It made my iPhone 11 much slower.View attachment 1769300

upgraded from 14.5 to 14.5.1 today.

I experienced evident delay in starting up podcast or music app freshly (close the app running in the background and start again). It was about near 5 sec of black screen while starting up podcast app (near 8-10 for music app).

also noted smaller playback volume for both apps, reckoned the volume on one side of earphone was merely audible. Need a few more trial to confirm this issues.

By the way, the tracking request prompt still not pop up after the 14.5.1 upgrade.

Sounds like you have setting off. Privacy tracking. Mine is set to off and therefore no apps can track me, or ask to, ever! Score!
Should the prompt be pop up right after the users reactivate the “allow to ask for tracking” (for those installed app), or only effective when app is newly installed?

Checked the cpu after I first boot up 14.5.1 and enter my passcode. After I lock and then unlock it speeds back up.

I am almost wondering if my multi core score means there is something else wrong with the phone. I checked it again today to see if my nightmode had anything to do with a slower CPU, but it’s staying around the same scores.

Now I have a lot of apps, but closed them all out. Not sure what else it would be. And to be honest, I have never checked it before, so it could have been this way all along.

I don’t see any issues though.

Why is multi score so important to you? Are you really doing tests all the time? Is your phone stuttering, lagging? Do you have problems in everyday usage?

Its funny because my 11 Pro was really “snappy” after installing this update. Nothing changed with the gb score.

iPhone 12 Pro Max acts weird after the 14.5.1 update from 14.5. It became laggy, like I type my passcode and nothing happens (after boot) and it stays on "No Service" for about a minute after bootup. Everything was fine on 14.5.

Updated my iPhone 7+ this morning OTA and it's fine. Seems a bit faster actually with email. I am in the process of updating my iPad Mini 5. It's a long update - or maybe everyone is hitting the update servers at the same time.

Yes I figured out the problem. After a reboot don’t enter your passcode until you see your phone connect to your provider. Wait a little bit otherwise it will be super laggy and slow until you lock your phone and then unlock again. It’s an annoying bug.

It's not important to me except I noticed that my phone had screen stuttering and lags after installing 14.5.1 that I did not have previously. After trying the Geekbench app, I was surprised that my phone did not have a multi-core score anywhere close to others. I was just trying to understand why that might be now that I know. I am far from someone who understands the tech behind that or what might cause it to be that way - but I do love to learn.

Battery life still nowhere near as good as 14.4, getting around 8h on my 12 pro max, will we ever get back the legendary 10h battery life?

My iPhone 11 Pro has been so laggy since the update... just thought it was in my head. But after reading these, I ran a Geekbench score... and lo and behold, my single core score was 750. This is annoying.

Are those who are experiencing the lag/clock throttling issue updating via OTA, or iTunes?

I'm curious if that is a factor?

For this update I did OTA.

Well, of course I have to reboot to see what happens. If anything, my 7+ was faster after the update.

Any chance the lag is indexing?

OK, I see what you guys are seeing. It looks like all of the programs were terminated and that they all have to start from scratch. Usually they don't do that after a reboot. I'm hoping that this is just re-indexing and that it will be back to normal in the morning.

Hello, could you tell what indexing they would do?

Yesterday, I upgraded my SE2 from 14.5 to 14.5.1. The phone then exhibited evident delays in starting up podcast app and music app (near 8 sec of black screen) freshly (close the background task and start again). Also experienced delays on and off while selecting photos in photo app or even typing text.

but the delays improved a lot after one night. The delays now only evident to start up podcast and music app RIGHT after reboot.

wonder if the delays was due to server side issue, or the other task like indexing as you mentioned.

Attached the short screen record.

Indexing is something that devices do after an upgrade to make search fast. It can take a day for the device to go through all of the files to build the index.

Google returns this:

After you upgrade there is some period of time that newer indexes get built. This tends to be for things like photos. If you have more photos it takes longer. Most other indexes get rebuilt during the first reboot into the new OS (things like email and contact databases reindexes).

I gave up attempting to update via OTA
hooked up the phone to my MBPro and started an update via Music
after a long while - on second attempt after getting a strange 'corrupted' alert - 14.5.1 is now installed

Just had a discussion with Apple Support person (gosh some of these folks are good at what they do 😆👍). After he did a screen share and we tried a ‘reset’ he has escalated the problem. It seems they have quite a few similar problems. It seems devices without a SIM card are not effected, therefore it’s mainly iPhones.

The Apple rep was not keen on doing the 14.5.1 upgrade via a connection to a Mac, better to get the OTA upgrade working.

My thoughts are there will be an iOS 14.5.2 to fix this problem.

Regards,
Peter

It does seem as though we’ve got to go a long way to get software that is as absolute crap as this garbage Apple is churning out lately!

Extra problems I’ve now got with this are location based events barely work, including reminders and washing hands. I’ve also got the problem, like others, of the phone being as dead as a Dodo when you first restart it. What the hell are they playing at?
