Slightly off topic but is anyone having issues with recognizing iOS devices on Big Sur? I wanted to see how different it is vs using iTunes. I couldn’t get my iPhone or iPad to show up. Wouldn’t even show up under System Information > USB on the MacBook.

I have the M1 Air. This is not a good thing if I were to ever need to backtrack to 14.4, which thankfully I never have… yet.

Couldn’t connect when on 14.4 and can’t connect with 14.5 beta 3 either.

Also, unlocking with Apple Watch when using a mask rarely works now.

I have not seen this myself. Will check with my nephew who also has an M1 Air to see if he can reproduce your issue.
Did you enable cellular sharing does your iPhone show up in the wifi menu on your Air?

Was browsing the internet while updating a few apps earlier today. Battery started heating up immensely. Noticed it mostly in the top right corner on the back of the phone. Strange, cuz this beta has been the best for battery life yet.

Kinda hate to say it, but I do have the odd problem with both release and beta builds, and will typically escalate my attempts at resolution of issues such as yours by first a restart, then a reset if still something of concern, followed almost always, issues or not with an iTunes synch and backup to disk as well as iCloud when issues are not present.
Haven't seen this issue on 14.3b1 or earlier. Perhaps looking at your battery power history will reveal something.

Can we stay on topic this isn’t a thread about why the 12 isn’t a good upgrade it’s about beta 3 changes etc
It is in a way seems more issues with iPhone 12 on 14.5 Beta than on the 10 model idk why everyone on 12 has a lot of issues.

What’s awesome for me is after beta 3 I got extra 2TB on top of my all ready 2TB I pay for called apple and sure enough I got 4TB and only paying fir 2TB with apple one account and they never seen this before.

I said better not charge me extra $10 or give me a bill fir $120 after a year. I had 3 techs call me back and they have no idea how to downgrade me to 2TB

thanks apple for extra 2TB iCloud for free this is awesome 👏

Still gives me an option to upgrade to 4TB and pay for lol nope. Not changing a damn thing. Let’s see if it ever fixes and goes back to 2TB lol

I've been seeing that for the at least the last two betas. Especially with the 2.5 lens, I will get the occasional photo that doesn't focus properly - blurred - even if using a tripod. Seeing it even in ProRaw format.
I have not been seeing it when > 5x zoom and a tripod.

Suspect it is software.
12 ProMax.
Okay...then I am a little more relaxed, thought it was only me 🤦🏻‍♂️
I also see it a lot happening in night mode shots.
Let's see if final release don't have this problem I hope ..🤦🏻‍♂️

Anyone having issues with the camera focus when taking photos? In some cases it's seems like it doesn't focus totally, and the photos seems worse quality ... Maybe just me but don't know

iPhone 12 pro Max here
I didn’t know if it was placebo or not, but I feel the same about the camera performance on the 12PM, struggling when focusing or using flash, that post processing seems to make the photos worse.
YouTube 60fps videos suttter/frame drop still not fixed.
Just updated to Beta 3, feels quite snappy, will keep posted with battery life. Although the betas (2 and 3 for me) are much smoother and faster than 14.4, the battery is not as great.
ios14 has been such a faliure, it slowed down all my older devices and the 12pm behaves as a 2 years old phone.. really hope they’ll eventually sort out this software.. this used to be the iPhone’s main advantage over android phones…

Yeah I noticed too but for some reason I can only control my tv volume through the actual app and not through the control center
In control center, if you "tap to connect" it'll open music and show the TV playing, and from there you can open airplay menu and individually change the volume. In CC, the speakers show up but no volume sliders... def a bug (i hope)

Yeah, for sure it's a bug then... Hope they fix it
The quality of fotos are very worse, you notice that especially if you zoom in the foto ..🤦🏻‍♂️

I attempted some low-light shots of the pets last night and they turned out looking like watercolors. This is definitely new to beta 3.

im hoping its a bug, its just tedious to do all those extra steps, but you can change right within the app with no problems

…….

Also, unlocking with Apple Watch when using a mask rarely works now.

I just tried to use this whilst at the supermarket and it did not work for me once in all the times I tried it. Same face mask as with the earlier betas when it worked “most” of the time.

something seems to have changed in B3.

was an absolute pain reviewing my shopping list in reminders…. Strange how quickly I got used to the feature.

Face ID is clearly worse, takes a lot to recognise my face… it just seems to get worse
Any tutorial on how to revert to beta 2? 14.4 I heard it’s not signed anymore
