If 14.1 is being held for new phones, and any potential fixes in place in 14.2 can be ported back to release, like they have in prior betas after a major release, I’d speculate that we’d get a 14.0.1 before we see 14.1 or 14.2 released.

I still haven’t managed to try out the blood oxygen feature on the Watch 6, as I updated to iOS 14.2 immediately after it was released. I’m hoping for Beta 2 today, although I’m expecting it next week.

Reckons 14.1 dropping overnight ?

Wild guessing going on there. I think he doesn't take everything into account. I'm pretty sure this thread is more on par with what will happen (14.1 for new phones, 14.2 afterwards). The simple fact that he says 13.1 was released 5 days after 13.0 shows that he doesn't understand or remember all the things that happened at the end of ios 13 dev betas (features being pulled and other stuff I don't remember)

Is there a way to downgrade from 14.2? I installed it on my iPhone 11 before they pulled it and my touch screen is all jacked up and unresponsive in certain areas.

I knew it.. This makes the most sense and is in line with most years’ initial updates, almost always a quick .0.1 update a week or so after initial release. I’d assume any fixes in place with 14.2 are present here in 14.0.1, and going forward with any 14.2 beta release, they’d probably roll those fixes into a potential 14.0.2 release. Or 14.1.1 if that happens to be after the new iPhones come out. 14.2 will be saved for after the new devices have been released and in our hands so that all devices can be on the same version.

Really hoping for a beta 2 release later today.. this screen sensitivity / touch issue is frustrating. It's a long shot.. but probably will be next week.

So 14.2 or 14.0.1?? Which to install today? Looks like too many issues with 14.2.

Edit: Corrected version.

There is no 14.1. It's 14.0.1 and it's not a beta
Duh, I knew that...thanks for the clarification.

Yeah, so trying to decide if I should stick with the beta route or ditch the beta profile and go 14.0.1 at this point. Guess I know what the answer should be as I'm not really going to be testing any app builds (I'm guessing most ppl here aren't either though.)

Edit: Decided to go 14.0.1 for all the fixes.

Install the version that suits your requirements best. It’s possible that iOS 14.2 has a thousand issues but the way I use my phone I don’t encounter them, making it a fine enough choice for me. So evaluate if a version cripples an app or apps you use or a workflow you’re used to and then go ahead.
