Except a bug isn’t guaranteed to be fixed, whereas a known issue (more than likely) is.

It’s a beta, they know about it, it will be sorted. Stop fretting the small stuff

Agreed. This is a total non-issue, as it’s apparently been addressed in the release notes. They’ll fix it eventually.

I, personally, have been on the iOS beta train for over a decade. I don’t read the release notes. That doesn’t make me a bad beta tester. I report tons of bugs when I encounter them.

My only regret is posting about a specific bug in this thread (yes, a random bug that happened to be mentioned in the release notes), and having everyone jump all over me for it.

A thousand apologies.

Speaking for myself, I wasn’t intending to “jump all over [you]” for this. You were just the lucky person who made a comment about poor performance in a beta thread.

As I said then, I get the frustration, but some of the issues I, at least, have is that there is a lot of complaining about the performance during betas. We all know there are issues. Moreover, Apple knows there are issues! They are betas. They exist to resolve issues!

In a beta thread, it might be better to just note the issue and not add commentary about (A) how Apple can’t do anything right anymore, (B) the software sucks (C) If Steve Jobs were alive, all would be right with the world, (D) etc....

In threads about released products, throw out (most) everything I just said about betas: released products are supposed to work and clearly iOS 13 has not lived up to that standard. By all means complain away on a release version thread!

Fair enough, and also a great point. I’ve often found myself telling others around here that “it’s a beta...this is par for the course.”

Although, in my defense, all I did was type “uhhh” before my post and that apparently came off as complaining to several people.

It’s a beta. I get it. Been on every single beta for something like 10+ years and understand the deal. That said, there are some instances where the seemingly simplest bugs that first showed up in iOS 13.0 Beta 1 are, despite hundreds of reports, still being carried over into iOS 13.4...that does become frustrating.

Ah well. It is what it is. #BetaLife

And again when it was working previous 13.3 beta they broke Importing MP4 videos from camera to files app once again seriously why do they keep breaking this. It should be simple

Isn’t it usually 2 days or so after developer beta?

I am commenting on this without concrete knowledge: there might be something in this beta that they chose to not release it to public within a day of releasing the developer beta. To answer your specific question, I think what you are saying is generally true, public betas follow within a day or two. There might have been exceptions, I have not kept track and, therefore, am not aware of it.

Except that the developer beta was released on a Wednesday, which is unusual. The public beta usually follows, as you say, within 2 days.

But Day 2 was a Friday. Apple typically doesn’t release betas on Fridays (because, presumably, if there are problems, they would have to call people in on a weekend, etc). This would be doubly (our triply) true for the first public beta of a major point release.

Expect it Monday or Tuesday.

Just saw your signature. Isn't it time to update? :D

You win the prize for noticing it! I thought about it a while back and figured I’d wait till someone commented.

Edit: ...and done!

Seriously, you were waiting for that subtle push? 😂 And yes, iOS 14 can't come soon enough. But I want fully-baked features more than presentation of ideas and half-baked implementations that they keep fixing/ pulling out/ re-implementing/ fixing again for the better part of the year and then it's time for another whole-number increment... It's getting borderline boring and frustrating.

Case in point (for hardware): AirPower. They should only have announced it when they were going to ship it in some days.

Case in point: Screen Recordings media-type in Photos that was announced as an iOS 13 feature in June 2019 but has come out only recently in 13.3 if I am not wrong. Could be 13.2. iCloud Folder Sharing was promised as an iOS 13 feature as well, if I am not mistaken?

They are just promising and then spend the year going back and forth and by the time they release something, it is that time of the year when people have given up. Instead, they could promise only when they will ship it in some days.

Coming back to iOS 13.4 beta 1, I find it to run fine except for for a persistent bug in Notification Centre wherein notifications from same app and other apps end up looking like a pile-up of cars in an accident. Second notification rams into the first one, and often times the first notification then rams into the Notification Centre title! This is one of the most prominent bugs I have personally faced in an iOS beta in a long time.

There‘s something wrong in Safari, some pages that can be perfectly opened using macOS 10.15.3 and iOS 13.3.1 cannot be opened due to ssl certificate errors on iOS 13.4 beta 1. Have reported this.

There are also issues with PDF Expert, some PDFs are rendered incorrectly while the same PDF is rendered perfectly on iOS 13.3.1.

I had to downgrade because of this issues, otherwise the beta was really usable.

Uhhh...

• open the Settings app

• scroll down to your list of third party apps

• tap any app to enter the settings section for that application

• then tap or swipe back to the previous Settings screen

This crashes the Settings app 95% of the time on my iPhone 11 Pro.
Yes, here also on iPhone 11 Pro Max.

God if I had a Dollar for every time someone asks that boring question....

Assuming there is a very well hidden point there, or are you here just to be pissy and get attention?

God if I had a Dollar for every time I block keyboard warriors from polluting my feed with inane bollocks.

My point is that (apart from the fact that I really can’t stand the bugreport police) it‘s totally his own decision to report a bug or not and I totally don’t get why some people think it‘s necessary to constantly nag in that regard. This thread is here to discuss bugs and not to discuss if bugs have been reported or not... so no, I‘m no more pissy than you are apparently.

Aahh right so this topic is only to be used as per your rules...thanks for confirming. Lesson learned.
