Anyone having problems with swiping up to jump to the homescreen? I haven't been able to do this gesture since beta1. Sorry if this has been mentioned already.

I have not been able to swipe up to get back to 1st home screen since installing beta 2, I sat out beta 1. Have submitted feedback about the issue, legibility using dark mode, and mail just started not displaying the complete body of all my emails, and other issues.

Apple was right about this being for thrill seekers, I've been using each beta since iPhone OS 2 and have never had this many issues.

5CEFC5F5-44D2-470A-A0E4-C604ED378FC2.png Here’s a new one for me. This morning, out of the blue, the album art no longer matches up with the correct playlist.
Have tried hard restart no luck. Next up is a report to apple.

I strongly suggest not installing this beta 3. Not only Ethernet adapters stopped working, the Kindle when used in conjunction with the USB camera 3 adapter was not recognized at all in the Apple files app.

Once I reverted back to iOS 13 beta 2 it worked the moment I plugged. It looks like the lightning cable started having some issues with this beta 3. Mine is original and I use the iPad Pro 10.5.

For more info about the Kindle watch this video

Oddly when I plugged the lightning cable to my PC using Windows 10-64 bit, iTunes 12.6.5.3 didn’t recognize a few times, I had to remove the cable and then reinsert into the iPad and the PC USB. Somehow there’s an issue in terms of authorization, or some sort of internal flaw that is causing all this. With beta 2 everything is recognized and can be used the moment any cable or adapter is connected.

I was fully convinced the cable was damaged, or the lightning port became defective. No no no, it was all a bug from this beta 3. No issues at all with beta 2.

Weirdly for me the Apple SD card reader won’t work on my iPP 10.5, it’s not recognised when plugging in at all, but it works fine on my iPhone Xr.

Both are on beta 3.

In Homekit I have 9 utilities as favorites but in CC only six of them show up.

Anyone else?

When looking at my lock screen, no older notifications keeps being displayed despite no pending notifications. I don't recall this being the usual behaviour. Can someone confirm?

It is the first time they did that. Fortunately I didn’t face a lot of issues on my 8 and MBA 2017. There was one nag with Catalina beta 1 that was resolved by a helpful member.

What many tend to forget here is that Apple is using and dogfooding these betas way out in front of developer beta testers, perhaps by several weeks. So they already know many of the issues these builds are going to cause.

They were not trying to be be fun-killers when they cautioned users. They knew of what they spoke.

Exactly and if you report a bug, it may very well not get fixed till a few betas later. (With a week between builds and another for internal testing) that gives 2 weeks. And once weekly builds start happening your reported bug may take a few more betas before it’s fixed.

I don’t disagree about what you’re saying but I wonder why Apple distributes “old” testversions if they have newer ones in their shelves... but there’s probably a logical explanation for that (if that’s the case).

If you download latest iTunes, open it with 7-zip, you can selectively install certain packages to improve connectivity with your iOS device and your PC.
I am only using 12.6.5.3 because I don't want to lose the ability to backup apps in .IPA files. You know, the App Store feature that Apple removed from later versions. This feature is still available here:
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208079

And to my surprise this iTunes still works with latest iOS 13 versions, and this backup feature from purchased/downloaded apps still work. The way it works is that you download the IPA to your local library (in your hard drive) and then drag and drop the IPA icon into your device AGAIN, offline. So even if Apple removes an app from Apple Store you'll still be able to reinstall said app in your device, without any online verification. This is impossible if you keep updating iTunes or use any other version besides 12.6.5.3 from that link.

Something you couldn't plug in at all until a few weeks ago not working doesn't seem like a good reason not to test the latest beta. In fact it seems like a good reason to test the latest beta and file feedback.
I hate the fact you need to keep pressing 3 buttons at the same time and wait 5-10 minutes for a log that is never generated. And you never know if you pressed the buttons correctly. At least in the iPAD. They keep asking for a sysdiagnose that I was only able to create once in the past, and God knows how.

Anyway, another user said this:

Yea - beta 3 broke everything USB related for me; USB mice, USB hard drives/SD cards.

I wouldn’t be shocked if USB microphones broke too - seriously hope it is a bug and fixed with beta 4
I'll wait for a new beta or the final version before updating again.

Its because the publicly released betas are first and foremost to allow developers to have access to the new OS so they can test and update their own apps using the new APIs, etc... Secondarily, Apple uses the large number of installs on both developer and public devices as a supplement to its own probably quite extensive beta testing. The vast number of different device configurations and use-cases that the Developer/Public beta programs bring to bear likely validate Apple’s own testing and, in a significant number of cases, unearth issues Apple’s testing did not turn up.

But Apple is not going to subject the public - developer or otherwise - to raw, untested software that might completely disable their devices or permanently corrupt user data. So they test it internally first, make sure the rough edges are off and then they release to the public for additional stress testing.

In summary, Alpha builds have already been tested in an IDEAL environment. Then these betas are released which purpose is to test the app in a consumer’s environment.

Now... to a more important news. PDF doesn’t open in the Mail app now When I click a PDF, it opens the share sheet and the only work around is to save it in Files, then open it there.

I’ve noticed that searching in messages is worse for me than it was in beta 2. Doesn’t seem to find anything as far back as I could in beta 2.

This has been this way since iOS 12. So nothing new here.

Yes, I use iTunes for this purpose as well. I also want to manage ringtones using iTunes. The only sad part is iTunes can no longer restore backup that has multiple accounts logged in and apps bought from each account. iTunes will only restore the account data and apps that were bought with the iTunes Store account logged in during the backup. In other words, iTunes backup does not support app restore from multiple accounts anymore.

The reason I suggest you to open installer with 7-zip is that you can install device support package without installing latest iTunes. I updated my iTunes 12.6.5.3 on Mac using a mobiledevice.pkg from Xcode 11 beta, so I believe similar method works on iTunes for Windows as well.

To the people complaining about how bad this beta is, how many other betas have you tested? Other than the occasional expected glitch here and there, 13 really hasn't been that bad. I think back to anything 11 and earlier and this is a dream in comparison. A slight delay in scrolling vs a complete phone brick lol.

I'm able to open PDFs in Mail on both my iPhone XS and iPad Pro 9.7". It shouldn't matter but these are PDFs created with MS Word.

is it a known issues that some messaging apps wont get notification ? if the i close the app, i wont be receiving any notification but if i open it or let it run without multi tasking off it, it will show notification.

Anyone encountering this too?

Didn't see anyone else with this problem so new glitch: I toggled dark mode last night to see something without a black background and now this morning my folder icons are still dark but everything else is how it should be on light mode. Even when you tap the folders the pop up is grey and not black. Tried toggling dark mode multiple times and a restart. Not a big deal, curious if it will fix itself tomorrow after another auto dark mode cycle.

Had no problems with the 12 betas.

13 db2 was very good with minor glitches.
13 DB3 is getting worse as the hours progress. Can’t save/open email attachments, can’t save photo attachments and no way to do so is even presented much less works, in Dark Mode TV App.>Library>Downloaded file names do not show only the runtimes, when printing from say Safari browser there is no acknowledgement if printing is even taking place, in Music>Playlist the album art is scrambled so does not match the playlist it is attached to, for many all usb connections are no longer working...
Do I need to go on? Have you read any of the posts on the DB3?
Bricked devices are fairly rare, never personally seen one myself. But the daily, needed functionality seems to have taken a giant step backwards from db2.

Worse than DB2? Absolutely. A very unpolished product? Definitely. A *terrible* beta? Absolutely not. IMO.

It could also be that you are unlucky to have a corrupted system and/or a lot of (non compatible) apps working in the background causing conflicts.
I have the latest DB as well and it works well.
Maybe you should wait a couple of beta versions before using unfinished software. You don’t seem to be ready using early beta software.

I can’t wait for the public beta! Some of the things Fixed are issues I’ve had. But, thankfully, it’s almost been perfect for me. Just maps when using CarPlay lags sometimes when my phone isn’t locked. If I pick the phone up and look at it to unlock it, the arrow that is me catches up with where I really am. Kind of annoying when you don’t know where you’re going. Haha. But not detrimental. Hopefully it gets fixed soon! Already submitted the bug report!
