I actually liked the quick right-hand access to reply and delete - I find the delete icon on the far left very cumbersome.
You can do both of those by swiping from the right side though, so this does improve ergonomics overall for left handed users.

Control Centre now shows the battery status and cellular / WiFi connection on phones with home buttons. I’m pretty sure the X style phones have had this but this is the first time I’ve seen it on a home button phone. Maybe it’s a sign that the home button phones will get gesture control similar to how older iPads did?

Also, the whole launching control centre experience is much more fluid now. I like this, and I would appreciate gesture controls. While we are at it, I would like the dock to look like it does on X and above.

On the other hand, I have an eery feeling that folder animations were faster in 13.3.1.

Wow, thank you - I had never used that before while viewing an email. I use it frequently on the inbox view. Everyday you learn something new!

I noticed that too, and the folder doesn’t turn grey when you tap it. I’m assuming you’re talking about app folders on the home screen?

Yes, home screen folders. The opening and closing animations feel negatively tweaked as of now. Maybe after it settles down overnight..

Hopefully it does for you. Mine seem lightning fast and smooth on 11 Pro Max.

On the 8, they seem to have slowed down a bit. I think a couple of restarts, some hours of settling down should resolve this. Otherwise feels fine for the moment.

Is it me, or does long pressing on the Control Center shortcut icons have a slightly new visual appearance? Looks like they sort of flash-fade for a second before the long press menu pops up.

Doesn’t look like a bug, but just a visual change.

They’ve definitely done something to the Mail app - search is now lightning fast, even for Gmail. Message previews, even for emails from more than a decade ago are loading very quickly.

Emails in general are loading faster, with full content and trails.

Have tried replying to a few emails with large attachments and that seems to be fixed as well.

I usually don’t fall for placebos, so I think this could be the real deal!

Yeah. While it’s way too early to tell, initial reaction on my end is that they’ve somehow made the Mail app even *worse*

Also, something is different about the icon placement at the bottom of the Mail app. Trash has moved to the far left and it looks like maybe they added an icon? Can’t remember what it looked like prior to this...

Old way only had the trash icon and the reply icon. The reply icon had a multi-behavior where it let you choose to flag, mark unread, move folder, etc.

Mail search seems to be working better - it seems to have downloaded and indexed every email in my work inbox.
Maybe i'll look again. Just wish they would add a button to undo a delete, and for some reason the last time is checked, it wouldn't let me move the message back to the inbox from trash. And wish they would make swiping more customizable like Outlook.

in the Find My app, under the list of People, there is now a new button "Share My Location." Don't remember that being there before.

I don’t get why they don’t just make those pretty basic ones x.x.x releases. Back in the day a x.x would offer exciting new stuff. In fact I remember in the early iPod Touch days, you actually had to pay for those updates?

This used to happen with Mail in earlier iOS 13 betas, but was eventually fixed. Now it appears to be back:

When tapping an email notification to enter the Mail app, then tap the Trash icon delete said email, the app no longer brings you back to the proper mailbox. Instead, it sits on this gray screen:

modem firmware updated to 1.05.23 on iPhone 11 Pro Max. Carrier now 40.5.1 also.

Received an email (IMAP account on both my phone and laptop). I read it on the laptop and the new mail indicator has gone from Mail on my phone. That's correct. Opening the Mail app, it still has the blue dot next to it. Not correct. Gong back and viewing the list of mailboxes, none show as having unread mails. That's correct.

Playing around with an older email and everything works as expected.
(I clicked on an older email, marked it as unread, and the blue dot appeared next to it, the badge icon showed 1 and also one showing as unread against the inbox in the mailbox list. Opened that marked-unread mail and it marked it back as read and everything shows no unread emails.)

I fixed my dodgy blue-dot email by opening it, marking it as unread, closing it, and opening it again. This might be a one-off.

Edit: Hasn't happened again.
