There are no GMs for point releases. They just continue being beta releases until they‘re pushed to stable (which, most of the time, is the last available beta build anyways).
But 13.1 isn’t a point release, it’s the first shipping version for iPad OS, so it could be different this year.

I still refuse to believe that Apple is going to screw over their public beta testers by not having a version they can upgrade to to restore their backups to their 11’s on Friday.

Are you new to this ride or what? Apple literally screws day one people up every single year. I can‘t remember the last phone release where they didn‘t **** the bed in some form with beta builds for the new phone. Rule of thumb is: don‘t get on a point release if you want to use an up-to-date backup on your launch day phone.

How we went through 5 years (!!!) of public beta trains and still get these „jesus apple will let me down... or wont they????“ posts grinds my gears ten times more than not having a build ready for the new phones in time.

Just so I have this straight, since this year has been a little bit of a whirlwind:

anyone currently running 13.1 Beta on their phones will have to wait until 9/30 if they want to jump off the Beta train correct? Because you won't be able to restore your phone from backup if you downgrade to 13.0

I’m thinking of upgrading my 11 when I receive it on Friday to the 13.1 beta, and then restore from current X on 13.1 backup.
That should be doable, right?

Assuming they release an iPhone 11 compatible version of iOS 13.1. That's the big question mark right now. I am almost certain they will, but one never knows for sure.

Not if they don't release a build of 13.1 for the 11 series phones, which so far they haven't.

Assuming a beta build for 13.1 is published for iPhone 11.

In the past they have published the beta builds for newly released iPhones later... during the next general beta releases.... so could be a week later, maybe more or less.

It is an unknown at the moment

While this is true for normal beta's, has Apple ever had a Public Beta in a situation like this? That brings a lot more people than just developers on a point release.

I know that they usually see point releases on or shortly after the keynote. I remember one instance where I had a point release on a phone while using a public beta profile, no idea which one though.
