Even though I had iOS 14.0 RC installed, I got the official version of iOS 14.0 (or was it 14.1?) without removing beta profile. I believe this is the point of RC vs GM -- not just a name change. With this RC2 it is clear that the GM and RC nomenclature are not the same, no matter how much apple says yes
iOS 14 had a GM version, not RC. The change comes with ios 14.2, and the RC version is rarely seen as the public version. I see Apple very lost in the software issue, I do not see iOS as solid as before, and it seems that it is getting worse and worse.Even though I had iOS 14.0 RC installed, I got the official version of iOS 14.0 (or was it 14.1?) without removing beta profile. We've had more than 1 GM for a release in the past, so why is this different? Also, you do realise Apple have stated that they have dropped the GM name for RC?With this RC2 it is clear that the GM and RC nomenclature are not the same, no matter how much apple says yes
12 was more solid than even 14.14 is no where near as bad as 13 and 13 was nowhere near as bad as 11 so progress is being made.
A lot people were complaining that 12 was lack of new features, remember?12 was more solid than even 14.
Correct. This will remain true. It's a very simple theory. More features mean more code changes which lead to unstability. Fewer features, more stable.
very much depends on how apple try to market their newest hardware.
And the more apps that developers come up with that they expect/want to work with Apple’s new software and hardware will multiply the potential issues exponentially. It's a very simple theory. More features mean more code changes which lead to unstability. Fewer features, more stable.

If there is a carrier update needed they can push that separately without needing a new iOS version or build.I think the public release will be equivalent of RC3. Some carrier related issues are affecting the whole countries which will definitely be resolved.
I've been using betas for many years, especially in custom roms on Android, where the RC version was a beta almost for the final release, but the official release never coincides with it, a small final correction was always added. The grace of the GM version is that if it was construction for final release, where it has not coincided only because of the appearance of serious errors, but that has happened on rare occasions. If tomorrow Apple releases a version 14.3 with a build 18C67 or later, for me it means that Appe has signed up to this way of carrying out the development of its operating system, which does not have to be bad at all. The problem is that in the face of a massive release, and being an untested build, depending on the depth of the changes, there is a risk that people will fail things, but obviously this is my personal way of seeing it.We've had more than 1 GM for a release in the past, so why is this different? We are no longer having GMs anymore. As per Apple’s statement. They’re using the term RC going forwards.I've been using betas for many years, especially in custom roms on Android, where the RC version was a beta almost for the final release, but the official release never coincides with it, a small final correction was always added.
