if mine goes off automatically, but long drive today, so I’ll try.

And you can configure the watch to NOT do that. I did as I agree, it was driving me nuts with it buzzing on my wrist the whole time.
