I’d like to see Apple start their own VPN and integrate it into iOS 14. Also incoming calls that don’t take up the whole screen.
- Live Wallpapers
Sorry for the stupid question but what do you mean exactly? I have iPhone 8 and there are 3 live wallpapers I can choose from. I have not used them and don't know what it exactly means if I set them up. So how do they work and what sort of enhancement you want?
I mean actual live wallpapers. Not ones where you press the screen to make them move.
Got it! Thanks for the explanation! To be honest I like the idea of live wallpapers but knowing how they affect battery life I don't end up using them. I am huge battery saver junkie. Like for me it is not acceptable to charge a smartphone every day. This is something I would not do. Naturally I do stuff to preserve battery life (like not being connected constantly to cellular data or Bluetooth etc). And one of those things is not using Live wallpapers.
Having switched between iOS and Android several times, I can say with confidence that battery doesn’t suffer from live wallpapers.
Hm which Android phones have you tried? I am primarily Android user and I can notice slight battery drain with live wallpapers on my Android phone. Maybe it's the phone itself.
Pretty much every one of them because I have issues with switching. Lol.
Yeah I mean, I’m sure it does have a veeeeerrry small affect on battery but not that I ever noticed.
That seems like it would be unappealing to me, but I agree Springboard needs some tweaking in a future release. IMHO, I think iOS 14 may be premature for such implementation. Now due for a big aesthetic redesign along the lines of iOS6-iOS7? Maybe remove home screens of static grids of apps in favour of a big scrollable honeycomb like the Watch uses?
Exactly. Snow Leopard moment. My wishlist? Just one, stamp out all the bugs to match the solid iOS12
Seriously, any new features are not worth it when there are bugs on the essential things (like the keyboard).
Or, enough with the yearly new version number. iOS is quite mature that forcing the team to come up with new features every year has taken its toll. I believe the regular person don't care about what version of iOS they're running, but they DO care when their device is buggy.
Maybe Apple should do a Windows 10. Announce the iOS infinity or something as the ultimate final version of iOS, and no more version upgrades. From then on, updates with new features can be delivered piece meal like Windows 10, without the pressure to have a ton of them ready on a yearly basis. And focus on stability and bugs are given priority.
I really agree on the incoming call UI. I can take or leave RCS support. Any time Apple has to deal with a carrier things get silly, IMHO.I just want a new UI for incoming calls and RCS support ...
Yeah I can certainly see how it could not work so well on a phone where you have potentially a lot more apps installed. I hope they will change things up a little though, while iOS 13 doesn't feel quite as stale as 6 did (largely due to the mini-refresh with iOS 10 and dark mode) it's still fundamentally iOS '7.6'. I think the iPhone X and 2018 iPad Pros offer an opportunity to rethink things a bit more fundamentally than just switching round the reveal gestures for home, control centre and notification centre. I guess as some home-button based devices are still on sale, and even more still supported it does limit this somewhat, so yeah I guess a little premature yet. That seems like it would be unappealing to me, but I agree Springboard needs some tweaking in a future release. IMHO, I think iOS 14 may be premature for such implementation.
RCS is the new standard to replace SMS down the line though. The sooner Apple jumps on board the faster the adoption. Imagine not being tied to WhatsApp or other 3rd party messengers because they can technically all tap into the RCS APIs and allow your friends to chat across apps with you easily.I really agree on the incoming call UI. I can take or leave RCS support. Any time Apple has to deal with a carrier things get silly, IMHO.
Well, needless to say, iOS 13 was a difficult beta/early release. This is especially staggering compared to iOS 12's smooth rollout. Let's talk about what we want/think will be in iOS 14.
Based on the current feature set, I would hope we get more stability-related updates. Provide more feedback here!
- Stability improvements - I think we are all ready for another iOS "Snow Leopard moment". The new features are great, but I don't necessarily need this blitz of new features every year.
- Shared iCloud folders - This was a 13 feature which has now been pushed out to Spring. I hope it makes 13 but I really want it in 14.
- Camera software improvements - the iPhone 11/11 Pro cameras are amazing, but there are a ton of things surrounding deep fusion that are not made clear to the user. For example, that the "outside the frame" feature and Deep Fusion cannot be enabled simultaneously. That, and changing recording resolution and refresh on the fly
- Modernize mail - Mail needs help. It was on life support in 12 and now in 13 it has more errors. Really a disappointment overall.
