Very odd glitch and simply just not possible.

Thanks, PhillyGuy! I especially liked the fact that it says I've got 17.34PB of Health data right below where it cites to my 64G of total storage

my iPhone Max Pro has been off the charger for 3 hours...I used it for 30 min and the phone died on me.

I went from charging JUST at night around 10pm to now charging by 3PM. This is ridiculous.
.
Yeah, my battery life got so bad it’s almost making my phone unusable. And my phone is getting HOT. No change in usage or settings, just the update.

I have to say, I had the health app issue where it was taking upbpetabyes of storage. It wouldn’t even open the app or sync my workouts with the fitness app. It was also causing lots of battery drain.
this morning I restored my phone, set it up as new, reinstalled my apps and holy smokes the battery is draining MUCH less than and I don’t see the battery level dropping as much!

Yeah my 7 was on the charger all night and I woke up to a hot phone and then immediately went back to 13.7. Not normal at all I’ve never had that happen in all my years of updates.

assuming you bought the iphone se March 31, 2016 (when it released) through September 12, 2018 (when it was discontinued) you'd at a minimum have over 2 years of use on the battery. They are rated for 500 charge cycles and given you are charging once a day (probably more now) you've exhausted/consumed the battery, and the 93% battery full charge capacity shown by iOS is not accurate. Get a new battery for $49 and kindly step down from your soap box.

"soap box"? get off your need to offend. We all see merit in different things. There's no reason to put anyone down... (or try to at least)

You assume too much... I didn't use my iPhone SE in a year, had it in it's box. A reset did the trick. Maybe some background things had to happen.

aww.... it was the "fanbois" bit I bet huh? hahaha 🤣

edit: oh and btw, my issue with replacing the battery is being without a phone all those days I have to send it in (granted I have no idea how many, and how many with the pandemic... but even 2 or 1 is too much...) So I'd rather make it last as long as possible... and I've been doing a good job, generally

For anyone running into battery issues, I reset all settings and it seems to have drastically improved my battery life on iOS 14.2 beta 1. My 11 Pro has been off charger for 15 hours with 2 hours of screen on, 45 minutes background and I'm at 87% battery. This is even better than what I had on iOS 13.6. With 2 hours of screen on usage, iOS 14.0 dropped to 66% and iOS 14.2 dropped to 75%.

1. Sign out of iCloud
2. Wait a few minutes, then restart your phone.
3. Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
4. Sign back in to iCloud.

Keep in mind: resetting will keep your data, but you'll have to redo a few things such as Touch/Face ID, notification & location preferences, and Apple Pay.

It's only been 1 day since I reset all settings, but it seems promising so far.

My wife and I are on vacation. We both had our iPhone 11 pros in the same bag all day at the pool and didn’t touch them. At night mine with iOS 14 was at 18% and hers with iOS 13 was at 76%.
Thanks for the feedback. I’ll stick with 13.7 on my devices until this is all sorted out. I wasn’t even thinking of going to 14 until they went through the minor Updates that they do after the major release.

My battery needs to be replaced but what Apple charges is outrageous.
How long have you been using the phone with the original battery? Divide those number of months with the cost of a battery replacement. How much is it? Also keep in mind that the phone has to be opened with all the delicate parts and ribbons inside. And then water resistance is reapplied. if They make a mistake or break something they will give you a brand new phone. It’s not outrageous. You just haven’t put any thought into it

Well my battery seems to be better today, but I have been using it much less and will leave it until the end of the week until I get a feel (yea very scientific) as to what is going on.

And so... you were entirely wrong. Sorry to say. But thanks for trying to help out, even if it was in anger and hatred. :) Don't worry, you're not the first type of person like this I've ran into in these forums.

My phone is at 51% right now. It’s been off the charger for 2 hours and I’ve used it for 45 min.

probably not helpful and just one data point, but i thought i'd chime in. after reading all of these widely vary anecodotes, i was a little anxious about upgrading to 14.0, but decided to trying it out thinking if i did it fast enough and had problems, i could revert back to 13.7 if it was miserable battery life before Apple stopped signing 13.7

well, for my 11 Pro, so far, there has not noticeable change in performance. and most interestingly, i didn't notice any real indexing or major battery hit after the upgrade. i have my 256gb 11 Pro about 160gb full, so this was a bit surprising.

after upgrading yesterday, i went to bed with it at 88% and it dropped to 83% after sitting on my counter for 9 hours. that was similar to what i experienced in ios13.

so far today, with normal use, i have seen what is roughly comparable drain using the phone normally. i'm now down to 69% after about an hour of screen time this morning including reconfiguring my home screen and playing with widgets.

i continue to find that battery issues or lack of them after updates are hit and miss for people. i myself have had the bad experiences people have shared here in other iOS updates. it's maddening how inconsistent these are and how some of them aren't even solvable with a new phone set up. i wish those with troubles the best of luck with their issues.

Aside: i got this 11 pro in march with 13.3. i would say that and 13.3.1 gave me the best battery life. i have had a noticeable by tolerable decrease in battery longevity in moving up to 13.7 (and the steps along the way)...not a earth shattering drop, but i would guess at least a 10-20% drop in endurance in the span of those updates. for me, 14.0 seems comparable to 13.7 but that's of course with less than 24 hours of experience with 14.0 so take that with a grain of salt.

Glad it’s not just me experiencing this. Would take my pro max off charge at 06:45 on day 1 and not need to charge it until around 22:00 on day 2.

Now it struggles to get to 21:00 on day 1. Usage is the same as before.

Battery at 81%...just took my phone out after it has been idle for 2 hours and it is at 56%. WTF IS THIS?

Same here, iPhone 7 plus and the battery drains really fast!20 to 30% per hour and even without using it that much, just on twitter. If i play a game and listen to music while playing or twitter and music it goes down 1% per minute! At night it goes down around 15 to 20%!Its just crazy!

I see that other folks are having this issue. Given the way the Health app was a battery culprit, I suspect this is related to the iOS14 update glitch. However, I am probably going to go this route if Apple doesn't release a fix soon.

Thank you!!

Indeed, the other alternative is to simply wait for the rumored iOS 14.2 update, and do that process using the Finder/iTunes. That will ensure that you use the full IPSW installation file. I expect that 14.2 will drop around the same time that Apple makes the iPhone announcement, if a bug patch doesn't get released sooner. iOS 14.0's release schedule was driven by the iPad Air and Apple Watch announcements. That, coupled with the final beta iOS 14.0 not coming out until the day before the release version of iOS 14.0, I fully expected that this release might be somewhat rocky. Still, from what I've read, it also seems that iOS 14.0 is less buggy than iOS 13.0.

I'm hoping for a more stable version of iOS 14 to come out soon, because I'm having issues with cellular reception with iOS 13.7. For whatever reason, in some areas my data speed is less than 0.1 Mbps even if the indicator shows 2 or even 4 bars of LTE signal.

looks like ton of background activity for music. are you playing music all of those hours? have you tried force quitting the Music app and/or rebooting the phone. looks like a runaway background process for that and potentially the other apps (if you flip between percentage and usage, you can see how many minutes/hours the apps are running in the background)

HORRIBLE!

I got this SE2 45 days ago. After the iOS14, the battery health drop to 99%... I mean, I put the charger at 20% when it's needed (passing days if not necessary)... jut two time has go beyond 15% in a call.

But here I share a photos how worst its going on.
The Saturday under 13.7 gives me with 80% of usage 6:15hrs (even I got a day with 7hrs)... then I installed the iOS14 in the early morning of Wednesday (download in the night) and I start to get this horrible numbers.

Look a Thursday: 80% of battery usage and 3h18, then yesterday 5hrs14 with less of 80% (I put the charger at 25%)... so common... how it's possible my battery health drop to 99% in 45 days taking care of it, and using th phone always between 20-25%.

I would love to come back to 13.7...

Well, I resolve this easy. Downgrade.
I contacted Apple Support, and they ran a test and all that. Expend near 3hrs with all that and the only suggestion I got, was restore with Finder. They told me my phone has 30 cycles (in 45 days) and that's "ok" for a 1% less of battery health... that's the raw version, because they were very polite: oh, you got 30 cycles, all it's okey...

But I downloaded the 13.7 and 14 just in case, and then the Sunday night I disconnect the phone at 91% and go to bed.
When I woke up, the phone was a 50%, thing I didn't understood since I closed all apps to see what's going to happen. I needed to plug more or less at 10am... useless.

So I return to 13.7 and it's better... since it's indexing and all that. I will wait until 14.3... Hahaha, for real... so horrible... the SE2 has a small battery and this was very surprising.

I am a long term Apple user and until now I’d never experienced battery problems with iOS updates beyond the first 24/48 hours of use.
My phone (SE1) and, to a lesser extent, my watch (S4) are discharging much faster than ever before.

iOS14 and WatchOS7 are great updates, but I would recommend waiting for a dot release before taking the plunge, if you haven’t yet.
