What specifically did you ask about?
I basically asked why peek and pop was removed, and said how people paid a premium for the XS over the XR with 3D Touch being one of the advertised features. Without peek and pop, 3D Touch is practically useless, the entire point of it is sensing different levels of pressure sensitivity.

If the 13 GM drops on 10th (so likely beta 8 or maybe a newer build who knows) , will we be able to get it since we need the beta profil in order to do it? I mean if the beta profil downloads 13.1 how to get the GM?

Bingo. You’re NOT going to get it.

If they intended to seed 13.1 to public on day 0 (a few days before the new iPhones launch) then they would have called it 13.0.1 as they have done in some previous years from what I recall. So 13.1 will most probably seed to the public at some date later. However, since build numbers matter and not the names there is a chance they will ship new iphones with some software based on DB 8 and create a build for iOS 13 or 13.0.1 which is based on a later build of 13.1 beta, meaning that as move on testing 13.1 they can create a build in which they might leave some features out for later release (13.1). In that case we will have no problem with back ups etc

Time will tell. Because they added several features not in latest 13.0 beta, naming conventions required the 13.1 designation IMO

I've been running 13.1 PB1 for a few days now. Impressive all round - noticeably faster, better battery life etc. Apart from the greyed out area of the Share Sheet it all seems to function more than adequately for daily use. Worth the upgrade.
I totally agree with you. There’s also a problem replaying to text messages directly. Clicking X does nothing, I have to swipe up. Other than that and what you mentioned it’s absolutely awesome!

I think there will be only one or two more beta versions then 13.1 will be the release version of iOS 13. I base that guess from the fact that beta testers (even PB testers) didn’t get to download any GM of 13.0. That version will only be released for new iPhones (preinstalled).

So what will they seed after the keynote according to you? And how to get it?
If you want the iOS 13 GM, after the keynote / availability, it's the same as any other beta - just delete the beta profile off of your device, reboot and the GM should show up as an update.

The question here is whether if would show up for those of us that are running 13.1 (if they give it a higher build number than the 13.1 beta, then it should).

No real precedence for this, we are all confused and guessing. Will 13.1 be released at phone release, will it be soon after, was beta 8 the GM, will there be a new release with a higher build number to update to as the GM, only Apple knows and as usual they aren’t talking.

I've resigned myself to upgrading as new, even if it is 13.1. After all the betas it seems like a clean install makes sense.
[doublepost=1567296693][/doublepost]How does beta 8 build number compare to 13.1 build number, anyone have both ?

13.1 is 249 builds ahead of 13.0 beta 8.

No it would still be 13.1 because that‘s how semantic versioning works. You don‘t just go and call 13.1 „13.0.1“ cause it is less confusing to the public, you adhere to the standards you set for yourself.

Whatever Apple are planning to do, they are now actively pushing iOS 13.1 beta onto all beta testers. I am still on iOS 13 PB7 with auto-updates disabled, yet my iPhone just downloaded iOS 13.1 beta and popped a red circle in settings, urging me to install it. I refused the install and deleted the download (638 Megs on iPhone 7) for now, but am interested to see what happens to the betas next week.

I honestly don’t understand why anyone would want to stay with an old beta. There’s obviously a reason why Apple is pushing 13.1 to 13.0 users. I think you got of the train too early and not intended by Apple.

I don’t remember how it worked the previous years
You will not get the GM without a beta profile and the same profile now gives you beta 13.1. Do you see the connection? There’s no 13.0 GM.

I can still install it, as I kept a beta profile. It’s just that the feedback from people who installed iOS 13.1 and compared it with iOS 13.0 latest beta was not so positive. Are you running iOS 13.1?

That’s expected behaviour. If you don’t want those beta downloads, then delete the beta profile.

Yes and it’s GREAT. Only a small glitch with share sheet and one when replying to text messages diectly. Very small glitches and will obviously be fixed soon. This is way smoother.

I disagree. The “expected behaviour” would be keep rolling out as many iOS 13.0 betas as necessary until the GM point. Then people who were running a beta could indeed opt to delete their beta profiles and from then on stay aligned to the general public releases (non-betas). At the same time people wanting to stay on betas could continue doing so.

Instead, right now we do not even know what Apple are going to release after their 10 Sep event. A GM based on the current iOS 13.0 DB8/PB7 or a GM based on iOS 13.1 (the latter is unlikely, considering the amount of time left).

So for now I am sitting on the fence with my PB7, waiting to see what happens over the next 10 days. If I can get a GM on 10 Sep without having to do some major tweakery to my existing setup - fantastic. If not - then I can remove my beta profile and wait another week for the official public release of iOS 13. I am also running the betas on my main devices, so need to be careful.

I don’t mind the share sheet, but what is it about the messages? You mean replying to them straight from the notifications screen, like sliding the banner and choosing “Peply”?

They could easily make the GM available on the profile by the build number simply being higher than the latest beta for 13.1. Seeing as 13.1 has kept a similar build number to the 13.0 betas. So it’s quite possible that anyone on 13.0 db8/pb7 to then go onto the GM.

We will see tho. But Apple doesn’t force people to be on the betas, or push too hard to go one the next beta. There’s a reason they say that it should not be installed on daily drivers.... Could easily just remove the beta profile and get 13.0 in a couple weeks.

If 13.1 is coming out around the 20th for when the new devices come out, we’ll only get 2-3 betas for 13.1, which I don’t see as a feasible outcome. Thus I don’t see it coming out until mid/late October, personally.

This particular point release can’t be compared to former point releases. The biggest difference is that it adds features already tested. Hence, it doesn’t need the test period that you imply.

The GM will be out on the 10th but you will need a beta profile to get it. Being that 13.1 is out, things are tricky. The GM will be OTA around the 18th or 19th.

you know they could just release a 13.1 beta on the 10th and the GM just prior to the phones release. Just a thought
