I would think a public release as its been a week, we should be getting a 14.0.1 or 14.1 very soon
I agree. There’s almost always a .0.1 update within a week or two. Looks like 14.1 is being held for new iPhones if they have 14.2 out in beta now. I read something this morning explaining the version of 14.2 out in beta now is older than the version installed on the new iPhones waiting to ship. Since you can be prompted to update during initial setup, I’d expect a quick turnaround like a public beta on a Monday and then maybe a regular release on Thursday or Friday this week. Wednesday?

I would assume 14.2 would be released after we get our hands on the new iPhones, right? Seems like that’s just in place to shore everything up across iDevices.

Or 14.2 doesn‘t ship until a few weeks after the new phones. That‘s probably the whole point for going with 14.2, because 14.1 is required for the new phones feature sets (which shouldn‘t leak out early if they‘re currently only included in a top secret 14.1 RC that‘s being prepped for the new phones, internally).

Then again this year is literally one gigantic joke, in all aspects, so they might aswell completely skip 14.1, because why not.

All speculation on my end btw.

Thursday can be just as much of a realistic possibility as today as is.
The only reason why I am discounting Thursday is if they did not give something today, it will mostly because of having released public release on Monday.
In that case, Wednesday and Thursday will both be out of possibilities.
