Split-screen multitasking and picture in picture mode. I know they're long shots, but one can dream? A UI overhaul would be nice too.

Required in iOS 14:
Ability to disable deletion of invitation mails upon acceptance of invite from inside the iOS Calendar app. This is required for evidence purposes.
That behaviour comes from the email provider, not the app. And is standard behaviour in most email systems.

My personal wish (which never comes true): Two iOS 14 Versions.

One called iOS 14 Full with the full lineup of iOS and maybe a better battery life. And one called iOS 14 Lite with basic features of iOS (Calls, Text, Calendar, Notes, Mail) and without all the other iOS Stuff like iCloud, Siri etc.
You would not have 2 versions. You would have a single code base with one version not showing some options. It makes no sense keeping 2 different code base for anything, let alone an OS.

the Microsoft outlook app provides the feature that the Event invitation mail lying in Inbox Of the mail account (outlook or exchange type mail account) does not get deleted if the invite is accepted from inside the calendar section of the outlook app (Not from the mail section of the outlook app). The invite acceptance confirmation mail also gets sent to the sender.
however if the same Event invitation is accepted inside the iOS calendar app, the invitation mail lying in the Inbox gets deleted Automatically. The invitation acceptance confirmation is also sent by the iOS calendar app to the sender.

hence I feel the desired feature is inside the app and not the mail provider.
please correct me if wrong.
i can provide the screen recording of the behaviour if required.

It's the behaviour seen in every mail system I've worked with.

And proper legal hold NEVER relies on the behaviour of either the mail client of mail server. It journals every piece in and out to a separate location.

but how is the Microsoft outlook app for iOS not deleting The invitation mail when the invite is accepted (from inside the calendar section of the app)

Don't know, i haven't looked at it. But if it's a client side behaviour, it won't pass muster in a courtroom

That is exactly my point.
the client app should not delete the invitation mail After invite is accepted. That invitation mail is to be preserved as an evidence.

If it is client based, you can set it. However, it is normal and expected behaviour. After an invitation is accepted, the proof is the meeting entry. If you want bullet proof, evidence worthy behaviour on a mailbox, set litigation hold or full journaling. look at it this way, assume it's client based. The client does not delete the email, but the user does, because who needs it?

Litigation worthy setup preserves everything outside the control of the user.

Here’s my wishlist:
  • iPhone picture in picture for videos and video calls
  • Share screen when FaceTiming
  • Allow apps to run in the background (ex: SSH clients, Spotify downloading a playlist, etc.)
  • Set default apps for mail, browser, music, and maps
  • Call UI shouldn’t take up the whole screen
  • Make Siri useful. How about compound requests as a start: “Hey Siri, turn on the lights in the living room and my bedroom.”
  • Widgets on the home screen
  • Control Center API for 3rd party apps
  • Always connected VPN
  • Fix the folder UI on the home screen. Only 9 apps per folder screen in 2020?
  • Please allow some sort of home screen customization. We’ve been looking at the same grid of icons for 13 years!

So true :D

What is a ”litigation hold or full journaling“ in respect of the invitation mail on an iOS device ? How can we achieve a litigation worthy setup in the existing iOS.

regardless of Existence of any setup outside of the iOS device, dont you think that an arrangement in the iOS itself to preserve the invitation mail will be definitely advantageous.

Any hold or journalling is setup at the mail server setup to handle the mail before the user. And no, preserving the original invitation does nothing If it's non-selectable, users will get pissed that they have to delete the email after accepting the meeting. if it's user selectable, 99% of users will choose to delete if it's not handled by the server.

Then I don’t think implementing hold will be possible because I don’t have control over the server officials.
Based on your inputs I think a provision with optional deletion will suffice for all types of users.

Then you will never have "evidence-worthy" mailboxes. If a user can delete an email, it is not evidence.

Well one idea that I had that I think would be really new for Apple would be to combine their apps into a social media type platform. For example when you go onto this one app they have iMessage and FaceTime connected with the same profile system they are using now, then from there you can have that connected to their Apple Music profile and even their Apple TV+ profile to sort of combine all these features of other apps into one social area

I just need iCloud Keychain to be more robust so I can ditch 1Password. And in fairness, 1P has been great. But I’m trying to go all in on Apple’s ecosystem. I’m finally in the process of dropping Dropbox (no pun intended) for iCloud Drive. Slowly but surely Apple is getting these services where they need to be.

Why do you think keychain is less secure than 1Password

I don’t. 1Password just has better features atm. I love their categories feature where you can save more than just logins (software license codes, WiFi passwords, etc). I guess I should have clarified by saying “more robust with features.”

Also, 1Password has a lot of subfields for each login such as notes, previous passwords, 1-time validation codes, security questions and answers, etc.

iCloud Keychain is pretty bare bones atm. But supposedly that may change. I don’t need it to be exactly like 1P. I just need it close enough that I can make the jump without the remorse.

Is 1password integrated with Safari ? I mean will it allow filling passwords on websites on safari just like keychain does. I am thinking of reverse switch.

It does! And it works pretty well actually. I have to say... 1P is pretty spectacular. I guess the main reason I want to switch is well, Keychain is free sooooo 🙃

1. Apple hosted VPN

2. Always on VPN / VPN kill switch

3. visual indicator when on VPN (currently hidden on notched phones)

4. Dropbox style selective sync for iCloud Drive

5. Removal of app-specific folders in Files

6. Better manual control of app layout

7. WiFi network history management

iPadOS wishlist

* Multiple user accounts.
* horizontal split screen (not just vertical)

That’s it for me actually. The horizontal came up when I was trying to watch YouTube and view a document at the same time. The vertical split kind of ruined it. Portrait mode iPad with vertical split screen??? Ouch.

My only complaint left is one of the reasons I stuck with Android for so long and that is the ability to set a default app while managing files. For example, I should be able to open a pdf from the files app to adobe fill and sign and immediately resave to the same file location. As it is i have to import and export into and out of apps. This is something that has been present and standard across operating systems since what, Windows 95?

I’d also love a security addition that uploads failed face ID pictures to the FindMy app. Maybe even a way to activate cameras remotely through the same app.

Multi user should definitely be a thing.
