Says who? apple?

I have it off and it still optimised charges via cable only. FACT!

You can’t believe everything you read.
It is « system customisation » that is used for Optimized battery charging:
« System Customization: Your iPhone will customize system appearance, behaviors, and settings using your current location, for example by automatically enabling Optimized Battery Charging when you are at home. This customization data does not leave your device. »

Hey, it still works with it off. I had these settings off from the same battery video I shared back on iOS 14 betas, and someone said the same thing. I looked at my battery monitor and it showed it had been optimising. I followed it for a few nights and I found that cable it still optimised but Belkin wireless pad it didn’t.

Strange but true. Go figure. just because your phone can’t detect its at home, shouldn’t mean it can’t optimise battery charge I suppose. Don’t know really, don’t care ether ??.

Your post is blank on my end, but I could see that it’s supposed to be a YouTube link when I quoted the post. Wait, is it because I have content blockers on? ? I think I’ve seen the video already anyway.

Yep Apple says so. Actually its both sys customization and sig locations according to their support document. Not sure how yours @Pearsey works but stranger things have happened I suppose. I never could get it to work until I set it up as they say to.

Probably yes. Test it and see.
I think you have though, back in 14 testing I posted it and it blew your socks off ??

I KNOW!!!!!!! we’ve been over all this on iOS 14 betas when I first controversially posted the battery tips. and you were around then Bailey. ?

That’s why I say “you can’t believe everything you read”

And for the record it does work using a cable only, and I’m really not bothered why or how, just that you can’t take everything you read for gospel, even our loved Apple. There is a huge paragraph on that web page near the bottom underlining everything it’s just said above in slight contradiction IMO that states Apple uses this location behaviour/data for its self and third parties and services… bottom line is it’s collecting data. Would be stupid for a core system process to stop working because I wasn’t allowing it to collect data on me.

They are battery tips from an ex apple Genius Bar guy, take from it what you will, right or wrong in anyones opinion, that’s YOUR decision, I didn’t create the video. Try stuff out and see what works. ??

I have disabled significant locations yesterday and optimized battery charging didn’t work. I am always charging wireless over night.

I don't know if you have an Apple Watch, but if you disable Significant Locations, you will no longer receive notifications when you arrive home, for instance, so that the watch can warn you to wash your hands. Just a thought!!!

I think he said it only works for him using a charging cable only, he can correct me but reading his post he has said cable only a few times not wirelessly
I only use a cable too. Never wireless. But it won’t work for me without the settings mentioned in the doc. It SHOULD be tied to an alarm schedule not a location but Apple knows best ?
