iOS 14 ― Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

For some reason, this felt like a really short beta cycle.

It was. The beta didn't start until the end of June (when WWDC began) and ended at the same time as in other years (Annual Sept event that usually features the flagship iPhones). Usually the beta cycle begins in early June and ends in mid-Sept. So yes, the beta cycle was a little shorter this year.

Goodbye, iOS 13! Gone, but unfortunately not forgotten.

I updated OTA throughout the 14 beta cycle but decided to erase and restore from an immediate iCloud backup once I downloaded the GM. I find that it does help clear out any lingering rubbish—I got a notification that a 749-day-old iMessage could not be sent.

Of course I don’t bother for point releases unless I have serious problems. The only PITA is setting up Apple Pay cards again.

I start fresh with every major update, very rare I encounter any of the bugs people post about here 🤷🏼‍♂️

Exactly. I always do a fresh install. Rarely have bugs.

I always forget my Apple Watch. I forget to unpair it before I wipe. Every single time.

You can only do it on a mac as of now, as iTunes update isn't available yet.

you also need Big Sur beta, or xcode 12 beta 6 or after.

1. Open xcode beta 6/GM, you'll get a prompt to install additional components
2. Open finder and locate your device
3. Option + Update
4. Select IPSW
5. VOILA

Spotlight has to reindex the phone, it will take a while. Leave it plugged in.

This disappeared for me back on beta 7 I think. I had it on beta 6 then it was gone after that.

It recognized my Air Pods Pro however is refused to connect. Popup info and battery info were there. just wouldn’t play.
Had to kill and reconnect to get them to work.

Sounds was very low. Had to turn on / off Reduce Loud Sounds to get them to play right.

Every year you need to use latest Mac OS beta and latest Xcode

until official GM to the public is released and not using profiles

Anyone know why when my phone is locked and away from me, alerts don’t activate the sounds? For what ever reason? I feel like it’s hit or miss? Emails have it and other apps don’t have sound?
It’s been like this entire iOS 14, is there some option maybe I activated that should be?

Is there a way to turn off the new banner that displays when pasting text (the banner that displays where the text was copied from)? I mean...who cares where the text was copied from? Such useless information and I find it so distracting and unnecessary, wish I could disable it, lol. See no reason why they added it really.

Weird bug:

Typing “Sent from my iPhone” as a Mail signature simply doesn’t show up. You have to type "Sent from my iPhone " with an *extra space* at the end in order for it to register.

Doesn't seem like there are controls related to it. That said, certainly many find the information useful at least on the level of knowing of an app is doing something that it really shouldn't be without them knowing about it.
