Appears most of the new iPhones are still coming from China, so that theory of them being shipped earlier to avoid possible tariffs didn't end up correct. Makes it even harder to understand the 13.1, 13.0 change. Assuming we will get next 13.1 beta today or tomorrow.

My TD Canada Trust bank app finally got updated last week to work. Didn't work prior to that with any of the 13 betas. Now it works with both 13.0 GM and 13.1 beta 3.

Not to beat a dead horse, but the split might have been in anticipation of needing to ship early. I'm sure Apple changed that plan to produce early (if it ever existed) as soon as they knew the phones would not be hit by the tariffs (this round). But they plan many weeks (or months) in advance, so it is possible they pre-planned the split (with what would be in each determined as beta testing - internally and externally - proceeded).

It would be interesting if the true story ever emerged. Maybe it is as simple as "Phil in Deployments" accidentally mislabeling 13.0 beta 9 as 13.1 on the deployment server! Oops! ;)

Even if they are shipped from China, they still need to be packaged up with some briefly stored before big launches like this. It’s not as if they can make a bazillion iPhones in 1 week for launch day.

A lot of those shipped phones are allocated for in store pickups. That's why the Apple Stores around me have still have launch day pickups for several models but shipping delivery estimates are in October.
