I’d like to see Apple start their own VPN and integrate it into iOS 14. Also incoming calls that don’t take up the whole screen.

*Custom Siri shortcuts in control centre
*better Mobile setting for dual sim in control centre
*select multiple song to download in Apple Music
* better handoff for iOS devices (handoff from iPad/Mac to iOS )
*indicator to show fast charging/wireless charging
*filter messages into groups ( ie. contacts saved and other contacts)

Well, needless to say, iOS 13 was a difficult beta/early release. This is especially staggering compared to iOS 12's smooth rollout. Let's talk about what we want/think will be in iOS 14.

  • Stability improvements - I think we are all ready for another iOS "Snow Leopard moment". The new features are great, but I don't necessarily need this blitz of new features every year.
  • Shared iCloud folders - This was a 13 feature which has now been pushed out to Spring. I hope it makes 13 but I really want it in 14.
  • Camera software improvements - the iPhone 11/11 Pro cameras are amazing, but there are a ton of things surrounding deep fusion that are not made clear to the user. For example, that the "outside the frame" feature and Deep Fusion cannot be enabled simultaneously. That, and changing recording resolution and refresh on the fly
  • Modernize mail - Mail needs help. It was on life support in 12 and now in 13 it has more errors. Really a disappointment overall.
Based on the current feature set, I would hope we get more stability-related updates. Provide more feedback here!

To be honest it is difficult for me to think about iOS 14 from now on. I first need all iOS 13 bugs to be fixed. I am OK if new features are not working 100 % properly but I encounter a lot of regression bugs. Especially with the Mail app I encounter a lot of issues. The iPhone I am using is a company one and it becomes useless if I can't access my mail properly.

In terms of things I want from iOS, for now those are simple things like:

1. Being able to configure different Bedime schedule for work days and for the weekend
2. Better automation in Shortcuts. For example I would like Siri to know when I am in meetings and to run Automatically Do not Disturb. I do not want to automate her to remind me to set Do not disturb. I want Siri to do it instead of me.

Unfortunately I can't think about other things now but I will share them once they pop up in my head :).

- Live Wallpapers

Sorry for the stupid question but what do you mean exactly? I have iPhone 8 and there are 3 live wallpapers I can choose from. I have not used them and don't know what it exactly means if I set them up. So how do they work and what sort of enhancement you want?

I mean actual live wallpapers. Not ones where you press the screen to make them move.

Got it! Thanks for the explanation! To be honest I like the idea of live wallpapers but knowing how they affect battery life I don't end up using them. I am huge battery saver junkie. Like for me it is not acceptable to charge a smartphone every day. This is something I would not do. Naturally I do stuff to preserve battery life (like not being connected constantly to cellular data or Bluetooth etc). And one of those things is not using Live wallpapers.

Having switched between iOS and Android several times, I can say with confidence that battery doesn’t suffer from live wallpapers.

Hm which Android phones have you tried? I am primarily Android user and I can notice slight battery drain with live wallpapers on my Android phone. Maybe it's the phone itself :D.

Pretty much every one of them because I have issues with switching. Lol.

Yeah I mean, I’m sure it does have a veeeeerrry small affect on battery but not that I ever noticed.

I see. Maybe it is small but like I am said I am battery saver obsessed so I notice everything :D.

I would also like to be able to set Reminders that are only for work days. Currently I cannot. There is no custom schedule that allows repeat only for certain days of the week.

My wishlist for iOS 14. I'm already disliking iOS 13 for it's many flaws but I'm hoping for more improvements to come. so never judge a book by it's cover :)

- new user interface - new animations - new sounds -
improved battery life -
- live wallpapers ( like on Apple TV)
- improved Siri
- Call screen doesn't take up the whole screen
- iMessages compatibility with Android users when in group chat. sms/mms -
- iMessages customization - font, color, size, - background.
- scheduled messages
- always on display OLED - clock, messages, e-mail notifications
- new keyboard options/ without having to download third party keyboards.
Gmail auto refresh fix! - third party e-mail better support for native app!
Low power mode 2.0

Now due for a big aesthetic redesign along the lines of iOS6-iOS7? Maybe remove home screens of static grids of apps in favour of a big scrollable honeycomb like the Watch uses?

My wishlist? Just one, stamp out all the bugs to match the solid iOS12
Seriously, any new features are not worth it when there are bugs on the essential things (like the keyboard).

Or, enough with the yearly new version number. iOS is quite mature that forcing the team to come up with new features every year has taken its toll. I believe the regular person don't care about what version of iOS they're running, but they DO care when their device is buggy.

Maybe Apple should do a Windows 10. Announce the iOS infinity or something as the ultimate final version of iOS, and no more version upgrades. From then on, updates with new features can be delivered piece meal like Windows 10, without the pressure to have a ton of them ready on a yearly basis. And focus on stability and bugs are given priority.

That seems like it would be unappealing to me, but I agree Springboard needs some tweaking in a future release. IMHO, I think iOS 14 may be premature for such implementation.

Exactly. Snow Leopard moment.

They'll never do an "infinite" version of iOS. They'll market the hell out of each subsequent iOS.

Yeah I can certainly see how it could not work so well on a phone where you have potentially a lot more apps installed. I hope they will change things up a little though, while iOS 13 doesn't feel quite as stale as 6 did (largely due to the mini-refresh with iOS 10 and dark mode) it's still fundamentally iOS '7.6'. I think the iPhone X and 2018 iPad Pros offer an opportunity to rethink things a bit more fundamentally than just switching round the reveal gestures for home, control centre and notification centre. I guess as some home-button based devices are still on sale, and even more still supported it does limit this somewhat, so yeah I guess a little premature yet.

I really agree on the incoming call UI. I can take or leave RCS support. Any time Apple has to deal with a carrier things get silly, IMHO.
RCS is the new standard to replace SMS down the line though. The sooner Apple jumps on board the faster the adoption. Imagine not being tied to WhatsApp or other 3rd party messengers because they can technically all tap into the RCS APIs and allow your friends to chat across apps with you easily.

Oh this is a good topic.. I've got some.
  • Mail App Overhaul, built from scratch. New UI & Missing Basic Functions Other Mail Apps Have.
  • Music App Overhaul, built from scratch. New UI & Background Movement (Lyrics Option but with no lyrics on screen, this was possible in iOS 13 beta but was removed.) Landscape mode is a must!
  • iOS UI Overhaul, not just specific applications but the entire UI needs a refresh including dual icons on lockscreen... which goes hand in hand with the next thing on my list.
  • Always On Display, dual icons included on lockscreen so you have an inverted colorscape that essentially is "dim" mode like Apple Watch 5.
  • Lockscreen option mode. Like on Apple Watch long press/3D Touch reveals face options including color changes. This absolutely should be included on iPhone as well as iPad. Changing UI color elements would allow the end user to match their Apple Watch or change things to colors that they find soothing.
  • Full iOS Font Changes, if I can install a font I should be able to use it for everything.
  • Icon Size Changes, zoom mode should be on all devices no matter what including tweaking it to sizes you want.
  • Swipe gestures on icons, if there's one thing I miss with jailbreaking way back when it was the use of swiping over icons to reveal other icons in a pile. Similar to foldout in MacOS this could be done with a flick over a stack of icons. Folders can still be used for those who like them. But swipe gestures are already in the OS why not add another reason to use them?
  • Application Split Screen Mode for Phones... enough said on this one..

Dear Heaven, can't we wait until we have a version of 13 that's actually stable and performs at least the basic OS functions before we start worrying about how 14 should improve? Given what a trainwreck 13 was when launched, and still is, here's my suggestion: skip 14 and spend the time trying to restore basic functionality and reliability to 13. Oh, and zero out Tim Cook's bonus for this fiscal year.
