Put me down as agreeing that 13.1 will release on iPhone release day. Only thing that makes sense out of .1 betas before release to me.

Put me down that a 13.1 Beta x will release at 1:00 PM on iPhone release day. The iPhone will come with 13.0 and there may be a 13.01 to update to. But Beta users will need to wait until after 1:00PM eastern time.

My phone never arrives until like 4 or 5 PM anyway, since I’m always on the end of the route, so that would work for me.

I’m still thinking 13.1 will release on that day, not as a beta but released.

But how as now the beats have gone to 13.1 it wouldn’t downgrade
it's still possible to work on both before the new iPhones release and then shortly after I think they'll release 13.1. I'm on 13.1 and I've noticed a huge battery increase on my iPhone 7 not sure what was done there but I love it.

13.1 won't be out until the second fall event in October, where Apple will cover everything they didn't cover at the September event (likely iPads, Macs, other accessories and services, etc.). Although it would be unlike anything Apple has done for the past few years, in the event we only have a September event and no separate October event, 13.1 still will not be out as a zero day update when iOS 13 launches on 9/18 or on the day the new iPhones are available on 9/20.

Beta 9 wouldn't shock me today lol

There will be no beta 9. There is one beta profile, and you can't have two upgrade paths (iOS 13 Beta 9 and iOS 13.1 Beta 1) co-exist for the same profile. The final build/GM of iOS 13 may be a different build than beta 8, but we won't have our hands on that until the day of the 9/10 event. Even then, the iOS 13 GM may require updating via a computer, as without a beta profile, the GM isn't accessible, and as laid out previously, we can't have a beta profile with two upgrade paths of software (iOS 13 GM and iOS 13.1 Beta 2/3).

Either way it will be interesting to see how it plays out.

So then will the GM have the same features as 13.1 Beta 1? what's the point of even focusing on 13 then?

No, the GM will not have the missing features from 13.0 Beta 1 that were re-added into 13.1 B1. 13 will be out as normal. I’m extremely doubtful 13.1 will be out when the new iPhones come out, but later on. I’m going with end of September at the earliest.

I think I'll hold off on the new iPhones until 13.1 is officially released. but time will tell.

We'll know if 13.1 will be Zero Day or not: if we get another 13.1 beta Tues/Weds next week, you can lock it in.

here’s hoping your right and we see 13.1 on launch day. Or at least a beta capable of loading on the new phone.

iOS X.1.X, X.2.X, etc. updates have beta cycles that usually last 6-8 weeks (if not longer). With the first beta seeded this week, there's no way we'll see the GM in 3 weeks on 9/20 when the new phones are released.

No. Apple has multiple versions and builds of iOS in development at any given time. iOS 13.0.0 has been in development for the last year or so, and wrapped up development sometime in August to be loaded onto new phones being produced now. iOS 13.1.0 started development probably at some point in July or August and has features newer to 13.0.0, and will be released after iOS 13 is released to the public on 9/18.

Hopefully, but not guaranteed. I would stay on 13.0. Plus, 13.1 is buggy per most forum feedback without any significant improvements, IMO. Not worth the new bugs and time window of potential compatibility issues with the new phones.

so your basing it on past cycles. I don’t know but it sure seems like this has been as atypical a beta cycle as I’ve ever seen.

I don't think it's been atypical at all. Initial betas ~2 weeks apart, later betas (after beta 4) ~1 week apart. The only curve ball was dropping iOS 13.1 Beta before GM.

If anything, their intervals of releasing the X.1.X betas has always been more consistent than other beta release trends.

Yes...but when there was no need to release a .1.

The fact that they did, weeks before launch, leads me to believe that 13.0 will be there on launch day and for new iPhones, but 13.1 will be released as little as 1 week later...or less! It has too many features that were promised.

I’m thinking it will be there on release day, just a hunch but I think so. Only thing that makes sense with a .1 coming out weeks before phone and .0 release. Just my opinion but at this point everyone’s post is just their opinion.

You mean like with iCloud Messages, which was delayed also a year?

You’re comparing one major feature with an update that includes dozen?

There’s typically been one feature that was delayed a month or more, but was typically removed during the beta process and not brought back in well after public release without being brought back in during the beta period like the 13.1 release.
