iPP is not ready for iOS 13 GM imo. It’s okay but it still has ridiculous bugs like apps being squashed to half the screen when you first open them. Amateur looking UI stuff. I thought for sure there would be a few more betas..
Well, my 11 has had few issues with 13b8. I have never seen and app squashed to half the screen when first being opened.

On 13.1b1 it is running even better.

YMMV

Plenty of folks have pointed out the warning of updating to 13.1 Beta 1 if you are getting a new phone, so I'm not going to repeat them on that front.

I wouldn't be surprised if Beta 8 ends up being the GM that's loaded onto the devices being produced currently overseas. I do think the iOS 13 release will be identical to iOS 10, where the prime time release was a X.X.1 the day the software came out to the public. This version was more polished. This gives the devs another 2-3 weeks to squash the remaining bugs.

I still can't understand this kind of move. Why would they release a version ahead while the first is still in beta. Anyone care to give a plausible explanation?

If Beta 8 is the final release, there are going to be so many angry consumers out there and most likely a backlash because Mail is still wonky and going from portrait to landscape produces odd results. That’s why I can’t imagine it being the final build.

I'd be shocked if it's the final, as Apple's internal build schedule is weeks ahead of what is even released to developer's. Additionally, at this point they have lots of feedback and bug reports they're working through to fix for 13.0.1, which we'll see almost immediately following iOS 13's public release.

It doesn’t matter. You don’t need the final version of 13.1. You have to install the BETA version and then you can restore the backup of the old phone. It’s easy.

Actually, it does matter. They have to release a beta version of iOS 13.1 for the new iPhones in order to install it. None of the current iOS 13.1 releases will work on the new phones when they’re released. So if you’ve installed iOS13.1b1 and you’re hoping to just restore from your current backup, you’re SOL.

I agree, but its hard to believe the dont have enough feedback/data to fix the issues. I see numerous bugs in Mail in the Feedback app that Ive reported still open with 10+ other users reporting the same (the max they state). So its not like people are not reporting the issues. They have been open since Beta 2 or 3 unresolved, and basic functionality that is still broken.

I do wonder if they will release beta 9 tomorrow since b8 is still up on the Dev portal?

It is possible. I do feel that iOS 13 is basically done if Apple moved forward with iOS 13.1.

When looking at the build number, it is basically a continuation of beta 8 because of the 17A. Normally, if this was a true point release, it should start with 17B. However, it is 249 builds ahead including features that was previously removed. Would iOS 13 be installed on the new iPhone? Highly likely.

iOS 13 Beta 8 - 17A5572a
iOS 13.1 Beta 1 - 17A5821e

As others have said, beta 8 is very likely the GM and there won't be anymore betas. That is probably what they are loading and shipping on the next iPhone right now.

That is also likely the reason it was not replaced on the developer portal by 13.1.

Could be but I hope not. B8 just doesn't seem like a GM quality build. Also curious that they haven't removed b8 from the dev portal.

iOS 13.0 developer beta 8 / public beta 7 is way better than the iOS 10 release version was. So I don't think Apple is that concerned about those remaining bugs, especially since they can update the OS in short order after 13.0 is released.

BTW, the fact that iOS 13 didn't get a public beta today is more evidence IMO that the beta 8 is the golden master (or else as close as it gets, without another beta release).

Apple won't want to release a public beta of 13.1 any time soon, because that would cause a lot of headache for a lot of non-devs, in terms of backups and data transfers to new iPhones coming out next month, which will be on 13.0.

BTW, if it weren't for some of my third party apps (not Apple apps), I'd upgrade my main iPhone to iOS 13 dev beta 8 / public beta 7 right now. In fact, my iPad is already on that version of iPadOS full time, and I won't be downgrading (nor will I be upgrading to 13.1 any time soon).

Presumably they would need dev beta 8 there for those who want to downgrade from 13.1 to 13.0 b8.

They will surely release it, in the worst scenario we have to wait 1 day like with iOS 11.

If they did release beta 9 today then how would that work as currently 13.1 is showing for update on the beta profile.

13.1 has a build number starting with 17A. The letter part denotes the point level of an iOS version. For iOs 12 it‘s, for example, 12 = 16A, 12.1 = 16B and so on.

Chances are this is 13.1, but they left the build number as a 13.0 build on purpose (maybe because 13.1 replaces the 13 GM for the general public or they don‘t want you to be blocked from getting off the train when 13 GM hits).

AFAIK the anti-backup-import block does not check the readable version you‘re on (e.g. 13.1 Beta 1), it checks the build number (you run 17A5...., so the eventual GM being released with 17A can still import your backup). Just my 2 cents, no guarantees it‘s like that though.

That being said, 13.0 betas are done though because you can‘t update to a lower build number (which a potential b9 would have).

Thanks for that. Makes sense.

This was not there a few days ago? It’s on the support page.
