I think 14.3 beta next week with the new handoff to HomePod features shown at the October event.
HomePods have been in beta on 14.2 for what seems like a long time now. And with it being officially released for HomePods yesterday, I’d assume the new HomePod Mini has 14.2 on it as well.

We should find out if the 12 Pro Max & 12 mini come with 14.2 once the reviews come out after the embargo is lifted on Monday.....

Seeing as it's most likely the HomePod Mini's will have it, then the same logic applies to the Pro Max & Mini.

You going to do the same for the others that were saying it would be next week or won’t be today? As it wasn’t just me..... someone might thing you’ve got a grudge because we don’t get on.....
No grudge, it's really just the way you come back at others' speculation that stands out to me. Whether you end up right or wrong, I guess I just need to accept that even great forums like Macrumors can end up getting polluted by bullies. FWIW I've tended to agree mostly with your "speculation"... And I know what my reply here can sound like, too.. Truce man.

So, back to the speculation.. From what I can remember, Apple tends to keep the new initial version of OS X/macOS for its own week. Any point updates after tend to be the same day as iOS updates, and usually a little later in the day. This week's point release update to iOS before a new major macOS version makes perfect sense. I would speculate to say that the first beta of iOS 14.2 would come out calendar week #47, possibly the 17th.

Are those not present in the 14.2 release? I've not got a HomePod yet, so not aware.
Not sure what additional handoff features there are, but the Intercom features work great! Kinda weird actually, having these HomePods setup where they've been for what seems like forever, and now all of a sudden my wife and I and my daughter can all talk to each other from across the house.. Pretty cool.

I have a healthy debate with people, but, with 1 exception, I don't quote them to highlight when wrong, which you did, and didn't have to do. (the 1 time was when someone was shouting me down stating their room mate worked at Apple). Truce accepted though.

Isn't it the gesture to hand it off? I need to go back and find out, but I am technically at work, so that will be later.

Roll on the arrival of my HomePod minis!

I would think 14.3 would come out after all the details come out regarding the new Apple Silicon Macs. There very well could be more as-yet-to-be-announced features with Big Sur on the Apple Silicon Macs related to iOS that they need hidden away.. So I say at the earliest for 14.3 is after Big Sur is released.

The way they described it in the keynote, it sounded more advanced than the current handoff features present. As it was not called out in release notes of either HomePod or iOS releases I figured it was still to come.
Have you given it a try? Just a thought, in case it was there, but not overly stated.

I just hope 14.3 enables 5G for dual sim devices. It make absolutely no sense that dual physical sim iPhones (like in China) can do 5G but everywhere else with one physical and one ESIM cannot. Just give me my dang 5G.

Apple said this was coming later this year, didn't they? I expect that it would be in 14.3 if so, as 14.3 will be out in December, and will be the last 14.x release this year (there could be a 14.2.x or 14.3.x, but those are usually just bug fixes).

Apple didn’t say anything about it, someone said Verizon has some internal document that said it was coming later this year as far as I know.

But it doesn’t make sense that the regular version and the Chinese versions, which have the same hardware except for the amount of SIM card slots, different on dual sim 5G. The only thing I can think of would be that they just didn’t have the software for esim and physical sim 5G ready yet, while dual physical sim 5G doesn’t need the same software changes?

I saw in Twitter from someone that apple did say they will enable it before end of this year. I just can’t find the tweet. He even posted a reply from Apple Support. If i saw it again, i will post it here.

Unless 14.3 has code for running iOS apps on Apple Silicon Macs, I’m not sure why they would not release today. But it could well have such code in it.

I would say under that theory we could get 14.2.1. But 14.3 most likely will have a beta cycle which hasn’t even begun yet.

Sorry...I wasn’t clear. I was referring to the start of the iOS 14.3 beta cycle. I know we will not see a release version until likely December.
