Haven't read through the whole thread, but I can't say I've ever seen this issue before (Canada Post icon):

Does that icon remain even after a hard reboot, or maybe deleting/reinstalling the app? I think someone might have posted something similar earlier on in this post and said a reboot fixed it.
Yup a reboot fixed it.

didn't fix this issue though (which is weird because these songs were all previously added to library through Apple Music):

Are the changes and enhancements from iOS 13.6 released today included in 14 beta 2?

iOS13 and iOS14 are totally different paths now. Assume no new features in iOS 13, just security and bug fixes. So, technically if you view it that way, yes they’ll both probably have the same security features or similar bug fixes.

I am asking about the new features (CarKey, News Audio, etc) that are a part of iOS 13.6, which was released today, will be a part of iOS 14 beta

This did not work for me, glad I tried it on a device that I can not worry about for the next couple of weeks and can use Outlook, I do much prefer Mail though, any other ideas because now I’ve deleted the account it simply will not go back at all now, not one little bit, same admin error 100% of the time, thanks
News Audio is showing up in the News app for me, but when I tap the "Listen" button, nothing happens. So ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I tried signing up for the Best Buy 4 month free News+, but couldn't do it in 14. Eventually signed u on a device that is still on 13 - but when I return to my Phone on 14, I get no News+. Hmm.... maybe beta 3, or 4, or 5...

Sleep++ doesn’t work anymore even though I didn’t change any of the settings in the Health app.

I'm not convinced the iPadOS 14 public beta 2 is that much more bug free compared to many other public betas.

Photos is crashy for me on my iPad Pro. Also, Sidecar locked up mid presentation for me during a Zoom call.

I guess the difference is this public beta is the same as the second developer beta, and usually the public beta doesn't come out until the third developer beta.

Not sure what you mean by "I guess the difference is this public beta is the same as the second developer beta" ... it's NO different that previous years. And sometimes, beta releases of iOS cause apps to crash or not work.

The public beta is the same as the corresponding version of the developer preview... it's not a different animal. The main reason for the delay between DP and PB is to allow for a buffer in case a major issue develops.

My 2x2 calendar widget has been stuck in dark mode all day.

Since installing Beta 2, it never once switched over to dark mode (even when dark mode was turned on), so this is kinda weird.

happened to me a few time as well, toggling dark mode on and off seems to fix it.

You should have quoted the second half of that sentence too:

"and usually the public beta doesn't come out until the third developer beta."

What I am saying is that most of the time the public beta doesn't come out until developer beta 3. This time it came out with developer beta 2. So in that regard, it's actually an earlier beta than I'd normally install, since I usually only install the public betas. However, this first public beta (dev beta 2) feels like the other first public betas I've installed, but in previous years, those first public betas would have been later betas (dev beta 3).

I am pretty certain that the first public beta has always followed the developer preview #2. Typically it didn't come out for an additional week (the week between DP2 and DP3), but was the code from DP2.

OK I stand corrected then.

So, back to the original post: I know everyone's experiences are different, but it seems to me that this first public beta is about as buggy as the average first public beta. Works reasonably well most of the time, but there are still significant bugs. That's to be expected, but I was surprised to see so many posts saying that this beta was basically release quality.

(Mind you, it's better than the iOS 10.0 release. That release was not good.)

Not sure many on here would agree with you on that one, including me.

Outside of one restart based on the "login with Facebook" issue (Facebook Messenger), I can't note a single issue. No hot phone, battery level has been fine, no "random" restarts, all apps have worked as expected...one of the best betas I've ever participated in.

I always find these types of post amusing...

"I haven't noticed any problems at all! Well, except this one issue..."

:D
How's this? Using my phone exactly like I did in iOS 13 (no widgets and ignoring app library), I haven't been affected by any of the bugs listed throughout this thread. Upgrading to 14 actually resolved an issue I was having with Apple Music.

? Obviously I wasn't referring to you, if you truly have experienced no bugs.

Anyhow, you said it yourself, there are many bugs listed in this thread, even if you yourself have not experienced them. Like I said before, everyone's experiences with regards to bugs will be different, but for me this definitely feels like a beta release and not necessarily noticeably better than many other iOS/iPadOS beta releases from previous years. However, IMO it is better than some especially bad releases including non-beta ones like 10.0.

I would hardly call having an issue with Facebook related apps having lots of issues. Facebook doesn’t play well with public releases. Hardly surprising it would cause issues in a beta.
