Found a strange mail/battery bug last night.

I don’t use stock Mail app, but have it installed with my accounts signed in.

Was on the battery status page in settings and over the last 24 hours, Mail had been in use in the background for nearly 18 hours, using up 37% of my battery.

Over the last 10 days, it’s been in the background for 42 hours and still used 10% of my battery.

Anyone else seeing this?

I'm the same with you, with mail and in last 10 days it was on screen for 1 minute, and usage doesn't register (below 1%), and that would be when I went into it on B1 to look to see if any changes.

Okay cool. So it’s def an issue.

Gonna file feedback and just delete it for now.

Say more about your experience? Its snappy? Feels like new? What are you noticing?

can’t speak for him but I also have an iPad Air 2 and an iPad Pro 10.5 and I can tell you that the iPad Air 2 is somewhat sluggish when it comes to bringing up the keyboard. Like I click on the address bar in safari for example and it takes a little for the keyboard to appear, and since I am used to the iPad Pro, I start typing immediately and the iPad Air needs a short moment to catch up before the letters I just typed appear. also when I open up apps, it freezes for a split second before I can interact. I guess it could be the ram lacking behind. Overall it works good for such an old device though!

Had a couple reboots a day on B1 and now just had my first reboot on B2. Doesn't seem like the issue was fixed for me since the unknown crash in Xcode points to the same issues. Already reported back to Apple on B1.
I had my first reboot today - didn’t have one on B1 and 24 hours into B2 had one!

i had couple of reboots while using messenger

So..... for me B1 and B2 had been working perfectly... until today!

This morning I attempted to stream TV on my Sky Go app, this being the first time I’d opened the app on iOS 14. It immediately crashed.... no big deal. However now various 3rd party apps that minutes prior to opening Sky Go that had been working perfectly are also now instantly crashing.

I’ve tried rebooting phone several times and have reset network settings but still no fix.

Anyone else experienced this or got any fix suggestions?

I’ve been stock and doing the betas since iOS 9 so having jailbreak again there was no way I was giving up that for this beta.

I’ll just wait now till iOS 14 is jailbroken.

You’re definitely not missing anything. In fact you’d be giving up much more without being able to jailbreak.

Crap! Spotify just updated. Now the app is crashing right away

edit: apparently it’s a widespread issue of apps with Facebook login

Don't think it's an IOS 14 beta issue. Seems lots of apps that use Facebook for login authentication are crashing, regardless of the iOS version. That makes it look like a Facebook problem.

Hopefully this will teach app developers that relying on some third party, that might not even be used, to be up and running before your app can even launch is stupid.

Battery drain on iPad Pro 10.5. Went to bed with 95% battery and woke up to 78%.

Sky Go has the Jailbreak Detection issue, as saw it mentioned before, In the Beta 1 thread and the Broken/Buggy apps thread

Sky go doesn’t use Facebook for logging in.

Yep must have been linked to Facebook.... apps are now working again! Other than Sky GO which I know are always slow to get going on betas.

I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere but Exchange email isn't currently working in beta 2 (was working in beta 1) for me. It's possible Apple changed something here but the problem seems to be on the email side, asking for admin approval to allow "Apple Internet Accounts" to access resources in my organization. I don't have anything nice to say about the people managing our email (previously we ran our own servers, now we don't; it's been a *lovely* transition and loss of features) so I wouldn't put it past them that a config change happened in the past 14 days and the new login request was denied but just a heads up for people using similarly poorly managed corporate / education exchange email on O365.
It sounds like they added Azure Identity Protection. Also, for you that are having exchange mail issues, download the Outlook app and try it there. It does a much better job with exchange mail than the stock app.

I’m REALLY impressed with ipad os 14 on the iPad Air 2. This is crazy. I’ve never thought this 2014 device would achieve such a long and productive life.

Air 2 was a fantastic device, really strong performance. I sold it only because of one reason - I realised I was using it 90% of the time for watching movies and shows, and the speakers on the side just did not cut it. I sold it off. If I was using it any less for watching movies and such, I'd have kept it and it'd be still going strong. The display and performance was really good.

You think it’s ok to test out on a daily driver? I did that last year with 13 and had no issues...at least on my iPhone.
Well I am only doing iPadOS for the beta test. My iPhone 11 max pro is too crucial to have important things like bank apps and the like not work. For iPados so far after 24 hours no crashes with all my apps i use on iPad (less apps than iPhone) seems smooth. Wanted to test scribbles especially on my iPad Pro Gen 3 and I like it. Wish they would have added the ability to work with application organization like the iPhone. Love the new translation feature of 14 on safari no need to use Google Chrome any longer when I hit a non English site. Played with the new caption feature of photos but sorta flaky/weird you have to edit the photo first says it is not editable without new copy. I have a large collection of images on Mac with metadata in the description (same as the new Caption field) but first and foremost its only gonna move from one to other if I use iCloud storage and my photos to large and I do not use more than free 5 GB for a few things so I guess wont use that feature. So overall smooth and except for new features I see little problems or issues for my day to day iPad use but suppose that is because my number of go to apps is small and I use less apps than iPhone.

Wow I’m surprised Apple would release a public beta if so many things are broken. Aren’t public betas supposed to be stable for the most part?

My biggest problem with both beta 1 and beta 2 have mostly to do with applications that are not fully compliant with programing standards.

For example, there are things that you can do with staples like YouMail and USA Today that will cause a hard crash.

I ended up installing it after making an encrypted backup. So far I have had no issues. All the apps I use are working. Widgets too. So far better than the iOS 13 public beta for me.

Filed feedback to reverse this, but I noticed that unknown callers no longer have their location tagged—on the incoming call screen and in Recents. This extra context is a big deal (to me) for out of state calls, medical calls, what have you. Otherwise, you may not recognize an area code and choose to screen the call.

Charging status seems to be working again on the lock screen. 😊

First time I've seen it since installing PB2.

Which version is the public beta on?

Is anyone having issues with resetting network or forgetting WiFi access? I tried both and both iPhones seem to connect right back with no way of toggling private WiFi off too.

if I miss a call from a contact, I am getting a text message about the missed call from some random irish number instead of the text appearing as part of my contacts conversation. Lets say my mum’s number is +49 (Germany) 1234, I get a text from +20 (Ireland) 1234 instead so iOS doesn’t correctly match the number with a contact that exists
